Ultimates On Valentine
Now that is amazing. Must place it late 70s then, I'm not aware of anything else on the label? Always suspected the Captivo group may have been the same outfit though. The flip of Why I Love You is top draw funky edged northern soul. It's a very rare piece.

Pete, there is a product that you can buy from Lakeland and other online retailers, its called "Sticky Stuff Remover" just google it, theres loads of retailers on line. I've used it many many times and hit works. Like all wet things you put on labels, the darken them slightly, however this product dries and leaves no marks.- Ree Flores - Look Into My Heart

BUT WHY???? I've always wondered why some people glue c/u labels directly on the records, rather than just cello-tape round the edge to the dead wax. I'm serious, I really would like to know just what the motive or reason is.- Delites - Lover On Uk
Many many years ago, I was on a trip to Hurts Yard with Kev Draper, where we found a copy of the Delites Destiny issue. Kev Roberts, thought they had discarded all the issues. Heres the story he (Kev Roberts) told Kev Draper and I. We had the rights to to The New Wanderers "This Man in Love", but Grapevine released it before we had chance, so in retaliation we decided to press The Delites "Lover" as demo only. When questioned about a "stray' Destiny Blue issue, we found buried in the shelves upstairs, Kev Roberts said, in a shocked voice, oh.. I thought we had discarded the all of the blue issue stock, we certainly have never released it for sale!! (might explain Pete Smiths explanation of Demo labels stuck over blue issues?) Kev Draper and I looked everywhere for more blue issues, but couldn't find not one other single copy. We then asked if Destiny were going to issue the New Wanderers, he smiled and said, no I doubt it. Since then, I've always wondered if out there somewhere is a New Wanderers on Destiny??? I'm pretty sure the the Delites Destiny Issue is a very scarce item, interestingly it was released with the flip side of a totally different Cuppy release by the Zombies. Weird!!!! Strange world of Northern Soul!!- Sorted
- Emeralds On Vick
Could it have been on the arrangement side Bob?- Emeralds On Vick
Hi Bob, seem to recall something about the Counts, Peaches Baby?? ATB Andy- The Delites Lover Alternative Acetate Take
To these ears, there is no doubt they definitely issued the right version. An interesting earlier mix though.- Emeralds On Vick
Very strange price result, maybe it was something about the Shrine connection.- Is The 'Upfront' Soul Scene Disappearing Up It'S Own A*se?
Here is how I see it... Northern Soul consists of different styles of soulful danceable music. The 'current or upfront' Northern Soul scene is actually quite small, and has been gradually been shrinking for years. The resurgence in northern soul popularity has been in the 'nostalgic or classic' Northern Soul scene. These two scenes are quite different and have totally different dynamics and customers expectations. People like Kev Roberts cater for the 'nostalgic' scene very well. The nostalgic scene will shrink back very rapidly soon has the age factor kicks in. It will then consist of local social nights and the odd weekender / convention. A bit like it is shaping into now actually. The upfront scene has probably shrunk to its limit and already bottomed out. There is probably only room for 2 or 3 upfront venues at the very most. As the nostalgic boom shrinks back, the upfront scene will expand slightly, also by those wanting to crossover into a fresher scene. The nostalgic scene consists of a few thousand, the current scene consists of a few hundred. The nostalgic scene is about enjoying the past. The upfront scene is about shaping the future.- Lucky Charms Tied To Your Heart How Much ?
You know, i think you might be right actually, Gary uncovered it fairly quickly if i remember right. - Southern Sounds Of Soul On Custom Soul
