But "Someone To Fulfill My Needs" isn't on the Brent release. Don't know if it's on the Peentowne issue. It's only included on one of the Deep City releases (#2367). "One Little Dance" was issued twice on Deep City, as #2367 and #2374.
  2. The few times I've seen it sell on eBay it has fetched £300-£400. It is valued to £700 in Manship's guide. A seriously rare and superb piece of vinyl.
  3. There is possibly some TV footage in existence of Billy Sha-Rae. He appeared on a US TV show called "The Lively Spot" together with the MC5 and a couple of other artists and at about 2:18 in the following (absolutely incredible!) MC5 clip the host of the show says something along the lines of "...stay tuned for more performances by Little Milton Campbell, Billy Sha-Rae, Anne Murray and more to come!": Has anyone ever seen the Billy Sha-Rae TV clip? I wouldn't mind seeing it!
  4. Yes, same group. Did they release anything else apart from the two 45s on GOODTIME and the one on MERCURY? All three 45s are superb in my opinion. Perhaps they morphed into some other group or members went solo?
  5. Good version indeed. I've always found it kind of bizarre that they did a cover of such an obscure tune as the flipside of The Seven Souls "I Still Love You".
  6. Aren't the PM and UNITED ARTISTS releases the exact same version? A version was also issued on the MT label in 1982:
  7. I agree. It's an absolute monster stormer and the flipside isn't far behind!
  8. Here are label scans for the tunes in the mix:
  9. Lots of other people have been playing it during the past 40 years. It's a stone cold funk classic and probably the best known tune that Willie & The Mighty Magnificents ever recorded. Would be nice if someone got seriously behind their "Take My Love" instead. Now that's a really good tune that's just begging for plays.

Totally understand! I prefer Serato myself, but I guess it's pretty much the same idea as FinalScratch.

  13. It was issued in 1970 according to the Record Collector 2010 guide. Most other discographies has it down as a 1969 release though, so I don't know for sure.
  14. Here's one from Popsike:

  16. Black text on blue background is the second issue (and it mis-credits the title as "You're Number One"). Original white demo has got black text on white background. Original issue has got dark-blue text on light-blue background.

The following were members of The Commands: Sam Peoples Jack Martinez Dan Henderson Emanuel Gracey
  18. Starting price was $99.99 for the Tony Daniels acetate.
  19. That's very likely. I wasn't claiming that I was right about Ivorys/Ivories, just wanted to put the thought out there.

  21. So... what was the correct name for the group? Ivorys or Ivories? Which record company got the group name wrong? Ivorys on DESPENZA and Ivories on WAND. Perhaps that's the reason why the Wand issue is so scarce? They mis-spelled the band name, destroyed most of the copies and didn't bother to press up a new batch? Just a theory.

I just had a look... and damn what an unnecessarily gigantic book that is! A great and informative read/look ofcourse, but the size and weight of it is ridiculous. Anyway... there's actually a different photo of the Dream Team in there. Here it is: Not relevant to this thread, but from the same book, here you have The Deadbeats of "No Second Chance" fame:

Will dig out the beach music book and scan the Dream Team picture and post it up if I remember it. This is apparently James Edward Gregory:

I don't know the names of the group members but: "I'm Not Satisfied" is written by James Edward Gregory. "There He Is" is written by James Edward Gregory and Myrtle Elliott. I guess that James last name was where the label name GREGORY came from. Both sides on this 45 are published by NIMBIG MUSIC which these days is owned by Howard R. Biggs. He is the son of Noah Biggs who started the SHIPTOWN and HOW BIG labels. More info about Shiptown/How Big etc.can be found here: https://www.shiptownmusic.com/ Here is a tiny picture of The Dream Team (from the site above):
