" The Public Wants What The Public Gets "
Ad Lib, Lincoln. now thats a club that has refreshing tunes. i know early soul (some call it R&B) isnt everyones cup of tea, but that place does it right. tunes we know, tunes we dont know, tunes we'd llike to hear again. there must be other clubs out there that cater for those that like to hear something different ? i personally love my oldies and will freely admit that i avoid certain places, because i know exactly whats gonna come out of the speakers. difficult and frustrating, I love the small clubs (Sweetsoul, Stute etc), i also love the big do's. I also love to gig the odd weekend, playing drums in a cheesey covers' band is a good escape from the soul scene. branch out a little, do other things, tis good! Merry christmas all.........

Used To Be Cool, Now Crap
This is what I find fascinating about the NS scene. One mans meat etc. I played Esperanto to an appreciative audience a little while ago, but at he soul bowl it cleared the floor ?? Yet Interplay gets a spin and folk go in a frenzy ! What makes Derek and Ray more soulful than The Grand piano company? Dunno myself, but one is hammered, the other ain't. Mind you, California montage is an instr to behold, now that oozes soul, lovely. As for cool ? little Lisa, Hang on Bill was a big tune many moons ago, but I doubt it would fill a floor nowadays! Great thread, enjoying the input

1982 Neil Rushton Article From "the Face"
Remember it well, still got the mag issue. I got my workmate at the time to have a read, since then he's been an avid soul fan. " of such things are legends made " A timeless line from the article, we still say that whenever we hear the 'tune'

Tainted Love Version
I hope they got the lyrics right ! I won't listen to that god awful soft cell shamble, for the simple fact 'mincing' Marc sings "if you think love is to pray, well i'm sorry i don't pray that way" ......... since when did Gloria Jones sing that in her tune ? arrgghhhhhhhhh. also, when did GJ sing "take my tears" ? If the pair of clowns had listend to the song properly, maybe the other murderers would have got it correct too. Rant over

News: Major Harris R.i.p.
Very very sad news. It's Groundhog Day again! Love won't let me wait..... . What soul and emotion! The haunting and almost psych guitar intro on 'call me tomorrow' is a magnet to a dancefloor for me, absolutely love it. RIP friend.
