  1. Love to see GLENSOULSOUNDS reply to the revelation of the answer to his question.
  2. This topic has fu**ked my calendar up I keep thinking April the first has been and gone
  3. People do want to buy them and till the market drops this activity will continue , these sort of boots though con no one I suppose and it is just a sideshow to the scene that most people on here relate to.
  4. Sounds like Timi , but I would have thought if this information was mentioned on back of LP sleeves it would be a well known fact to fans of hers and would be mentioned in Timi Yuro bios.
  5. I get that too Ian, but after seeing so many of our artists make nothing at all and leave the industry broke and disillusioned , to see someone like Candi still in the business after all these years makes me happy and good luck to her and the other survivors.
  6. Made a few more recordings to help pay her bills maybe ? just because we think it does not fit in with our image of a soul singer, making money is what a professional artist is all about.

If he takes that he has got a good deal out of a bad one I get the feeling though it will be declined .

I think we have all bought soul packs in the past and knew that for the few good items we might receive the majority would be fillers . I do not condone selling thrashed records but for anybody to spend £1000 on a soul pack is extremely naïve , trying a smaller pack first might have made more sense when buying the unknown.
  9. Any idea why people are/were prepared stupid money for this boot other than its rare on an original and a great record but so are many other booted records. Got one upstairs in a box somewhere which I bought in the 70s I would assume it is this boot .
  10. Been engrossed the last few days with the Levine Soul Pack debate but now Maslar has come on and it seems to be developing into the same as the threads on the political forum now defunct , which Masler seems to put a new slant on everything to just provoke reaction .
  11. I would be very surprised if this album got released on Truth , the Shirley Brown LP got out at around the same period and the single was a hugh smash the last big one for Stax , maybe Stax just pushed the Brown lp and just left the Wright Lp in the can due to the similar style of the two singers and material. Maybe they intended to release the album at a later date but before that Stax imploded.
  12. Your taste in music must have been pretty dire at that time Ian to let those two go
  13. Don't know much about licensing but if the record was a reissue would it not have been licenced from Stax/Fantasy and not David Johnson Broadway productions which it was ?
  14. I think I know where you coming from as someone who regards the album from a scene sort of thing , but someone like myself who listens to music from a armchair it was a bloody godsend , I still rate it as a classic album and always will .
  15. Cannot give you a month of release but the album first got a mention in the issue 10 earlyish 1989 of V F T S albeit a very small one by Jan Barker , the next time it got a mention was in issue 12 of the same year again by Jan Barker , it was also listed as for sale by Record Corner in the same issue. Very surprisingly there was never a full review of the said LP in V F T S , looking at the promotion the Lp got those of us who bought a copy were the lucky ones.
  16. Thanks for that , could also be called a '' what's the point project '' also I suppose if there is no deceit involved for the buyer of the initial records.
  17. Been reading this topic with interest , but could somebody tell me what is a '' vanity project '' as described in a few earlier posts ? is not a bootleg just that ?
  18. '' Make a complete stand yeah not a half man''
  19. Who are the idiots paying these prices for these records ?
  20. Sounds like a dog bark to me , was Terrier Callier involved
  21. Thanks for the heads up definitely worth a listen
  22. I agree the backing spoilt some good records that Levine cut on Motorcity but that was also a fault with most new releases at that time, even Malaco and the like fell into the trap with a lot of their recordings and you felt that great songs, great singers shame about the drum machines and such. The amount of LPs I bought in the eighties and nineties and thought if only they had used real instruments .
  23. The Willie Hutch version appears on the Expansion double vinyl Lp '' Try It You'll Like It '' released in 2003. It was also recorded by G.C. Cameron on his '' Love Songs And Other Tragedies '' album , which is available on vinyl.

It has cured my tinnitus, only problem is I've got the tune ringing in my ear instead of the ringing.
