I mentioned this briefly during the paul Thompson debate,on my last trip stateside I picked up a record on Volt by the leaders called "Which way". I have heard it on a tape or somewhere in the distant past. Its a great crossover type 2 step dancer but nobody I know seems to know much about it, value, rarity etc, anyone help? chris

Around 1993 I got talked into going to a Friday night at Bretby and it was like a brand new beginning. The quality of music being played by Chris Anderton (how could someone so young be so knowledgeable), Steve Smith, and others was fantastic. They were so open minded, anything went as long as the quality was good. Had some good nights since but I'll never forget those Bretby Friday nights. ................. As I said before I found 3 copies of paul thompson issue 2 years ago but its still a bloody hard record, oh and lets not forget its fuckin awesome too! I know what the "Eric Lomax" cover up is, but I guess thats because I go to the States with Shifty and he told me what it was. Put it this way, its not gonna turn up in quantity. carl does have a copy now, he got it from Shifty, not that he has quantity or anything, just the 2 copies, one auctioned and one sold to his fishing buddy Carl! I recently picked this up in Chicago having seen a picture in Tim Browns price guide although from memory no price was listed. Its a very nice crossover shuffler but I have`nt got a clue about value,rarity etc. Even though I`m hanging on to it , it would be nice to know more info............anyone help? Cheers, chris

I agree with you Dave, but mine is a personal view, I know some guys who would`nt play in their own back garden at a barbeque for less than £150, and thats up to them, its something I really enjoy, never a chore so why charge more. When I collected my DJ fee at Prestatyn this year I saw a list with everyones name and fee on it............you would be suprised........... Chris.

I was (tonight) asked to DJ at a venue 30 miles away and I said I charged £50 if the promoter had a good night, nothing if he did`nt break even. I DJ`d the other week and the place was half empty, really enjoyed myself but would`nt take a penny. I suppose its because this is the way other DJs used to be with me when I promoted. DJing to me is an honour and a pleasure, I know its not the same for everyone but thats my personal view, and I really enjoy it too. Bearing in mind that I (and many others) could play 10k worth of records in an hour I dont think £50 is too much...... Chris
