  2. If we're going with the Kittens I'll go for ' How long (can I go on) with the gritty flipside 'I've got to get over you'. Also for the Carltons ' Keep on Hoping' and 'I'm a man' are rather spiffing little ditties !
  3. A few more from the basement find. Some are minty as previous but some show signs of storage for 20+ years. Others are graded as seen. Most of these are on Youtube. UK Grading as follows: Mint - Unplayed (but I don't use this) Ex - A very nice record with a few signs of use VG - good condition may a few surface marks or label wear but still a nice 45 and will play well + / - will grade it a bit tighter and more accurate. 100% refund guarantee Payment by Paypal as F&F or add 4% (please note due to recent individuals and payments if this is not followed payment may be refunded) Postage 1.50 UK first, 2.50 Recorded and 5.00 worldwide PM with questions / orders Cheers Andy +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ben E King - Can't break the news - Atco Ex £35 ( been in storage in a basement unplayed but has a few minor paper lines and label marks etc hence grading) Tyrone Ashley - I want my baby back - Phil a Soul WLP Ex £25 ( has a slight storage dish warp not affecting play - seen quite a few wants for this recently - getting plays again ?) M- £25 (seen this at anywhere between 75 and 150 in recent times - mid tempo NS from Texas - local label before SS7.) 4. Always used Vinyl Carvers. Usually pretty quick and good quality.
  5. Up for sale is the following 45 which I can't find on Popsike or Discogs, and seems pretty obscure. I've not really seen a listing for this. Linda Toussaint - I don't care / when - Soul International £40 Full description Both A&B side vinyl has multiple surface marks and the occasional small light scratch - but it plays well above the grade it looks which I guess would be (VG- for Uk and G+ for US) Play wise its a higher grade. Both labels show some damage with scuffing (see scan) I have attached an mp3 sound file found on the internet (its not my 45) but my copy plays much better than this. All sales 100% guaranteed Paypal payment as F&F or add 4% Post £1.50 UK First, £2.50 recorded and £5 worldwide standard airmail. PM's with questions or to order ATB Andy l toussaint.MP3

  7. Found a duplicate of this great double sided 45 so thought I'd offer it up. Orthea Barnes - I never loved nobody / Waiting for Joey - Coral £30 Full description... A side - label is slightly worn but no rips, stickers or writing and the vinyl has multiple surface marks but no deep gouges or scratches. The run in and first 5 seconds or so does have some surface noise but this fades and is over powered by the music. No skips, jumps etc B Side - I love this very underrated - classic Detroit 'sound'. Label and vinyl as per the A side, but the surface noise here is very minimal and not really heard at all. See scan Overall this plays above a visual grade. All sales 100% guaranteed refund. Paypal as F&F and post £1.50 UK First, £2.50 Recorded Questions, queries of to order please PM. Thanks Andy
  8. To answer the original question....I've bought from the US for 30 years or so and I have to say that until recently their grading has been much better in general. I've often had records described as VG but in fact were mint...just needed a dusting down. However it seems in recent years that as they have become aware of the value of vinyl to collectors, their grading's have slipped. The big boys are still very good but some of the Ebay sales I've had over the last 5 years have not matched the described grade. UK are also pretty good in general but I think there tends to be an acceptance that we don't have access (generally) to the stocks like the US guys, so we accept that our grading may differ slightly which is probably why we include the 'Ex' classification in there as most 50 year old 45's have had a least some use.. To cover other aspects, I don't really mind what classification sellers use, US or UK, just so long as they give an accurate description of the label and vinyl and maybe throw in scans to add more detail. I also think the + / - also helps give a more accurate description. As an occasional seller on SS, I use the UK grades, as someone has pointed out its a big jump from VG to M, and I think its useful and reassuring to buyers to offer 100% no quibble guarantee if not satisfied. Then everyone is covered.
  9. The best Vocoder user was Roger Troutman in Zapp in my humble opinion. Their track 'Computer Love' is my guilty secret
  10. Hi I have a copy of this anti Vietnam / anti war song which has a nice crossover / sweet sound in mint unplayed condition. I saw it on a play list for a well know collector / DJ so may be of interest. Post 1.50 first, 2.50 recorded and £5 worldwide standard airmail. Any special requests will be at cost. Paypal as F&F or add 4% Ed Townsend - Take a vow for peace - EGA Records M £40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBs9DexMyVs PM's for questions or to order. Thanks Andy
  11. Lous Hendricks and Charles Colbert were also in The Trips on Soundville. Jimmy Conwell went on to Smoked Sugar, Godoy Colbert went on to Free Movement but was also in The Visitors on Tangerine with Esko Wallace. All of them had previously been in R&B/Doowop type groups. Maybe your signature was Lous ? That's about the closest.

  13. Not in the band according to the info I have. Allene Robinson, Marian Robinson, Pat Redmond and Connie ...somebody ??
  14. Yes I know but I was just trying to show you the equivalent UK post rate as you seemed surprised at the US rate.
  15. Assuming full insurance coverage up to £1000 sent as a large letter (most single 45 mailers will qualify) and your country is Germany (apologies if not but would be similar across EU). See below. Work out your own cost here: https://www.royalmail.com/price-finder Hope that helps
  16. Little Miss Flirt is off the O'Kaysions album on ABC I think. Nice track,
  17. There are now a number of portable turntables on the market ranging in price, functionality, availability etc. Like others have said priority would be stylus quality as the cost of records today is crazy and damaging a Larry Clinton is not an option !!. The price point is also a critical factor with some portables in the tens of pounds and some at 1000+. Its the old cost / benefit analysis. I can see demand from both professional and casual record dealers, perhaps those people who don't want or can't afford decks, amps, speaker set up, those new to vinyl from the younger end, fashion retailers like Urban Outfitters who already stock players and vinyl etc etc. There is a good strong and growing market, so best of luck Andy
  18. Thanks Stevie. Saw that one but need it quick for a birthday gift. Andy
  19. Need this for a mates birthday. PM if you have one for sale with price and condition or I'll make you an offer - I'm easy either way. Cheers
  20. Just a quick list of cheaper tunes of all sorts. The first few come from a guy who has the contents of his old long closed record shop in his basement. His shop closed 20 years ago so they have just been sat on the shelf. These are all about the condition. I've not even played these myself !! The rest are dupes and sales box sell off stuff P&P is £1.50 UK first, £2.50 recorded and special would be at cost. Worldwide standard airmail £5. Payment by PayPal F&F or add 4% to the total price if you want to use this route. Sounds files can be found on Youtube. The scans are the actual 45 label. PM any questions or queries Cheers Andy ++++++++++++ Lord August & Visions of Light - Found me a new love - V.O.L. 21. just checked and loaded perfect. probably just some site maintenance
  22. Thanks. See where your coming from, but it did grow on me after a couple of plays. But then I like unusual stuff. Andy
  23. Look forward to that Mike. The flip has intrigued me since Bob mentioned it.
  24. The Festivals is a bit of a rare one. I remember Boba putting up a want for it some time ago and saying he's never seen a copy. Would love to hear the flip. Andy
  25. Its common for some Canadian (and other countries) releases to be different from their US 45 rpm releases. Could be that these are tracks on an album which the record company deemed more suitable for the Canadian market. They did many albums so without checking each one, its difficult to be precise.
