  2. Sorry, didn't mean to say you were taking the piss. Just meant that a price tag of 500 quid sounded like a piss take...

  5. 500? Pure piss take IMO. 50 more like. Since when did any continental Euro (i.e. non-UK) issues fetch almost 10 times their US equivalent?

  10. Edit. Seen Chalky had already replied..
  11. Well, we see different. But two rather different subjects more like. I tried to explain what I'd define as OVO, i.e. what sort of records should be played at venues. I see your post in the way, that you explain your view on "first legit issues vs. reissues". Anyway, maybe we can get the topic a bit more interesting for everybody else by throwing in some unrelated, unprovoked insults? I'll start with "you disagree with me? "
  12. As Mischief just mentioned UK Grapevine. My posting does not refer to any tracks reissued whenever wherever to satisfy any demand from Soul/Northern Soul collectors or scenes, especially in the UK. These are not OVO. They might be first issues in certain countries but do not fall under the OVO category.
  13. OVO: Any LP or 7" a track legally came out on within a timeframe of say 3-4 years after the track's very first release? Does this make sense?
  14. I stand corrected on both accounts then But, honestly, prices for the album are certainly It has always been around in quantities hasn't it?
  15. To my ears same take, just slowed down a bit. And the Free Angela LP is more towards 30-40 quid IMO.
  16. Are you really sure about the LRC reissue? I think I used to have it at one time but can't recall Bobby Valentin being on it. Very low sound quality wasn't it? "Use it before..." also came out a few years ago as part of the Vampi Soul "Explosivos" 10x7" box. Official legal reissue in superb sound quality. If you're into Latin Soul I recommend the whole set. It's long deleted but turns up here and there...
  17. Babs did a Playboy centrefold back in the late 60s. Can post scan tonight if anybody's interested
  18. Yes, I covered a record as by "Vladimir Semmelhack". Still covered...
  19. I bought the CD the other day, it's a 4" solid centre 45 rpm record. Wish it was vinyl but it's just crappy plastic. I recommend to put the song onto CD and stop playing the disc to prevent it from wear. my copy plays through but there's a tiny little scratch and it jumps after about 8-10 secs into the song. Nice gimmick tho'.
  20. Benji replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Been carrying it around in my DJ box for the best part of the last 15 years but only played it once or twice when it was requested. But wouldn't sell it either even tho I would make a huge profit seeing the current going rate and what I paid for it back in 1994. Anyway, back to the question: I'd rate it @ 200/250 ...
  21. One could say you're talking about a completely different track. TKOB is all but "only a nice soul ballad". Atmospheric big production mid tempo dancer more like. And the remix is way too hectic IMO
  22. For sale: Eddie Kendricks - Date with the rain - German Motown 45 £30 incl. p&p/fees/whatever Very rare german Motown release with the neat looking original picture cover. Vinyl in EX condition, sleeve VG+. Can supply scans if requested. US copies go for 40+ so have yourself a bargain Paypal or cash. Please PM for further details Thanks! Benji
