  1. Numero's new Boddie box set, so many crackers I don't even know where to start, incredibly well done.
  2. damn, that's a stormer, so many great records on Brainstorm.
  3. what does the 45 of this look like? don't think i've ever come across it.
  4. absolutely love this 45, hard as nails, probably the best on the label I reckon.
  5. I'd actually go as far to say that from the first Federal through to the last Hi 45 you can't actually go too far wrong with Syl, something for everyone, R&B, Soul, Funk, Crossover, Ballads. It's all there & done pretty damn well for the most part.
  6. thanks, had totally missed this, now ordered & on it's way
  7. classic, almost female vocals now, funny.
  8. there is absolutely no reason for anyone to not own this record, one of my faves
  9. it's there under Year's People/Frank Tenella
  10. Have started chipping away at this mess. Currently on free hosting but will look at transferring it to it's own domain once I get it going properly. Check it out. https://greenvilleandbeyond.wordpress.com/
  11. do you know the famous quote: " all record collectors are pretentious assholes"?
  12. had the same experience with some removal guys I used to move house one time I can't remember which records i paid the most for but I know I've been just over $300 a few times, the fact that they are deeply filed & unmemorable at this point suggests maybe I should have spent the money on other things or that I have too many records
  13. funk & soul, internet cut outs mean it's in 3 parts this week https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19213978 https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19215946 https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19216181
  14. these facts definitely weigh in on my reasoning for the connection, i'd love to know for sure though..... i will leave it in the discography for now but with a question mark beside it..... If it is Hines related it is really weird that he wouldn't have his name on the label somewhere...... Maybe it is just too early...
  15. The Earl King & Allen Orange credits on the Barbara Jean makes me think New Orleans for that one & the time period (early 60s) is right for the New Orleans operation but none of the credits match up with the other Odex stuff, it's a bit of a weird one when put agains the other later Odex 45s.
  16. Is this: related to this?: The layout & 133 prefix says maybe but the other credits say probably not.....
  17. agreed, just follow Pete S' posts & I think it makes sense that way
  18. to throw collectors 40 years down the track
  19. Ivy Jo Hunter & Ivory Joe Hunter & Joe Hunter = so much room for confusion
  20. soundcloud or divshare are easiest ways to link to mp3s much quicker/easier than youtube.
  21. Barbara Lynn on the old design is from 1962 so the orange label version is clearly a reissue in that case, the LP was also reissued with the orange label in the late 60s-early 70s.
  22. This is slightly tricky. The changeover from label designs is supposed to have happened in 1967 according to BSN but both these 45s are from 1968 & exist on both designs. I would call them 2nd presses. The promos are on the old design, then there is stock on the old & new design. Common sense would put the orange label after the white but I can't say exactly how much after as Jamie were pretty good at keeping stuff in print. Has anyone seen a promo on orange?
  23. awesome news, glad to see them doing right!
  24. this is my stuff, love it also if you haven't seen this movie, it's really great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPlX2K1vl-A&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PLE6BC0BBD09A9F8E0
  25. yep, only real issues arise from poorly pressed records which although maybe unplayed will play noisy. I'm looking at you certain Jamie, Sue & 4 Brothers vinyl 45s for example. Trashed records which play mint should be given the visual grade & then have an aural grade added as an addition in a perfect world.
