Unfortunately the vinyl looks like it's been in a fight or two and the flipside doesn't play very good, but "Goin' To A Happening" plays amazingly well. Definitely good enough for DJing. Sorry, can't help you with a copy, but if anyone's got a sound clip of this tune I'd really like to hear it. I've heard that it is supposed to sound quite a bit like "Because I Love You" by Shirley Wahls on Calla which is a big fave of mine so I'm a bit curious.

£40-ish or less. A copy ended yesterday on eBay with starting bid £49.99 and no bids.

What do you need to know? Value? Do you need a soundclip? Both of the Le Cam releases shares the same matrix number and timing so I guess they're the same recording. The LH 6107 matrix on the Soft release would date it to 1969-ish. The tune is poppy as hell with crap vocals.

Does it exist? Is Major Bill Smith still alive? I recently found an absolutely bizarre 45 by him on LeCam: :o

Nice hard hitting organ/piano heavy Andre Williams written and produced instrumental with bongos and a weird brass break. Probably could've been released as an Andre Williams 45 if he could've been arsed to put a vocal on top of it... Not worth more than £5-8 though.

The Slam Creepers did a good version of it (very similar to the Capitols version). Their singer later ended up in Blue Swede and scored a huge US hit with "Hooked On A Feeling"...

Manship has had this on his site for quite some time at £75. Now when I went over there again to see if he still had it, he has lowered the price to £50. Not an easy 45 to find and seems to be unknown to most people so unless you supply a sound clip with your listing chances are you won't sell it at all. Great tune in my opinion and I've sold two copies less than a year ago for £40 each.

Yes, a couple of times. For example I got Randy & The Soul Citizens "Meet Me At The Pool" on Barry after I put it up as a want on one of the soul forums. Had been looking for it for a good couple of years.

Have seen a whole bunch of different designs for the Amazers 45. Below is a scan of my copy. All of them are originals as far as I know (still a £5-£10 disc so why bootleg it?). Great storming dancer.

Sorry, don't know anything about the musicians... But you're absolutely right. That's an utterly brilliant tune. Can't believe how I forgot it in my list above. It's such a blasting and primitive track. Love it!

All three? They released at least nine or ten 45s on Charay. Some of them shared the same tunes, but still. Many of their Smash and Blue Rock recordings are also fabulous ("Soul Of A Man", "Just A Tear", "Gonna Give It To You", "Don't Put Me Down", "Sad World Without You" etc.). Plus they sang back-up on Willie Hobbs "Action" on Soft/Mercury.

Ooohhh... Very nice indeed! Wouldn't mind a copy myself.
