  1. Hello, I'm looking for Duke Browner and Sam Williams , on UK Grapevine would prefer E+ or better, no rough copies or centres missing ( these are to complete my line up)
  2. Early 80s, I went to a few there. Even remember the Bali hai being turned into a Mod (revival) room. Wheel type stuff mainly.
  3. Two nice n easy ones from me Edwin Starr : I have faith in you / Stop her on sight The Artistics : hope we have/I'm gonna miss you
  4. Very sad news. Iconic photos stick in your mind, from days when I was living in hope of attending my first all niter... Well this lady featured in more than one of those photos. RIP
  5. I have two tickets for the bank hol reunion.... £20 the pair, inc postage to uk mainland.
  6. With Van McCoy at the helm, never in doubt. That intro, wow! Fabulous tune
  7. Listening to local radio last night, the presenter played "movin" by Brass Construction. This was a general pop music show by the way my point is: has anyone, or would any one play this kind off thing at a 'soul' event? When you listen to some of the dreadful stuff played, surely this has a lot more soul (mostly) than many records given air time ? I've not explained myself too well I suppose, but what are your thoughts?
  8. What label are you looking for? I have a red UK Demo
  9. I'd do what I've always done.... Listened and enjoyed all genres of music.

    £50 posted ?
  14. Ivorys on Wand, Cecil Washington, Larry Clinton.... Phew !
  15. Gene chandlers recording of 'there was a time' Oh yes!
  16. Difficult innit? I have so many, narrowed it down to 2: Spinners - I'll always love you Contours - just a little misunderstanding first one is just superb, fabulous vocals (of course) with a perfect arrangement second one has it all, been in my top five for well over 30 yrs, the piano intro is irresistible !
  17. I've followed this topic with interest, (with a few chuckles along the way). So how about the promoters of the 'upfront/rarer' side of things , contact the media , with the hope that they will portray the 'true' ethos of the soul scene, by allowing cameras into their venues? A lot of mixed feelings and opinions here, so if we saw both sides in the media (obviously we have a split scene?), then all of us can see what the other half are missing p.s. I'm on the fence, I loves me oldies, I also enjoy the soulful 'crossover', along with the Philly stuff and the club classics. So if you want the world to see anything other than a retro scene, you know what to do
  18. Hmmm, so many to choose, but who can resist the strings on Mel Britt, Lou Ragland ? The sax solos on Evelyn king's 'SHAME', or Mystic Merlins, 'Just can't give you up'? Not forgetting the Memphis horns on 'try a little tenderness' a multitude of quality tunes, love em
  19. I saw the badge, that's enough fer me.......

    Cracking tune.
  21. Recording techniques and production quality= Atlantic, every time . (RCA too ?) Motown sure had the numbers and artist rosta, but they had some catching up to do when it came to production techniques. 70's was a different matter, PIR had it sewn up
  22. Ouch! Really? They cant even sing the correct lyrics fer gawd sake.
  23. I would sell my soul for that. What a tune, Total heart felt vocals with an intro to wake the dead. Stunning!
