"Heavy Music" is from 1967 and was Bob Seger's last Cameo 45. I like much of his material, but "Heavy Music" is no big fave of mine. "2+2=?" (Capitol), "East Side Story" (Cameo) and his first couple of Capitol LPs are much better in my opinion. Having said that... like Mitch Ryder, The Rationals and many other r&b influenced Detroit/Michigan rockers, I have never sorted my Bob Seger records in the "soul" section of my record collection. It's nice good-time-shout-bamalama rock'n'roll though.

Just played that Oliver Bush 45 on Jubilee you've got for auction earlier this morning and what a total stomper it is. Underrated and underplayed. Love it! https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4835543482 Oliver Bush Please Come Back My Love.mp3

That Lester Young 45 hardly ever turns up and it's an absolute BELTER of a tune! Also both sides on that Louis Curry 45 are superb. Have a listen:

I knew that I had read something about the Ed Crook "issue" on another forum in the past and now I've found it, hope no one minds that I'm posting this... according to Joe Moorehouse over at the RareSoulForum: Major Reynolds, who owned Tri-Sound, told me that the cross-and-stars design on Ed Crook is a pirate copy. After the record became a hit locally, someone (he didn't know who, I don't think) had additional copies pressed up without Major's permission and sold them without his knowledge. Interestingly, this sort of thing apparently happened pretty often, or at least a lot of old musicians and label owners claim it did. Strange though that they both seems to have been pressed with the same master/stamper (Nashville markings etc.). Perhaps it was stolen? I don't know, just reporting what I've read elsewhere.
  6. That Staple Singers cut was released as Epic 10339 in 1968. I've been thinking the same myself... that it's one that "could go"... unfortunately a bit on the short side though. Nice r&b dancer. Largely unknown it seems.
  7. Any chance of an MP3 of the flipside to "Ain't That News" entitled "There's Going To Be A Wedding"? Anyone?
  8. Let me put it this way... I've seen one copy of this record for sale in the past 5 years (or so) and I've actively been trying to find it. Admitedly, when I did find that one copy it only cost me $15, but that Freddie North 45 is seriously, seriously hard to find and I'll have to assume pretty rare. One of those that people say "oh, it's only a £10 record, you'll find it easily", don't know why really because it just doesn't turn up. A fantastic, pounding tune! As for value... I have no idea.

  10. "A Lady's Man" is probably my fave Volcanos tune of them all, it's so hard and the sound quality on my white DJ copy is phenomenal! Love that nasty guitar. Saying that... I love many of their recordings, especially "Your Number 1", "Gotta Be A False Alarm", "Storm Warning" and "(It's Against) The Laws Of Love". Have personally never cared much for "Help Wanted" though. Gotta go dig them out!
  11. Thanks Billy. Much appreciated.
  12. Has anyone of you got some high quality MP3s of The New Yorkers two tunes "Ain't That News" and "There's Going To Be A Wedding" on TAC-FUL and RADIO CITY that you perhaps could upload here? If so, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I HAVE FURTHER REDUCED THE PRICES ON THE UNSOLD ITEMS. PLEASE, SEE BELOW.
  14. Willie Hightower is nice and gritty. Bob & Earl is magnificent, love that tune!

Here's the Lee Moses tune for those of you who don't know it. Probably some of the best £10 you can spend on a record in my opinion. The Gene & Eddie is also very nice and decently priced.

Love that Jackey Beavers tune! Shame about the pointless intro though, should've started 45 seconds into the tune instead... oh well, can always cue it up past the intro. Lovely!

Lovely stuff: JAMES SPENCER - IN LAW TROUBLE (TAURUS) £40 JIMMY ROBINS - IN MY HEART (JERHART) £20 THE RUBAIYATS - OMAR KHAYAM (SANSU) £25 LEE MOSES - BAD GIRL (MUSICOR) £10 That James Spencer tune is absolutely insane. Doesn't come up for sale very often either. And the Lee Moses 45 is one of those "desert island" ones for me. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/James_Spenc...law_Trouble.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Jimmy_Robin...In_My_Heart.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Rubiaya...mar_Khayyam.ram

Someone, pick this up. It's a bargain and a fantastic record, both sides actually. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Trends_...ith_Me_Baby.ram
  19. Great tune indeed, but I personally prefer the insanely fast version by The Vibrations on Okeh. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Vibrati...out_You_Now.ram
  20. Voices From The Shadows used to have copies of this for £6 not that long ago. But I seriously don't think that's anywhere near what it "could" or "should" go for, considering that it's a pumping uptempo dancer and a very obscure one at that. Just a case of people not knowing it etc. Stick it on eBay with a sound clip is my advice if you're selling.
  21. I have just come across a bunch of interesting acetates. Sandra Phillips - Words - ASSOCIATED Sandra Phillips - Heaven Must Be Like This - ASSOCIATED Pride Passion & Pain - Feel So Good - ASSOCIATED Pride Passion & Pain - Bamboo - ASSOCIATED Stephanie Mills "Cookie" - Love Me Tender Baby - AUDIODISC Stephanie Mills "Cookie" - I'll Never Love Nobody Else - AUDIODISC Stephanie Mills "Cookie" - Growing Up Is Hard To Do - AUDIODISC Eddie Jones - A Little Bit Of Something - 6 WEST Eddie Jones - What Will I Do Now - 6 WEST As far as my research goes, I can't find any information about these having reached "proper" 45 release status. The Sandra Phillips "Words" sounds great to me as far as northern dancers goes. I know that there's a tune on Stephanie Mills first 1975 album on ABC called "I'll Never Love Nobody Else But You", but it's not the same recording as on my acetate. Has anyone else recorded these tunes? Does anyone of you know anything at all about this stuff? Also got some Millie Jackson demos on an Empire Recording Corporation acetate, out of which one of the tunes is a Don French composition. And then there's the original Bell Sound Studios acetate of Gwenn Douglass "The Picture". etc.
  22. A friend of mine is auctioning a bunch of 45s on eBay at the moment, such as the ultra rare Shaddows "Together Again" on United Audio, Charades on MGM, Johnny Jack on AXIS, Major Lance on OKEH, Eddie Holland on TAMLA etc. If you're interestd, check them out at: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthinfrogQQhtZ-1

A UK Island copy sold two weeks ago on eBay for £30, it had its centre missing so perhaps a bit misleading. Usually goes for slightly more. Noticed another no-centre copy 3 weeks ago on eBay which ended at $72 but didn't meet the "reserve". Nice track indeed and as you write, sounds good played out loud, very "mod" to my ears. Have you heard The VIP's version of Joe Tex "I Wanna Be Free"? It's "interesting"...
  24. Definitely one of his trickier 45s to find. Have been selling for £15-£25 lately on eBay. Available on both styrene and vinyl, vinyl copies should be more desirable. Fantastic two-part tune!
