  3. Choreo that I know was a NY label, released mostly "dance instruction records". Not sure if that's the label Robb means though. Pretty sweet cover of "No Time For You" & I actually like the "Underdog" track a lot. Is that a cover?? Not sure if they sound all white, might be mixed. Cool find.
  4. was just talking about what the hell is the good van mccoy stuff with a mate the other day, it's a running joke & my argument is that maybe there is none, will have to keep this LP quiet hehehehe (of course i dig the early stuff he produced on others, our long running query regards van's solo mid/late 70s stuff)
  5. nah there was a joe king up maybe a month ago i think, not sure about RE's
  6. picked up this label variation i hadn't seen before the other week NZ press
  7. My copy is legit, not stamped either, has a number & then what looks like a word in cursive starting with an M in the runout. The copies out of Vegas are indeed legit as well, the guy did indeed buy all the dead stock from the estate of the label owner. No boots.
  8. Must be US VG++/UK E+ or better. I did this to my copy this morning by dropping it onto a hard floor, it cracked & then as I was inspecting the crack a chunk came off in my fingers. Not the best way to start my day. Ugh.
  9. This one is a set from one of the recent soul alldayers we do here in NZ. Kind of a mixture of sounds from me this time though. https://www.mixcloud.com/soulscourer/soul/
  10. Threw this together for the Straight From The Playbox series the other month, tracklist is in the mixcloud. https://www.mixcloud.com/beatsofmusic/kris-holmes-straight-from-the-play-box/
  11. Tracklist is on the mixcloud page, the sound of heartbreak https://www.mixcloud.com/Kris_Holmes/youre-gonna-miss-me-kris-holmes-devastating-deep-soul-heartbreakers/
  12. still on each sunday 2-4 New Zealand time https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/43594177
  13. The message came through facebook from this person referencing this thread. But thanks for the offer Mike
  14. A couple of days ago I received an extremely hateful attacking personal message regarding my initial post (now edited) in this thread. It called into question & put down my love & knowledge of soul music, what our soul alldayer events are trying to achieve & above all my personal character. Contrary to this person's words, I do not have a "personal vendetta" against anyone else, anywhere & my initial post contained absolutely no personal attacks of any kind towards anyone. I know that as a record collector, DJ, musician & soul fan I was not alive when this other person was going to northern soul nights in the UK. I can never attempt to speak on what those days or that scene was like. At only 34 years old I do what I do & know what I know. If the last 15 years of travelling overseas to Paris, the UK, the US & Australia DJing soul music & digging through millions of original 45s, releasing my own 45s & meeting, digging & DJing is still not enough that I am attacked personally & have my credentials & knowledge of the music as well as my fibre as a person run down. I really don't know what else I can say. I am saddened that a tiny throwaway non-personal comment on an internet message board sparked such a personal attack. I am sorry for any offence I caused to anyone. It was not intended.
  15. those youtubes ady posted are also new to me, beautiful, really dig the sparseness of this stuff.
  16. I've listened to "I Wanna Thank You" a bunch since you posted it up on facebook Matt & it is just beautiful.
  17. kind of what i always thought but like i said, i'm not so far into they lates 70s stuff....so what do i know
  18. haven't posted one for a while but every sunday it's still on https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/40836208
  19. just had a friend back from the uk & he told me people are talking about this 45 over there, blew us both away, must have flipped past it a million times over the years, i don't spin much late 70s stuff though so i would never have thought.
  20. Small scene here guys. I help do a tri-monthly thing called the NZ Soul All-Dayer. Have a couple of radio shows & several other smaller gigs on the go. Here is the All Dayer website https://www.thenzsoulalldayer.blogspot.co.nz/ we do a Zine to go with it & are also taking the party on the road over the summer. A lot of fun & it's a pretty young crew of us all trying to get things happening right here finally. Because it's a small scene I've found I have to cater for a lot of different soul sounds to get people to come. So there is usually 50s R&B through to present modern soul sounds getting spun. It's the only way to make it work here. We get 300 people to the All Dayers & they are a load of fun. But yeah any questions or if you find yourself here in Auckland let me know.
