  1. Maybe not Jaco. Take your point there mate.
  2. The threads Simon refers to provide all the analysis needed.
  3. My copy was in good nick. Not EX or VG++, but definitely a strong VG+
  4. Just gone for $650 on Ebay. Paid almost exactly the same for mine off Ebay a few months ago.
  5. Please PM if you have one you are willing to part with please. Thanks.

Site rules ask for sellers to leave prices up after sales please so that members can track current values etc.
  7. There was a want for the Chevrons on here yesterday.
  8. Agree. What a price for this brilliant record.
  9. Lebby or Amjo. Please PM if you have one you are willing to sell. Thanks.
  10. You can expect to pay twice your estimate for Shades Of Love on Delon.
  11. Sad news indeed. Thoughts are with Tony's family and close friends.
  12. Sadly, whilst I acknowledge where you are coming from, this point of view epitomises what has gone wrong and why there is already an underground scene - and long may that last, long may it feed the media-hungry, nostalgia-driven, overground and commercial scene which now exists and has dominated this thread. There are many on this 'scene' who know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Your premise, Ian, is based on the presumption that said record box will by default be stuffed full of acknowledged, relatively high price 45s, probably known, tried-and-trusted to fill most dancefloors - Natural Four (on ABC), Seven Souls, Charades etc etc - we all know the score and we've all heard the same set over and over, ad nauseum at soul nights and niters the length and breadth of the UK. From a personal perspective and I suspect from the perspective of many on this thread, this is not how we see things. Many are interested in the DJ that will stand at the decks and champion a box load of carefully researched items which will not necessarily command 3 or 4 figure prices. All anyone with a limited budget and, more importantly, an open mind and a thirst for sounds new to their ears, needs to do is scour the sales pages on this site day-in, day-out. You will find many, many 45s with potential, many already known, but not widely so, ripe for activation or reactivation. The idea that a viable and attractive playbox needs to have a retail value running into tens of thousands of pounds is a myth. Every record played on this scene started life cheap until someone saw its potential.

I don't know what that sendspace.com is mate, but my laptop thinks it is going to infect the crap out of it. Suggest you use a more recognised music download for your sales.
  14. Didn't Butch get his Jesse James "Love Is Alright" (Volcanos c/up) and the Sherrys "World Of Happiness" ( i.e. Emanons "Bird Walking" vocal) acetates direct from Weldon?
  15. So, if you didn't want to play those records to those people, why did you pack them in your DJ box?
  16. Errrrr.............Ian, you better believe it mate. Every man and his dog currently occupying the so-called top jock slots seem to have this and take every opportunity going to let us know that they have it, amongst others in their armoury of repetitiveness and tedium...........Salvadors, Lou Pride, Del Larks etc etc etc..........
  17. I think what Soulhawk means is that if you are having to play sets constantly using those same tired, hackneyed records and physically wearing them out, then you are not doing your job properly as a Rare Soul/Northern Soul DJ. I think his point is that you are a pretty unimaginative, predictable and shit DJ if that's all you can offer - a few same old, same old bits, played over and over ad nauseum (at least that's my interpretation). I don't think he is referring to care using the decks etc, though I stand to be corrected............on my interpretation of Soulhawk's post mind, not my sentiments about playing the same old, sa..................... ........ oh! Eddie Parker? Again??!!...............................excuse me while I..........
  18. Droll? As in "amusing", or "humourous"?
  19. Yes - YCMWLA = You Changed My Whole Life Around. I have that. It's the HL&S on Vick that it seems only Carl F has.
  20. Blimey! So it did come out on Vick then. Not surprising I suppose. That must look tasty alongside YCMWLA. Still only Carl F with a copy? Or can anyone else on here boast one?
  21. Never heard of HL&S coming out on Vick, only Mica.
  22. (1) Price/value has nothing to do with any of this at all as far as I'm concerned - I couldn't care less whether a record costs £10 or £10,000 (2) None of this has anything to do with the legitimacy of the release - Motown Dave articulated the merits or otherwise of contemporaneous or near contemporaneous UK releases in one line above - and that is the key to authenticity; was the UK (or other country) release contemporaneous with the US release or was it prompted significantly later by exposure to the Northern scene? Former = OVO; latter = non-OVO
  23. This is getting surreal now...................
