  1. Yes, last and by far rarest of the 4 Motown 45 sung in german.
  2. Seconded. Emperors new clothes kind of song, fits in with all that funk crap played these days. Will be gone and forgotten in a few years.
  3. No, the most expensive German Motown 45 is Temptations "Mein Girl" (aka my Girl) @200/250 Agree with you, rarely turns up these days. I guess many copies that were in circulation are now hoovered up and tucked away in Northern Soul collections. Yes, german-only 45.

No, not really. Or as my 3 year old daughter would say: :D:lol:

If the likes of Butch, Soul Sam, Ginger, etc. are reading this, I'm willing to let my copy go for a nice offer/trade (seriously!)
  6. You can pick up the album on the bay for less than $10 if you search a bit.
  7. can upload it once RefoSoul is back and running if anybody's still interested? Bought the album simply out of curiosity about the Two People track and have to say, doesn't sound like an alt take to me. More like one of those 'fake stereo' mixes you can find on many french compilations from the 1960s. I'd be a bit disappointed if it wasn't for the stand out deep soul tracks on side 2
  8. Just played it on RefoSoul, instant winner to me! Sounds like a Carolina beach scene track to me and in parts reminds me of Soul Inc. - My proposal. Wish I had known it earlier when copies were cheap.

Here's the report: When I played it at our local do* last thursday the dancefloor thinned out a bit but most kept on dancing. Still don't think it's a brilliant tune. it's ok but thast's just about it IMHO.:wub: (NB: please ignore all these smilies, my 3 year old daughter wanted me to included them all in my post) * see for complete playlist
  11. My playlist from the last Deeper Shade do at the Atomic Cafe in Munich/Germany. Crowd was well up for it, despite being non-soulies predominantly. Not in playing order, but at least in genre order: Larry Davis - I've been hurt so many times Bessie Watson - Wake up crying The Paramounts - I won't Share your love The Casualeers - Dance, dance, dance Curtis Smith - The living end Jimmy Fraser - Of hopes, dreams, tombstones (voc) The Sandpipers - Lonely too long Timothy Wilson - Love is like an itching Billy Harner - I've got to check you out Eddie Holland - I'm on the outside looking in Anthony Hall - Baby girl of mine The Four Perfections - I'm not strong enough Little David - I want the good life Shirley Edwards - Dream my heart Sound of Soul - Wrapped up tight Marvin L. Sims - Get off my back The Masquaders - That's the same thing Edwin Starr - I just wanted to cry The Phonetics - What good am I Family of Eve - Please be truthful Majik - Back into your heart The Lost Family - Blow my mind Veda - What it's all about 24K Gold - What does the future hold Sammy Gaha - Thank you thank you Solid Gold Revue - She's so good Hiroshima - Never, ever The Kingstonians - Hold down The Ethiopians - Not me The Tennors - Reggae girl Amos Wilburn - Christmas (comes but once a year) Delroy Wilson - Dancing mood Derrick Morgan - Hold you jack The Versatiles - Worries a yard The Kingstonians - Mix it up John Holt - Ali Baba

Will give it a spin at our do this coming thursday and report back. Don't know what I was thinking of when I said the whole songs sounds like Jackie Wilson ca 66/67. Vocally yes, BH sounds a bit like JW if by purpose I don't know but that's just where any similarity ends IMO.

Was wondering, what is the common opinion about it now? Is it really a mispress? Have any other copies surfaced from anywhere else after or prior to the 7/8 copies on Ebay last month? Received my copy two days ago and have to say I still haven't made up my mind whether I like it or not. Intro reminds me of the Pied-Piper stuff on RCA and the whole songs sounds quite like Jackie Wilson ca. 66/67.
  14. For sale: SOLD EDWIN STARR - JUST WANTED TO CRY - GERMAN TAMLA-MOTOWN 45 £85 including 'signed for' post worldwide and Paypal fees The one everybody's looking for. No 45 release anywhere else in the world. Comes with original picture sleeve, VG+ condition, plays really great. Last copy on Soul Source sold for £150! PM please to reserve.
  15. It's not that once you've exceeded the threshold Ebay is going to change your account from private to business seller. But there are different terms for private and business seller. E.g. you can be liable for an item lost in the post as a private seller, even if that term only applies to business sellers.
  16. Don't know if that helps as it's only valid to german Ebay accounts, but if you exceed a certain number of sold items over a certain period of time, Ebay Germany considers you to be a business seller even if you're registered as a private seller. is there anything similar with Ebay UK?
  17. Nice one, picture reminds me of the Playboy centerfold she once did (not that I saw it myself, been told about it *cough*) I know she did a 45 on Epic that fetches quite some money. More in a Popcorn/Mod thing I recall...
  18. Isn't it that as long as it's a one-off and for your own home listening pleasure you're entitled to cut a carver of a track you don't own the rights for? And you're not allowed to sell it on?
  19. Yes, "I won't play Popcorn at a Soul do again" written 100 times on the lid of my DJ box...
  20. I was guilty of making L. Trider and Profiles quite popular here in Southern Germany over a decade ago. Don't know if I'd play them nowadays (probably not). Wish I had been guilty of making any of your top three tunes popular One that left me gobsmacked from the very first time was George Freeman - Down and out. Fantastic production...
  21. Were there any other releases on Party Time apart from Houseparty and Four Perfections? And can somebody confirm that Showstoppers and Four Perfections were one and the same group? Would like to have a Party Time demo of Houseparty to sit next to my Four Perfections demo Anyone?
  22. For sale: Ortheia Barnes - Till You Lose It / Second Time Around - Noteworthy 12" (EX) £15 Extd and edited versions of both songs on each side. Lovely stepper from this Detroit legend. Price includes p&p in Europe! If interested please PM, thanks!
  23. Now sorted. PS: those GEMM prices are very "optimistic"
