  1. Deeper Shade was a 6ts Soul/Mod night that ran every 2nd thursday from 1997 to 2008. Music policy After we called it a day in early 2008 we have some sort of reunion nights once or twice a year. Last thursday we had the first proper reunion for 2010. Here's what I played in alphabetical order. Tried to play nice quality oldies with a few surprised blended in. Especially the 70s bits went down very well to a predominantely 60s/Mod crowd. 60s BERNARD WILLIAMS - IT'S NEEDLESS TO SAY BOBBY HUTTON - COME SEE WHAT'S LEFT THE CASUALEERS - DANCE DANCE DANCE THE CHANTS - BABY I DON'T NEED YOUR LOVE DICKIE WONDER - NOBODY KNOWS THE FIESTAS - THINK SMART THE FOUR PERFECTIONS GENE TOONES - WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT GEORGE FREEMAN - DOWN AND OUT HERBERT HUNTER - I WAS BORN TO LOVE YOU THE INVITATIONS - WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME BABY JAMES BOUNTY - PROVE YOURSELF A LADY LARRY ALLEN - CAN'T WE TALK IT OVER LITTLE GIGI - I VOLUNTEER THE MASTERS - I NEED YOUR LOVE THE PARAMOUNTS - I WONT SHARE YOUR LOVE PATTI & THE EMBLEMS - GONNA LOVE YOU A LONG TIME SANDY WILLIAMS - PUSHING A GOOD THING TOO FAR SHIRLEY EDWARDS - DREAM MY HEART SOUND OF SOUL - WRAPPED UP TIGHT TIMOTHY WILSON - LOVE IS LIKE AN ITCHING WORLD COLUMN - SO IS THE SUN THE YUM YUMS - GONNA BE A BIG THING ANTHONY HALL - BABY GIRL OF MINE DOUG BANKS - AIN'T THAT JUST LIKE A WOMAN JOE PERKINS - RUNAWAY SLAVE JUSTIN JONES - DANCE BY YOURSELF LARRY DAVIS - I'VE BEEN HURT SO MANY TIMES 70s CAVIAR - NEVER STOP LOVING YOU CLOUDBURST - I'M LOVING YOU EDDIE BILLUPS - SHAKE OFF THAT DREAM FAMILY OF EVE - PLEASE BE TRUTHFUL THE INNERSECTGIN - LET ME LOVE YOU LIFE - TELL ME WHY THE LOST FAMILY - BLOW MY MIND MARSHALL, DONOVAN & BROOMFIELD - SINCE I FOUND MY BABY MIND & MATTER - I'M UNDER YOUR SPELL THE PAGES - HEARTACHES AND PAIN PATTERSON TWINS - GONNA FIND A TRUE LOVE THE PERFECTIONS - CAN THIS BE REAL UJIMA - I'M NOT READY VEDA - WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT WILLIAM BOSTIC - WHAT YOU DO TO ME WILLIE J & CO - BOOGIE WITH YOUR BABY Any comments welcome!
  2. I'm sure you'll change your mind if you get stung with paying $$$ for a bootleg because you didn't know better.
  3. how about contacting Ebay and telling them why you refuse to pay for the record? am pretty sure they'll deal with it in your favour: auction will be cancelled/withdrawn/whatever. buyer gets a warning. case closed.

$2.8K Buy it now isn't "quite cheap", is it?
  5. Gary, if I were you I'd try to get the Curtis Smith mis-press. Far cheaper, 15-20 quid should get you y copy, and as a bonus the brill underrated dancer "the living end" on the flipside. Actually "living end" is the better side IMO.
  6. Are you planning to keep the kebab for yourself or do you want to sell (part of) it? I'm sure there's a market for good quality 2nd hand kebab somehwere in this world...
  7. could have been worse. Imagine the fishnets' colour wouldn't have matched the collar.

I'm not into hip hop at all but I remember when that track came out (mid 90s?) it stuck in my mind ever since. Don't have any clue where the sample comes from but they really knew how to use it. agree with you, fantastic track... hasta la vista...

Have to agree, Pete's casts are brill, current faves are Rocksteady summer chill out #1 and the Mixed Juke Box one with Tres Delinquentes in it (vol1?). Have subscribed to them via iTunes so I get them downloaded automatically. Apart from the two podcasts from end of last week, can't download them. Technical reasons? They have inspired me to have a go myself and managed to knock together three different BenjiCasts that are massive sounds on my iPod Any way, Pete, keep on doing them podcasts. Keeps you busy and away from telling us what you think of the Carstairs

  14. It's on Metronome not Metrodome. I have a copy somewhere but can't remember where According to my files it was released in 1971 in Germany, what's the release year for the UK Ember one? For security reasons my office PC won't show me the scans posted in this thread.
  15. Was just wondering, does anyone know where the backing tracks to Candle and What'cha gonna do came from? One was the Dynamics "I need your love" wasn't it? What was the other one? Many many years ago I saw a record on a record list described as "uses the same backing track as Doni Burdick Whatcha gonna do". All I remember is the record in question was from Philly (Phil L.A.??)
  16. Maybe you've heard the other version by the Reflections on Capitol before?
