Might have a spare of this. What's the going rate?
  6. Just to clear up any confusion. It's not mine Would I be so devious
  7. Boogaloosoul - 10 years and still standing. OK, it's not the longest running in the UK but it is the longest running in Greenwich and I couldn't resist the chance for a quick plug. It's on this Saturday night, by the way, for those of you who live in Landan and still haven't been down. You know who you are :D
  8. Dunno if you're still looking but there's one on ebay as we speak https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Latin-Northern-Soul-45-Harvey-Averne-Dozen-mp3-/180635632592?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2a0eb903d0

I remember saying to a mate at a do that I'd forgo the one on offer for £300 coz it'd be back to £150 in a few months. Mind you I think we were in Wigan Casino at the time. I'll keep playing my £50 album version.

I'd check your lookbacks boys. Anyway, at least this keeps Tomas's want current, eh? He's probably found one by now

Truth be known it was actually Marco that first reactivated it at the 100 club. We just nicked it off him
  13. The San Francisco TKOs - "Make Up Your Mind" on Kent anniversary single only please. Pm me with prices. Cheers

Pottsy has one for sale/offers in the sales section
  16. I've always loved the funky edge of things played on the Northern scene and I love funk for its own sake, anyway, BUT, I find a lot of what's played as funk on this scene all sounds like the same record with just a different label. Have I turned into my parents?

Unless he can prove you've received it (recorded delivery etc) both ebay and paypal will side with you and you'll get your money back. It might be worth telling the seller you've posted this on here to see if they change their tone. Don't have all the facts but his reaction sounds a bit 'over the top' to me. Best of luck.
  18. I liked the clip so much I've just bought myself a copy. Happy soul music at it's best. Cheers Ian

Babba Brookes - the jerk - gay feet Jimmy Ricks - bad man of Missouri - baton Give us a buzz/pm if you've got either with prices. Cheers
  22. I can't comment for the scooter scene as I'm not a scooterist but I was very pleasantly surprised at the reaction to the tunes I played at Hipshaker on the IOW rally. Probably a bit more left field than my usual set and it all seemed to go down spiffingly well. Really enjoyed it with plenty of people digging rare and classic sounds in equal measure. This may have more to do with the fact that it was the IOW weekend but I've found that over the 12 years I've been back on the soul scene (and the 9 years I've been running Boogaloosoul) I've noticed loads of scooter guys and girls have definitley maturing in the musical tastes from being just oldies vultures to apprecialting more eclectic sounds.

Well, I for one am pleeeeezed that Bobby has hit that price as it puts Latin Soul/Boogaloo back in the limelight. Funny thing is I had it in my sales box a couple of months ago for a lot less than was sold on John's auction and was told that "I'd never pay that for a record I could have bought for £20 20 years ago". How we laughed. There's still some cracking Latin bubbling around at great prices if you can find 'em. Here's a few to consider and I reckon any of these could be as big as Bobby or Hector: Pepe Fernandez - Having Fun Ray Barretto - New York Soul Orchestra Harlow - El Exigente Ray Medina - Head´s Head (not cheap but you can't leave it out) Freddie and Henchie - Biscuits and Buttermilk Afro Blues Quintet - La la la la la Johnny Zamot - I got that feeling Ray Rodriquez - Oh, that's nice Gran Combo - Gran Combo's Boogaloo Widfredo Figuera - Monkey see
  24. I didn't think there was an official 'white demo' of this. Don't the real demos have the same label as the issues but with the words DJ Copy printed on them? I could be wrong
