  1. Probably just a case of different pressing plants pressing records for different areas of the US. Happens a lot with major label distributed stuff (in this case Atlantic). Or perhaps one of those label colours is from before the distribution deal was struck? I don't know really, but hardly a 45 worth bootlegging considering that it's still fairly easy to pick up cheap. Top quality tune in any case!
  2. I've got the following 45s by him: 1975 - ACE 3007 - You Got A Good Thing Going / Two Women 19__ - BACKFIRE 4258 - In The Same Motel / Ride The Wind 19__ - BAD 1003 - In The Same Motel / Don't Give Your Love (To Anyone Else) Despite its release date, the Ace 45 sounds like a late 60s recording and "You Got..." is great storming northern. If you need the Backfire and Bad 45s, let me know and we'll work something out.
  3. It's the flipside to "Shot Down" (which is an even better tune IMO). It can't be that hard to locate? Or can it?
  4. Everything on the first two Sonics LPs is absolutely awesome and some of the best music ever recorded in the history of the universe. Would've been nice if they would've used the mono masters for that recent remaster CD on BigBeat/ACE instead of the inferior stereo ones though... Let me know if you need the original mono master version of "Don't Be Afraid..." and I'll e-mail it to you, Pete.
  5. "A Long Way To Be Happy" is a great booming track! I really like it and have it on the "Rare Masters 2" LP which was released in 1976 on Phil Spector International. I think "Stumble And Fall" is brilliant as well and definitely one of my most loved Philles 45s.

I obviously disagree with you as well. I have no problems with sampling different things and making up new tunes of it. But these two tunes DON'T go together well at all. The vocal doesn't match the rhythm in many places and it sounds forced. "You Don't Know My Name" which in its original form samples Main Ingredient's "Let Me Prove My Love To You" is a great piece of work. This mash-up sounds very, very bad to my ears.

How unnecessary. "Oliver's Army" and "You Don't Know My Name" are both fantastic tunes on their own. What a waste of time and effort.
  8. Which one do you mean? "Miss You So"/"Aw Shucks Baby" surely isn't more than £25? I do agree with you if you're on about "Just A Little Bit" though. A damn hard 45 to track down. Leo Price at £700. Wow. My copy is up for grabs if anyone needs it. Thanks for the prices, Mike!
  9. TB prices for the following would be nice: Fredrick Knight - Steppin Down - MAXINE Leo Price & Band - Hey Now Baby - UP-DOWN Homer Banks - Sweetie Pie - GENIE Tiny Topsy - Just A Little Bit - FEDERAL

    That seems about right.

Dakar often used Atlantic for their european releases. Strange but true. I've got Tyrone Davis "Can I Change My Mind"/"A Woman Needs To Be Loved" (now there's a double sider! ) on german Atlantic with a picture sleeve and that one has got a big centre as well (many german releases seems to have a big centre). Otis Leavill "Why Why Why" on Dakar isn't exactly easy to track down, but £75 is slightly over the top to put it mildly... ...even though the flip "Glad I Met You" is decent as well.

  14. I think "Don't Give Up" by Cassietta George which was mentioned above is amazing (as is much of her other stuff but not in a very "northern" way). I really like the following as well: Jean Austin - Don't Have To Worry- SONGBIRD Salem Travelers - Give Me Liberty Or Death- CHECKER

I've listed a bunch of 45s on eBay, both some "rarest of the rare" type stuff like... Gwenn Douglass on MICHELLE Mill Evans on TOU-SEA Gloria Fowler on C.J. ...plus more obscure ones. Check them out at: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQgotopageZ1QQsassZpushkings All of them has got sound clips and label scans. Thanks for looking!
  17. I unfortunately don't own the 45, but here's a scan of it:
  18. A copy of this LP sold on eBay a couple of months ago for £114. I guess the 45 of "Love, Let Love..." would cost you a lot more.
  19. The Action "I'll Keep Holding On". The Marvelettes version pales into insignificance when compared to it.
