Ivan Neville / 5th Avenue Band
I'll give you £80 for Ivan Neville. A fair few copies gone for about $150 on eBay.
-
Ernie & Ed - Indication
It's UK-only on Jay Boy. Flipside is nice as well. Did you hear it on that 78-minute mix of mine which I posted on the Funk Forum? Perhaps should post up the mix here as well? Anyone interested?

Info Anyone - Louis Jordan Track?
Yep, same guy. Those Pzazz releases were his last recordings. "Wild Is The Night", nice pounding, slightly left-field uptempo dancer. The b-side, "New Orleans And A Rusty Old Horn" is one of my all-time favourite ballads (also cut in an inferior version by Sonny Knight on Aura). A bloody hard 45 to locate. Just dug it out and noticed that I have two copies of it, not sure that I want to sell it though. By the way, Louis Jordan's entire Pzazz LP is quite nice as well.

Loletta Holloway - Shout To The Top
The Style Council version is in my opinion in an entirely different league and far, far superior. And I'm no big Paul Weller fan.

Price Quotes
Most copies on eBay seems to sell for £125-£175.

Mirwood Tunes
The EXTENSIVE liner notes to the two volume "Mirwood Story" CDs on Kent/ACE goes a long way trying to sort out this mess. Really informative liner notes and worth the price alone.

Jackson 5/m Jackson
I love the previously unreleased David Ruffin version of this and have been hammering it whenever I've been able to since it was released some 8 years or so ago. It's a fantastic track.

Records I've Always Wanted To Hear
OK. Old thread reactivation time. I recently tracked down a copy of the 1932 mix of "How Can I Tell Her". Here's a sound clip for those of you who want to hear it. Not as good or punchy as the 1879 mix in my opinion, but without the sound effects...

Jackson 5/m Jackson
The Jacksons "Blues Away" on Epic/PIR and Michael Jackson's "We're Almost There" on MOTOWN surely must've had plays on the modern scene. They're both absolutely superb steppers.

Cappy & Stonewall On Love Capp
There you go. I did think that Stanewall was a bit of a strange name. I asked a person who had a copy and he insisted that his copy read "Cappy & Stanewall". Poor eye sight perhaps! Wouldn't mind a copy of the 45.

Cappy & Stonewall On Love Capp
No, it's not unknown, but few people seems to know about it. I've been looking for a copy for a while and let me know if you want to sell yours or if you find another. I think "Bad News" is a good tune. By the way, shouldn't it be Cappy & StAnewall?

8 45s
WHAT A SUPERB TUNE! Decently priced as well, not their easiest Tamla 45 to find. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Isley_B..._I_Love_You.ram

Soul News and Articles: Fame Records - a new deal with EMI may mean fresh rare output
I'd like it ALL to be released, really. Either as seperate CDs or in a big box of CDs. Release all unreleased material. Don't be skint, the demand for this stuff will probably be slim in 25-30 years time. At LEAST release a complete Jimmy Hughes 2CD compilation, all of the Dan Penn recordings including the 10 unreleased sides, the 5 unreleased Art Freeman recordings, the 2 unreleased James Barnett tunes (one of which is a version of "It Tears Me Up"!), plus all the 30-ish unreleased tunes by Linda Carr, Spooner's Crowd, Terry Woodford, Del-Rays, Entertainers etc. That would be nice.

Who Was The First White Female Artist To Record On Motown?
First white artist on Motown (in fact Tamla) was Nick & The Jaguars from August 1959. They were not signed to the label, but did a one-off 45. Great pounding surf instrumental backed with a rocker.

Only about 5 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking!

Known? Unknown? Semi-known?
Eddie Floyd! Love him. "Things Get Better" is one of my fave Stax cuts. The track you posted, Pete, was as far as I know never issued on a 45. I really like one of his Safice 45s entitled "Baby Bye", punchy 60s dancer. Have a listen.

Everything Is "northern Soul" On Ebay
Well... have you heard this particular 45? The b-side is a ballad. The a-side is an uptempo strings-and-things tune that I can imagine have had spins on the popcorn scene. "It Might As Well Rain Until September" is a decent and well constructed pop tune performed and written by one (actually two!) of the most talented song writers ever. Doesn't make it a soul record ofcourse, or northern soul for that matter. But... I could find worse examples.
