Someones' probably put this already but the Fifth Dimensions lp versh is a bit good an all. Regards Jim.
  3. Paul Peterson ' Your loves got me burning alive'. If only.
  4. Have had this on a tape or cd, (can't remember which) for yonks & it's rather choice. Anyone idea what it's on, lp or whatever?? Regards Jim.
  5. 'Got to Love' off the Anchor album. Have been playing & liking this a little too much lately. Is there anywhere where lovers of mid seventies white soft rock pap can obtain free confidential counselling or advice. Regards Jim.
  6. Sweeter than sugar, love song & hope we have. Have played 'em over & over for years Incredible music Regards Jim.
  7. Someone on Saturday nite (sorry can't remember who) at Yarmouth played a track by the Pioneers (I think on Mercury) called 'My good friend James', and jolly nice it was too. Am I right in saying this group were/are known by another name?as I was having an alchohol fuelled debate about this with a mate who is nearly as poorly informed about these matters as me. Regards Jim. Bloody great weekend by the way.
  8. Let the music play- Roy Hamilton, Kent. Here is a heart- Barbara Acklin, Brunswick. How long is a heartache supposed to last-Jimmy Lewis, Hotlanta. The world needs more people like you-Phillip Mitchell, Jayboy. Thats what I'm gonna do-George Jackson- Grapevine cd. Torture- Maxine Brown, Kent. Sorry too many Regards Jim.
  9. The flip to Patrice Holloways' 'Stay with your own kind', (Capital) a track called 'Thats all you got to do', always has me shimmying around the kitchen clicking the odd finger when doing the dishes, great stuff, penned by Mr Hutchinson as well I believe. Neither played much these days unfortunately . Regards Jim.
  10. Getting off tack here I suppose but Sam's sets (and just about all the other dj's) at the Orwell/ Yarmouth are far beyond criticism, Alex Brown, Solid Solution, Robert Tanner 'the Smogg' et al, bloody marvellous. Jim.
  11. Many thanx chaps. Jim.
  12. Probably very well known by all (except me) 'Here we go loving again' on Piedmont is just wonderful. Is it a hard one to come by? Regards Jim.
  13. Im a bit partial to this track meeself, but my better half says it sounds like Barbara Streisand. Ever since since then I' ve been pressing the skip button when it comes on. I'm so easily lead Jim.

Pete Warner, is he white? Camper than a row of pink tents this track (IMO) . Seriously tho' can we realistically truely 'value' records anymore? It's a bit of a cliche now I suppose but surely their only worth what we're willing to pay as individuals. Who knows? Jim
  15. Strange one the Tolbert track, a bit on the bassy and loud side for me, especially at the Orwell after too much of the old black stuff. Wahey Jim.

Choice tune, only heard it out a handful of times tho' (mostly in Oxford Street) On a Kent album too. Jim

Have to agree with above comments. Whilst not wanting to sound too 'up my own a?*e' and snobby most of the 'returning soulies' in this area of the land are perfectly happy to listen to their youth club spins and fried chicken theme tunes on the wireless and particularly at local do's. Some of us however, are not. Different strokes I suppose Regards Jim
  18. I've had it c/w Wanted. This vocally inferior version to Georges choice tune on Turntable recently reappeared in a box of records in the cupboard under the stairs. Anyone know how much it is going for? Apparently issued on a local lable before being picked up by Sue's Crackerjack logo ( can't remember what tho') Regards Jim.
  19. Yeah, I used to spin my Alfie Noakes 'stories from the north' cover up at the local hop, although as we all know it went on to be a huge Hi-Energy remake and went massive at the Chocolate Starfish in London. And now it's back to topless darts at Roehampton.
  20. Spinners every time, anyone who says otherwise is a 'flamin' gallah' Regards Steve Irwin

Havent collected the singles but just wanted to say the albums are superb, Richard Caiton, Peachtree story, Johnny Moore, Reflection Sound story and America's most wanted vol 1 are out of this world.Standouts are Ron Hendersons I'll be around and Emory and the Dynamics Things that a lady ain't supposed to do. Nice.
  22. 'I dont have to worry'. Picked this up a good few years ago now at one of the superb Allanton niters North of the border for about £15. As I'm a bit of a div when it comes to all this Soul lark does anyone know anyhing about it's history, spins, label, value etc? Looks very obscure to my eyes. Cheers Jim.

'I'm in love with you baby' by the Vanster himself on Buddah a bit good 'an all, although I think it's Chris Bartley on vocals. Jim.
  24. Early eighties, a chap turned up on his own my (then) local disco in deepest darkest Kent with a clutch of Motown Gold sevens and Dobies all time classic on Inferno, got the d-jay to play them, danced on his own in a big circle with everyone watching and then left, never saw him again. That was it, the following week everyone turned up in Boxing boots (?) combat trousers (?) and muttering things about having been to Wigan Casino (although we were all about 13 at the time). The next four years were spent collecting compilations and waiting to be old enough to go to the 100 club. Although I did get in at the tender age of 16 (some big northern bloke with tattoos smuggled me in in his holdall). The 100 club was and still is my spiritual home Soul wise, although I don't go as often as I'd like, when Clarky, Keb, Val et al were on form the place was on fire. Thats it. Jim.
  25. Class all the way, rarely off my dex at home this. I payed about £25 from Mr Banks about three or four years ago at a Bretby do I think. Mine's allrite label wise. Just as good as the slightly overated and certainly overpriced Constellations (IMO). Jim.
