  1. Now this may be a daft question but, Mandingo Productions, Four Tracks. Well where are the other two tracks? One release, two tracks, are the other two tracks 'in the can' / unreleased??? Get my drift? Anyone know the full story behind Mandingo, I know there are suggestions that link it to Golden World, but where are the other two intended tracks????
  2. Dave, check out the the Parliaments "This is my Rainy Day" ...... A one, a two, a one, come on ........ This is my rainy day...... Killer!!!
  3. Hi Marc, I don't want to sound nationalistic, and forgive me if I do, but I do understand and have empathy with James' feelings and words. I think the key in his comments also sit in his reference to DJ that can do something with it. James clearly wants the sound to be played out and get recognition and become widely known. I think his suggestion that the UK would the 'best chance of this happening' is in balance also true. Marc, I know as do many here, that you and others have done some amazing things to break new northern records in other countries outside the UK, however James sentiments over a UK based DJ (with balls!) is understandable and on balance makes sense. In the future, this may well (and probably) not be the case, and you know my views on the future of the Northern/rare soul scene on a global footprint. Warm regards, Andy

  7. Over the the coming months, I will be selling the middle and back end of my collection. No other reason apart from logistical. The collection contains oldies, obscurities, cheapies, rare things, 60' and 70's from across the raresoul spectrum. I will start listing in a few weeks time. However before I start this process, if anyone has any particular wants, then you have an opportunity to contact me. If I have them and a price is agreed then I will service these wants before I start listing. Priced wants will receive priority. Please don't make your requests too long and keep them realistic. I will provide details of the lists in a week or so. They will contain Set Sale and Auction items. I can be contacted via PM. God bless, Andy
  8. Yes, Tim's book on British Zoos is an excellent read and very useful guide. It's written in his knowledgeable and tongue in cheek style. Very enjoyable. Full of history and content of the exhibits and collection offerings of British zoos.
  9. I do think this is a Chicago 45. The other label releases suggest so.

  17. I met Max as recently as 4 years ago, it was at NCS Allnighter in Manchester. There I was with a small sales box with a few choice rarities, when this man stopped and politely looked through. He pulled out "The Appreciations - I Can't Hide It - Aware". He started talking to me, and expressed he would really like to have it. I had another 2 people that night want the record, both with cash. Max unfortunately didn't have cash that night, but he endeared such a warm feeling in me, that for some reason, I just wanted him to have it. He promised, he would send payment on Monday. I didn't know him, but for some reason, just felt like I did (almost like an old friend). Chris Waterman, came up to me and said (and I'll never forget it) "Andy, you'll never meet a more honest man", thanks Chris, but I had already made my mind up, Blue Max, had to have this record. Max asked if I would hold it for him, I said No, but I would let him take it with him there and then. His eyes lighted up, not with gladness, but almost with a sense of proudness of me as a fellow soulie. Payment turned up first post on Tuesday. I'll never forget that encounter with Max. He was special, he brought out the very best in me, and many others, I'm sure. A beautiful and wonderful man. My sympathies go out to his dearest family and all his friends. Some people, just leave something with you forever. Andy Killick APPRECIATIONS - I CANT HIDE IT -
  18. So many years ago. This is how I remember it. Elaine and The Shodells appeared first, black label I think?? Yes Sam did play it circa 79ish. Dave Raistrick turned up the Dry Well release on an Orange label, which was a 1 off at the time, which he sold to me in 1980 for £40 (a lot at the time). Both 45s were identical songs and cuts. The LP which emerged later is a different take and vocals, more poppy.
