  1. To answer the original question....I've bought from the US for 30 years or so and I have to say that until recently their grading has been much better in general. I've often had records described as VG but in fact were mint...just needed a dusting down. However it seems in recent years that as they have become aware of the value of vinyl to collectors, their grading's have slipped. The big boys are still very good but some of the Ebay sales I've had over the last 5 years have not matched the described grade. UK are also pretty good in general but I think there tends to be an acceptance that we don't have access (generally) to the stocks like the US guys, so we accept that our grading may differ slightly which is probably why we include the 'Ex' classification in there as most 50 year old 45's have had a least some use.. To cover other aspects, I don't really mind what classification sellers use, US or UK, just so long as they give an accurate description of the label and vinyl and maybe throw in scans to add more detail. I also think the + / - also helps give a more accurate description. As an occasional seller on SS, I use the UK grades, as someone has pointed out its a big jump from VG to M, and I think its useful and reassuring to buyers to offer 100% no quibble guarantee if not satisfied. Then everyone is covered.
  2. The best Vocoder user was Roger Troutman in Zapp in my humble opinion. Their track 'Computer Love' is my guilty secret
  3. Hi I have a copy of this anti Vietnam / anti war song which has a nice crossover / sweet sound in mint unplayed condition. I saw it on a play list for a well know collector / DJ so may be of interest. Post 1.50 first, 2.50 recorded and £5 worldwide standard airmail. Any special requests will be at cost. Paypal as F&F or add 4% Ed Townsend - Take a vow for peace - EGA Records M £40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBs9DexMyVs PM's for questions or to order. Thanks Andy
  4. Lous Hendricks and Charles Colbert were also in The Trips on Soundville. Jimmy Conwell went on to Smoked Sugar, Godoy Colbert went on to Free Movement but was also in The Visitors on Tangerine with Esko Wallace. All of them had previously been in R&B/Doowop type groups. Maybe your signature was Lous ? That's about the closest.

  7. Yes I know but I was just trying to show you the equivalent UK post rate as you seemed surprised at the US rate.
  8. Assuming full insurance coverage up to £1000 sent as a large letter (most single 45 mailers will qualify) and your country is Germany (apologies if not but would be similar across EU). See below. Work out your own cost here: https://www.royalmail.com/price-finder Hope that helps

Little Miss Flirt is off the O'Kaysions album on ABC I think. Nice track,
  10. There are now a number of portable turntables on the market ranging in price, functionality, availability etc. Like others have said priority would be stylus quality as the cost of records today is crazy and damaging a Larry Clinton is not an option !!. The price point is also a critical factor with some portables in the tens of pounds and some at 1000+. Its the old cost / benefit analysis. I can see demand from both professional and casual record dealers, perhaps those people who don't want or can't afford decks, amps, speaker set up, those new to vinyl from the younger end, fashion retailers like Urban Outfitters who already stock players and vinyl etc etc. There is a good strong and growing market, so best of luck Andy
  11. Thanks Stevie. Saw that one but need it quick for a birthday gift. Andy

  14. just checked and loaded perfect. probably just some site maintenance
  15. Thanks. See where your coming from, but it did grow on me after a couple of plays. But then I like unusual stuff. Andy
  16. Look forward to that Mike. The flip has intrigued me since Bob mentioned it.
  17. The Festivals is a bit of a rare one. I remember Boba putting up a want for it some time ago and saying he's never seen a copy. Would love to hear the flip. Andy
  18. Its common for some Canadian (and other countries) releases to be different from their US 45 rpm releases. Could be that these are tracks on an album which the record company deemed more suitable for the Canadian market. They did many albums so without checking each one, its difficult to be precise.
  19. So, I'm rummaging around in the storage space and find a box of records which I'd totally forgotten about. In there I find the Casanova Two and I'm thinking "foook I didn't realise I had this". Joy upon joy, but then it struck me to check the matrix and run out. Sure enough it has F-2622 scratched in as opposed to stamped in. "Foook" again, but for the wrong reasons. So its a reissue of this, what seems to be an ever constant in demander, in Ex condition overall with small signs of use with a few slight marks on the vinyl which don't cause any issue, but overall still a nice disc and been sat in a box for yonks. £40 plus post at £1.50 UK First, £2.50 recorded, worldwide standard air mail at £5 Paypal as F&F please. PM's any questions etc.... Cheers Andy
  20. This is an official reissue from the Jamie Guyden organisation. I got 6 copies when it was done. Think I have 1 left. Been selling them at £25. The price of the original has gone shooting up, so for most this is the only way to own it. Great tunes both sides.
  21. From Royal Mail.... "If you buy goods online from outside the EU for delivery to the UK, you'll have to pay Customs Duty (if over £120 value) and Import VAT (if over £18) on top of the purchase price (including duties), though Customs Duty is waived if the amount of the calculated duty payable is £7 or less" And this from the Taxman.... https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty I've learned the hard way. If there is something I like and the postage cost is large and having contacted the seller to ask if they would send in accordance with my instructions, I then decide whether to bid or not based on their response. Recent example was a 'Buy it now' at $75 and he wanted $35 post and refused my requests (despite me explaining the whole scenario) so I didn't bid, even though I wanted the 45.
  22. Best find in terms of percentage return on investment was back in the late 70's at the local flea market. Wilbur Walton Jr - 24 hours was covered up and then whilst at Wigan one night it was uncovered. I realised I had seen it a few days before and went back to the market the following week. Paid the princely sum of 5p for it and sold it two days later to a local DJ for £35, which in the late 70's was a good amount of cash. Crap record though, otherwise I would have kept it
  23. Not sure why it wouldn't be the same copy ? Many Ebay sellers put their sound files on YT.
  24. These come from a guy who has the contents of his old long closed record shop in his basement. His shop closed 20 years ago so they have just been sat on the shelf. These are all about the condition. I've not even played these myself !! The vinyl on each looks immaculate although I'll use M- as the grading, and to use the current dealer bullshiiit some are in their "birth sleeves". P&P is £1.50 UK first, £2.50 recorded and special would be at cost. Worldwide standard airmail £5. Payment by PayPal F&F or add 4% to the total price if you want to use this route. Sounds files are from Youtube and not from the 45. The scans are the actual 45 label. PM any questions or queries Cheers +++++++++++++++ Harold Tyler - Reality - Tymo £50 (mid tempo xover - 3 on Discogs between 85 -100 quid ) Original Breed - The Prophet - Karol £30 (top quality xover for the money) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJwmb8kR2Qk These still available also..........................make an offer if you want ! Jean Wells - What have I got to lose - Calla DJ £50 (all time classic crossover unplayed on a shelf for 50 years or so...its all about condition) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1S708rhQK0 5. 25. Never been booted as far as I know. I've had WD and issue copies over the years, but definitely more WD's as they seem easier to find.
