  1. I really enjoyed it, how could you not with some of that soundtrack! Half an hour wasn't long enough It obviously didn't reflect the whole scene, but I like that fact, some things are best kept a secret, & underground. Not a bad watch at all Regards Ali x
  2. Me too!! Arrived this morning, as I was leaving the house .... two copies actually! & guess what, I'm stuck in on wet Saturday night, in my jimjams, slightly bored, but cosy, & both copies are in the boot of my ruddy car .... in my garage .... which is a few minutes walk from the house!! Pffft !!!

  5. Robbie you are beautiful just like your mom, & she will live on in you, & in our hearts. I lost my mum 14 years ago & it's the worst thing I've ever had to endure, (& am still overcome with grief at times) but time is a great healer, & you have god on your side who will carry you through. Stay strong & cherish the memories of your irreplaceable mom. She really was a special lady. Sending love & special thoughts to you & your family Alison x
  6. It's been heartbreaking seeing the little fella deteriorate, such a cruel illness. Rest in Peace now Smiler, & make them smile up there, as you made us smile down here Will never forget you Gary With Love & Sympathy Alison xxx

  8. It's an entertaining & fun read Glyn ha ha Mr Canal ..... "I fart in their general direction" lol doesn't he know we have a weapon of mass destruction in Mace who can fart right back at him lol GamleOle talks some sense, & nice to see young Dante on there (tho he hasn't been on here for a while :o( ) Oh, & if Dor is the person on his Avatar I want to marry him :o))) ...... tho when he realises I'm the person on my Avatar I've no ruddy chance lol
  9. Mary Love Comer was the first live artist to make me cry during a performance and that was when she performed "Come out of the Sandbox" at the first Cleethorpes Weekender. I went backstage to meet the fine lady, she was so humbling, and I was taken aback when she admitted that she was extremely nervous before her performance, I had to pinch myself, how could this songstress be nervous about performing in front of us, but she was, & it proved what a lovely genuine lady she was. She kindly gave me her autograph, with a few simple words, that seem fitting to reciprocate now ................................. God Bless You Mary Love Rest in Peace Mary Alison x Here's a lovely photo of Mary the night we met
  10. Such a haunting voice that melts me every time. First heard Bobby "Blue" Bland when I was on the UK Mod scene in the mid 80's, and I was hooked. Rest in Peace Bobby Thank you for the Blues Alison x
  11. Had to smile when I saw this thread & thought "Cluggy is not happy about Cleggy" :o))) I see where you're coming from Mark (Cluggy) & I'm sure everything will work out fine on the night. See you & everyone else (good or naughty lol) in lovely Cleethorpes for the 20th year anniversary !! Yippee!! Regards Ali x
  12. Only saw them for a second, but it looked like the Supremes to me, or were they The Primettes then?
  13. Incredible he was, & it amazed me even more how he did it so effortlessly, while sitting down in his comfy chair (alright it was a throne, but not very nice of me to say he did it so effortlessly while sitting on the throne) Most singers have to be standing up to belt it out, not King Solomon Will you tell Annette I said Hi x
  14. Apologies Graham, I've just watched it for the second time tonight & he did slip one in :o) Regards Ali
  15. I like that term .... ridiculously good !!! Sums it up in a nutshell ( gonna have to nick that term at some point in the future lol)
  16. Pure Sex to me ;o) & Pure Stax to you guys :o) Can't recall any back drops? Plenty of fancy footwork, hip action, powerful vocals, & lots & lots of sweat ... Beautiful !!! (Right, I'm going to have to stop thinking, or writing about their performance lolol) What a great Friday night in with BBC4 !! Ali
  17. Agree, The Big O documentary was excellent! and Oh my giddy aunt, Sam & Daves performance was jaw dropping .... Pure Sex!!! (I'm allowed to say that, it's after the watershed) I'm loving it all!!
  18. Your middle paragraph made me smile as it reminds me of the first (& last time) I took my older sister to a Northern Soul do. It was early on in the night, & no one was dancing, then this one girl gets up & dances. My sister nudges me, & says "ooh look at her, she doesn't half love herself, dancing there on her own, look at her" (the girl didn't love herself as it happens, she was simply dancing to the music) I almost wet myself laughing, & explained to my sister that Soul folk do dance on their own (granted, I wouldn't have taken to that empty dancefloor like she did, but that's only cos I'm a shxt dancer lol) Regards Ali
  19. Ow do Peter :o) Totally agree that INL was played & played back in the day (& rightly so!) & I was mad on it then, but I'm getting soft in my old age & prefer EM now .......... would still dance to them both now, but EM pulls at my heartstrings whereas INL pulls at my memories Ali x
  20. I actually prefer "Everything Man". Both great records, without a doubt!! & I've worn many dancefloors out to "I need Love" but "Everything Man" has that little special something, well it does for me anyway :o)
  21. Ain't got a clue, but I've done your ironing lolol
