  1. Probably would be a good idea to state which of there are originals and which are reissues. I'll take Screaming Joe Neal if it's an original.
  2. Perhaps it's down to which version you started to love first? I heard the cymbals/etc. version first and I feel that the earlier one sounds a bit "empty". Oh well...
  3. Eh... £2.50 should cover it. Can give you £3 to be on the safe side! Let me know.

"Hey Joyce" has been in-demand by (primarily) funk and hiphop people ever since DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist included it in their "Brainfreeze" mix from 1999. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfreeze_%28album%29
  5. Nice to see that it at least exists. I only have the promo and I really like "I'll Give You A Ride". Any chance of a soundclip of the b-side?
  6. I didn't want to offend you with the "most people" comment. I'll PM you know when I put the acetate on eBay. My name is Sebastian by the way. Christian is another guy from Sweden who's also active on this forum.
  7. Well, I guess you need a bank account and some sort of credit card. I thought most people had a bank account these days? I don't know if I'll get more than £30 for that acetate, but I might and I might not, and it's a hard piece to put a price on seeing what an oddball item it is. Can't you ask some friend to bid for you when there is some eBay item you're interested in?
  8. I very rarely sell anything set sale. I used to do set sale lists but people seldom bought anything even though my prices were sensible, so I decided that it was a waste of time and started using eBay instead. It works great for me and I sell a lot more than I did when I used to do set sale lists. Why can't you use eBay? I haven't sold the "Footsee" acetate yet, but it'll go on eBay within a week or so.
  9. For those who might be interested but have mised it, I've put Kiki Dee's german version of "I'm Gonna Run Away From You" on eBay: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230154262553 Thanks for looking!
  10. Definitely check out Barney Hoskyns book "Say It One Time for the Broken Hearted - The Country Side of Southern Soul". I really recommend it if you're into the "country" side of soul, there's LOADS out there. Southern soul and country are very closely linked together. Here's the book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Say-One-Time-Broke...3967&sr=8-1 As for Roy Roberts Experience, I really like his "You Move Me" on HOUSE OF THE FOX.
  11. Keep in mind that there is a reissue of that Millionaires 45 (with a beveled edge on the vinyl as opposed to a flat edge on the original copies). I've been told that it was made for the vocal group market. The original flat edged copies are quite rare.

Here you go: Ben_E._King___Where_s_The_Girl___ATCO.mp3 Ben E. King recorded loads of non-hits goodies throughout the 60s.
  13. Yes, two different versions issued about three years apart: Little Willie John - I'm Shakin' / Cottage For Sale - KING 5342 (1960) Little Willie John - I'm Shakin' / Person To Person - KING 5823 (1963) I agree with the above, the 1963 issue with "Person To Person" on the flip is in my opinion the best one and also the take which was comped on Kent's fabulous "King New Breed R&B" CD. The two RAs of "I'm Shakin'" on SoulClub are of the KING 5823 version: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Little_Will...Shakin'.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Little_Will...39;m_Shakin.ram Here is the earlier 5342 version (the "non jazz cymbals" one): https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/sounds/exists...itle=I_M_SHAKIN_ Superb tune!!!
  14. It is Kiki Dee actually. It's the b-side on her rare Fontana Germany 45 with german language versions of two of her tunes.
  15. Sorry for drifting off-topic... but if anyone has got a cheap copy of the Liz Verdi 45 for sale, please let me know. I don't mind if the "Think It Over" side is unplayable as long as the flipside plays great. Thanks in advance.
  16. I get your point, but honestly, it's a photo (I hope you own the right to print/publish it by the way...? ) not part of the text which you've written. Posting a scan of the photo from your mag doesn't make me NOT want to buy your magazine.
  17. I guess a lot of people know that there are other versions of "I'm Gonna Run Away From You" apart from the Tami Lynn recording, but have you heard this one... ImGonnaRunAwayFromYou.mp3 Was just going through some 60s pop stuff I had in a pile and bumped upon it!
  18. Are you perhaps thinking about this: Jimmie Blue - Why, Why, Why / Bumming Around - KING 1214 Haven't heard it myself, but I'm pretty sure that it's a different tune as the KING 1214 release is from 1953.
  19. Can anyone scan it, please?
  20. Are you sure that it is associated with Sew City? I doubt that. The Witches And The Warlock release is the oddest release on the label, everything else I've ever seen/heard on the label is rocksteady or ska. Label listing: BRA 001 - Lloyd & Glen - Minnie Skirts & Go Go Boots / A Good Man BRA 502 - Blues Busters with Byron Lee - How Sweet It Is / I Had A Dream Last Night BRA 503 - Blues Busters - Wide Awake In A Dream / My Girl BRA 503 - Byron Lee & The Dragonaires - Your No Good / Behold BRA 506 - Blue Busters - Can't Believe You're Gone / Soon You'll Be Gone BRA 602 - Blues Busters - Happy Man / My Girl BRA 602 - Blues Busters - Wide Awake In A Dream / Wings Of A Dove BRA 901 - Byron Lee & The Dragonaires - the record / Hang On Sloopy BRA 904 - L. Perkins - Sandra / No Love No Money BRA 1101 - Witches And The Warlock - Behind Locked Doors (vocal) / (instrumental) BRA 2011 - Ken Boothe - I Don't Want To See You Cry / ? BRA 201? - Blues Busters - I Won't Let You Go / Love Me Forever

If you can offer me an original Kentone copy of "I Won't Let You Go" (in EX condition at least) I will be interested in selling the Dutch copy to you. Failing that, as soon as I get myself a Kentone copy I'll offer the Dutch UA copy to you. The sound quality on "Soon you'll Be Gone" is actually better on the dutch 45 than on the Sunshine 45!
  22. Seems to be two Blues Busters threads going right now. "Can't Believe You're Gone" was originally issued in Jamaica on the Sunshine label (with both wine-red and black labels). I don't know where the Bra label is from, but some people have suggested Canada. It's a very rare record and seldom comes up for sale. Superb tune.
  23. No, because Quinton sold the rights to this track to Fame Records so he is not entitled to license it to ANYONE. Only Fame Records are allowed to license it because they own the rights to the recording (as stated by Tony above).

Superb group. Finally got ahold of a nice copy of the following a couple of weeks ago:

Superb album pretty much from beginning to end! Early 80s Capitol... we really should have a "sounds" thread concentrating on that.
