More Dreadful Repro 45s
And DJ's that go out and get someone else's current big spin booted so they can DJ with it themselves should be hung drawn and quartered !! Went to a local soul night a few weeks back before Margaret Little was booted and heard a well known (ish) DJ play Robert Tanner and Margaret Little in his spot. He told me that someone local had done 6 back to back copies with those 2 tracks on them. I told him that I didnt agree with it and that I didnt think it would enhance his DJ reputation. His reaction was that only hardcore collectors would know and he was more interested in impressing the dancing punters. These DJ's are the people that really get up my nose !!

More Dreadful Repro 45s
I know its not the same as the boots where they scan the original label and paste them onto an old boot but I have just had a list from a major UK seller with 3 pages of boots at the back. I have seen this seller selling white label copies of current big spins at weekenders and told him I don't agree with it. His reply was that he keeps getting asked for said records so he's just filling the demand. Using that theory everytime JM or Anglo get a rare record in and get 20 enquiries for that record they should do some copies and offer them to fill the demand.

More Dreadful Repro 45s
Win I think earlier in the thread someone stated that selling is'nt illegal its the manufacture that is. That would explain why certain people are openly selling them as it is probably much harder to prove where the original source is.

[quote name='tabitha m' date='Oct 11 2006, 04:12 PM' pos Loved the soul nights there , but could never really get to grips with the nighters for some reason, still went to most of em though , didnt want to miss anything. Got to agree with you Tabitha the soul nights were brilliant.Had some good times at the All nighters but will always have special memories of the soul nights. Having lost touch with the scene during the early 80's due to boredom and getting married I got invited to a soul night in 1991 and was amazed at how good it was. The music played by Chris and Steve was like a breath of fresh air to someone who had missed Stafford and had dropped out due to the quality of some of the stuff being played. That was the first time I met Chris and I can remember thinking "how can someone so young have such knowledge and good taste"! Good times Mark- Margret Little 45?
Sent an enquiry to Hall of Fame and received the below reply, I'm sure the name Becks has cropped up on here before !! Hi yes this one is fairly new prob about a year old. I know theres always been people booting records but in the last year it feels like we're back in the seventies and almost every day theres something new been booted. I decided a while back not to put up any more scans of rare records because theres always someone looking to use them for the wrong reasons. It just feels that there are people around now that will go to any lengths to make money from the scene.- Margret Little 45?

Saw this on Ebay: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-ultimate-NORTHER...1QQcmdZViewItem Normally there is an indication of how many items are available but 2000 may have looked dodgy !! I've also just been advised that VIP radio will not be accepting any more requests to play "please let me in" and its also been banned from any KRL venue. - Robert Tenard On Fa-bo-lus
Digging around in some stuff that I picked up on a recent buying trip I came across a copy of Robert Tenard - Don't Stop / You Made Me Cry on FA-BO-LUS. Both sides of this are pretty good but I can't seem to find out anything about this 45 or the label. I assume its the same Robert Tenard who did Gotta Get Goin on Fabulous. Anyone know anything about the record and if it has ever been played? Many thanks Mark- Clifford Binns - You've Got To Help Me
I think there are 2 different green copies Baz, one supposed to be legal 2nd issue and the other a boot. I think there are different matrix markings but I can't remember which is which!!- Is This Modern Day Bootlegging?
Some people will pay strange amounts for what is openly listed as a boot https://cgi.ebay.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-DYNELLS-...1QQcmdZViewItem £42 for a Dynells boot !!- Is This Modern Day Bootlegging?
I've seen a couple of people doing this on Ebay recently. They seem to be implying that because they have (supposedly) been done in small numbers, are good copies and they have been upfront that they are boots that this somehow makes it alright. They may have been open about the fact that they are boots but how long will it be before they are sold on and some unsuspecting person buys them at a high price? These guys are in it solely for the money and they are no better than the people who seem to be booting anything in sight. There seems to be an ever increasing number of people willing to go to any lengths to make money from the scene and it makes me sick. Some of these people are well known names on the scene and they are bleeding it dry. Sorry about the rant but I feel dtrongly about this!!- Open The Door To Your Heart

Hi Kev I've been looking for one for some time now since I heard Carl play it out. People tell you its not rare (don't they always?) and I've been quoted anywhere between £40 and £70 as a value. Hope this helps Mark- This Is Just Wrong Ebay Madness
Ebay won't do anything unless they get loads of complaints. Be interesting to see how many complaints they get! Is this a sign of the times, there are so many people booting anything they can. You get large promotors booting anything from Bill Bush to Hamilton Movement openly. I went to a weekender not so long ago and a well known record dealer was openly selling white label copies of current tunes. I asked him about it and he said that he had done " just 5 copies of each" as there was a demand. There have always been people looking to line there pockets from the scene but I have never known it as bad as it is now.- Is This An Original?
Yes tis me!! Think you deff need to get on this guys case as he's on your manor. You'll have all sorts trying it on if this guy gets past the Trev and Jo soul patrol!! Have been laid up with this bug for the last few days but if can shake it off planning to see you on Saturday. Looking forwards to hearing some interesting tunes Mark - Top Toons Need Dosh For My Visa
