Jesse James
A very nice one indeed. Prefer Little Milton's original though, hasn't got all that crowd noise going on.

The above auctions end in about 4-5 hours. Thanks for checking them out!

Little Richard
Just dug out my UK Columbia copy and you're right. Arranged by Reg Guest and produced by Norman Smith. Norman is all over the early Beatles recordings and Reg helped Scott Walker and the Walker Brothers with arangements. Unless they flew them over to the US to record, but that seems highly unlikely.

Little Richard
One of my all-time favourite tracks. It shreds a dance floor to pieces. Only available as a 45 on UK Columbia. It's LP-only as far as US releases goes. His magnificent "Explosive Little Richard" Okeh LP. Slade had their first big UK hit with a cover of this track in 1971. The original version by Bobby Marchan is quite decent as well.

Primers On Hale
As Pottsy wrote above: "I sat & talked with Lee Silver (the producer/label owner) in length about this. He told me they were a black 5 piece group from San Diego."

Patti Jo
P.J./Patti Jerome is not Patti Jo. They sound nothing like each other, and Patti Jo apparently was some kind of "prodigy" and recorded those 1972/1973 Wand and Scepter sides with Curtis Mayfield at the age of 16. Patti Jerome recorded (to my knowledge) as far back as the mid-50s so can't possibly be the same person.

Greatest Northern Soul Record (fast)
Was just a moment ago racking my brain for fave Tempests tracks... and came to think of one of my fave REALLY fast tunes. "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind". Have a listen: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Tempest..._Of_My_Mind.ram Also, Fredrick Knight's debut disc, "Steppin Down" on MAXINE, is just slightly too frantic for the dance floor (as I experienced this past friday... ): https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Fredrick_Kn...teppin_Down.ram Another fantastic frantic track is International Kansas City Playboys "Everybody's Goin' Wild": https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Internation..._Going_Wild.ram

Ain't No Big Thing? You're Right.... Its Massive
The Radiants original hit version is without a doubt my fave. Proper mid-tempo, characteristic Chicago soul. In my opinion, The Tempests take on it is too messy and the Jimmy James has got annoying girl backing vocals. Loads of versions of "Ain't No Big Thing" out there and apparently a very influential track. As far as a Tempests Top-3, here goes: 1: Can't Get You Out Of My Mind 2: What You Gonna Do 3: I Don't Want To Lose Her Top group!

Primers On Hale
According to the "LA's Silver Soul" comp on Kent... the group was also known as The Vines (on Sutter) and Ike & The Vines. They were three male and two female singers. The main songwriter was known as Saint Coombs and also sang background. There is no picture of them in the booklet. Not a garage rock outfit in any case though. Really like the Everly Brothers sound-a-like vocal harmonies on "How Does It Grab You".

For Sale: Charlie Rich Lp, Ray Jay 45 On Cotique
I have a copy of the Charlie Rich LP on Hi UK (released 1988 and long out of print) which includes his brilliant and unissued "Don't Tear Me Down" (included on the Kent CD "Northern Soul's Classiest Rarities"). This is the only official vinyl release of this track. If anyone needs this LP, drop me an e-mail at fonzeus@telia.com . It's £40 including airmail shipping anywhere. Also, there was some discussion on here a while ago about Ray Jay & The Eastsiders latin boogaloo monster "Love Doll" on Cotique. Does anyone need a copy? I've got a M- white DJ copy here that's up for grabs. I have no idea at all how much I should ask for this. Offers to the e-mail address above if interested, please.

Fantastic track that Little Richard tune, Simon. Seriously underrated. Sounds fantastic played loud at a venue. Like those chop chop chop guitars!

Greatest Northern Soul Record (fast)
This starts to look a bit like my wants list... Anyone got spares of Barbara Christian "Not Like You Boy" and Eskew Reeder "Better Believe In Me" that they'd like to sell? Thanks in advance.

Solomon Burke "cry To Me"
Indeed, a copy sold two days earlier on eBay for £37 or so. I sold a M- UK copy some months back for $85. It's a solid £30-£45 record on its UK issue.

Few Bits And Bobbins For Sale
Mindblowing! Not for a northern soul dancefloor perhaps, but seriously one-of-its-kind funky psychedelic r&b type stuff.

Greatest Northern Soul Record (fast)
Absolutely fantastic tune! Love it.

There's a fantastic and in my opinion far superior stomping flipside on this one, "My Sweet Baby".

Mental Bidders
Wow. £150 for Denise Lasalle on Tarpon. That's really something. It was a big, BIG hit in Chicago upon release. That's why Chess picked it up for national distribution.

Yes, there is. Check this out: https://www.oslosoul.com/sounds_20.aspx

Cliff Nobles: My Love Is Getting Stronger (atlantic)
Yes, I think it's fantastic and sounds quite a lot like the unissued version of "Love Is Allright" by Jesse James (not surprising considering its writer credits). The flipside, "Everybody Is Weak For Somebody", is even better IMO and a fantastic piece of deep soul. Must say that over the years I've seen lots and lots and lots and LOTS more Atlantic copies of "My Love Is Getting Stronger" than "Your Love Is All I Need".

Odd Bits 4 Sale
Great double-sider. Don't forget the uptempo funky r&b flip, "What Can You Do".
