  14. You Make Me Feel !! Was that played in M's ??? I asked Russ Winstanley a while back if it ever got played in the main hall and he said 100% No !! It must have been towards the end because Sylvester didn't come out til 1978 and it was in the charts for months on end, Pigbag also in M's thank god I'd stopped going Anyway I started this thread almost 18 months ago,And the radio show it was first used to advertise is still going strong, On this afternoon 3-5 Uk time 15.00 - 17.00 Gmt, Michael Harvey (MickeyFish)is on with me today www.funkysentialradio.co.uk
  15. I've mentioned this on here before,Years ago I may add, The Ritz all dayer Manchester circa 76 ish Not the greatest of gigs but certainly one of the funniest, Barbara Pennington,Evelyn Thomas & L J Johnson, Anyway if you remember the old Ritz,The stage was revolving,The centre bit turned,So they could get another group on quicker etc. Anyway time for L J Johnson to do Your Magic Put A Spell On Me, He sits on his stool and starts to play away,Only his stool was on the revolving bit,But his piano was on the static part of the stage, Half way through the stage starts to turn,He moves but the piano stays still,One of those you had to be there moments,Piss yerself funny at the time !!
  16. This thread was started in August 2011, The show is still on going and it will be show 53 this coming Sunday, Playing LIVE from 15.00 - 17.00 Uk The show is selected and presented by the listeners via podcast and a live phone in each week,And put together and presented by myself, The music is what the listeners select !! All Northern Soul mainly classic oldies,But a touch of the Darkside thrown in for good measure, Sunday afternoon 3-5 https://www.funkysentialradio.co.uk/the-northern-side
  17. Many thanks for all of the replies,Not sure when It will go out still putting it together, The show plays every Sunday afternoon fro 15.00 - 17.00 Gmt.It's a live broadcast so every now and again a few slight co*k up's It's 100% Northern all the way, I try to vary the content on most weeks,The show is put together on a listener request basis and the motto of the show is "Our Music Chosen By You", I play a selected instrumental track every week and in the first hour a married couple from Germany Email me their Postcard with 3 or 4 tunes on with themselves introducing the tracks,Some on here may know them Steve & Faxy Armitage, In the second hour I play the 2 that charted section,Two tracks that where big on the scene and then crossed over into the UK charts,Then we have a live phone in link to Northern Ireland when a listener selects his 3 tunes that he introduces himself,Again a few of you may know him he used to be quite active on here at one time Kev Newry, As I said before it goes out LIVE every Sunday, The station website is www.funkysentialradio.co.uk Once again many thanks for all the replies Grant
  18. Thanks that will go on the list,And thank you for the reply
  19. I present an Internet Northern Soul show and I'm thinking of doing a Mr M's special for the whole two hours of my slot, Any suggestions for an all time Mr. M's playlist ?? Thanks in advance. Update on some of the tracks suggested Gene Chandler - Nothing Can Stop Me Otis Blackwell - It's All Over Me August & Deneen - We Go Together Ronnie & Robyn - As Long As You Love Me Mitch Ryder - Breakout Vel-Vets - I've Got To Find Me Somebody Ann Perry - That's The Way He Is (instr) Vibrations - Cause You're Mine Mr.Floods Party - Compared To What The Velours - I'm Gonna Change Don Thomas - Come On Train Saxie Russell - Psychedelic Soul Ace Cannon - Sea Cruise Nolan Chance - Just Like The Weather Gene Chandler - I Can Take Care Of Myself Gwen & Ray - Build Your House On A Strong Foundation Reggie Garner - Hotline Younghearts - Togetherness The Monitors - Save A Little Love Going to stop this now,The oldies played in Mr.M's depended on when you started going to the Casino,And of course,What you classed as an oldie at the time,If you went in 79 - 80 for example, your views on Mr.M's tunes would be different I suppose to someone who stopped going in 76-77, Many thank's to everyone who posted,

The entire show was cut and pasted to fill the BBC running plan, The 2 or 3 records played were what the producers wanted to play,The interview was cut and inserted to the producers choice,The comments on the attendance per week at Wigan Casino were as I pointed out in my earlier post on this subject correct. Fast forward the link below to about 47.00. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00gdy7k/Russ_Winstanley_07_05_2011/

Complete and utter Soul Police Snobbery, 99.9% of this thead, Once again if it was at / or about Wigan / Winstanley,Well then it's shite, Don't see many or any tv features on Stafford or the Mecca,Remember the one with Ady C for Channel 4 a few years back,But that's about it, This once again as turned into another let's slag off Wigan Casino / Russ Winstanley thread, Having read many threads on this site,Concerning the need to introduce new people to "The Scene",Why straight away do you start to call people, The post about Sandy Holts type of hair style says it all, I'm a fat beer bellied bald headed bloke LIKE many of you on here,Show the guy some dueThe BBC asked him to be on "The One Show" not the reverse,Typical comments all the way through this thread as per usual, There are many on here who never went to Wigan Casino /Wheel / Torch etc.etc.,BUT there are loads more who wished that they had, The Media show interest in The Casino because it was THERE at the TIME, The quotes on the attendance figures would have been a slip of the tongue,But consider at the time circa 76-79 that Northern Soul and Wigan Casino were at it's largest,And that the Casino were running mid week nights.Oldies on a Friday,The Saturday all-nighter,And the odd All-Dayer,Plus the normal nights,Well those figures are not far off the mark, Take a rain check people and start having a go at someone or somewhere else, It was a nightclub that served the needs of the people at the time,Not the anti-christ of Northern Soul,And Russ Winstanley was not in any way the SATAN that many people would have him painted to be, There are and were others involveed in This scene we call ours,Who did a lot more and a lot worse!!!!!!!!!!!

I had never heard it til around about 79 - 80 ish, I was Dj-ing a teen night at Rebeccas nightclub in Bury and some young lad gave it me to play,I thought then and still do now that it's an ok tune,It was put out as the flip side of "Interplay" on RCA at the time, The reason for my original question on this thread is that I have been asked to play it on the internet Northern Soul show that I host, I just wanted a little bit more info on it instead of saying "That was by Blah Blah" if you know what I mean Have a listen if you like each and every Sunday 15.00 - 17.00 UK time www.funkysentialradio.co.uk Many thanks to everyone for your help and input on this subject Grant
