  1. track listing looks very much like a Rob Marriott tape to me. In the early 90s I had a few tapes sent to me by Rob's brother Chris including many of Rob's then spins. My tapes had stuff like E. Rodney Jones, Masquaders, Entertainers, Fascinators, Young Bros or Van McCoy on it. Can't be coincidence can it?
  2. never seen or heard of a 2nd issue before. picture is infact a bit blurry, label looks kosher to me. but the thickness of the vinyl makes me thinkin it might be a carver. why not contact seller to see why he thinks it's a 2nd issue?

I agree, plus the hardly noticeable fact that the original is on a black label

How about name these DJ's or at least the venue you're talking about?
  5. Ann Robinson "World of Happiness" eventually came out on UK Harthon hence the writing in the run-out. The UK Harthon release was done by Goldmine and IMO, is a bootleg.
  6. The earliest Big Maybelle release on Rojac that I could find was #1003 (1964). Were Rojac and Port related in any way? Just a theory: I guess that Rojac 1006 was indeed the first release and leased to Port for national distribution.

this came out on yellow and blue labels This also came out on #5669 (blue label)
  8. Jo, you have to pay more attention It's about playing tracks that are available on 45 off an album. NOT "album only tracks". But I recall you being snobbish yourself! Remember what you said many many years ago about certain german DJ's playing german cover versions of lousy english pop songs at allnighters?
  9. You're right if the number of copies are not really known, but I thought it's confirmed that the guy found exactly 100 copies? Furthermore not every Ebay Northern soul buyer is on Soul Source so the fact that many copies have turned up may not be known to everybody placing a bid on one of the Four Tracks?
  10. agree with most of you apart the highlighted. in theory, the market price is the result of supply and demand. yet the supply (i.e. number of copies seller really has) is not really clear, therefore I'd say it's not the real market price people are paying, they're paying too much.
  11. Forgot to add to my posting... I got the whole set and I value it at well over a grand. I guess it's impossible to give accurate prices for them, they're far too infrequently for sale are they?
  12. You're right. Anyone thinking it's a good investment or seller's buddy raising the bids?
  13. The whole set well over 1K???
  14. So are you saying you're not charging the actual postage but "enough" to cover postage, i.e. making a profit on postage? Don't really get that, you can proove you posted the discs but Paypal isn't interested in your evidence? Sorry, but can't believe that is the case. If you want to find out how much insurance postage is why not simply check with the PO? They will be more able to tell you the exact postage rates than anyone on here... That's not true if I understood the Ebay messages right. it's max. postage of $4 per item within USA, too many sellers tried to make profit on postage and charged too much.
  15. Willie Mitchell - The Champion on spanish London? Is it a 70s issue like Chubby Checker You just dont know on spanish London? Or proper 60s one? Have W. Mitchell on german London 45 myself. Unfortunately it's not a real deal 60s issue but from the 70s the same time the black label UK London reissue came out..
  16. I'm trying to get a nice VG (or better) original Chess copy of The Valentinos - Sweeter than the day before. This will be a christmas pressie for a friend, but can't afford to shell out loads so I hope that 60/70 quid will get me one??? Here's hoping...
  17. I think I got a copy of Stranger cole - Til my dying days (or something like that) in the sales box. You want that one?
  18. it's "determination" by they fabulous apolllos
  19. I think it's a nice record, good production. I understand it's a test pressing so there must be some run-out details that may help to identify it?
  20. How about Bill Black's Combo - little queenie? A classic from the real past and as it happens I have a copy of the very rare german London release for sale (very reasonable priced) ...
  21. I'm afraid I disagree, had two copies of Harlem Rumble myself and seen it listed every there and then, yet it took me 5 years to get a copy of the Chaumonts and I've only ever seen one other copy anywhere. But anyway, Tough girl or Michigan Move are far better examples for rare instrumentals...
  22. Pretty popular, pretty expensive but not very rare: Harlem Rumble Not as popular, yet cheaper and rarer than Harlem Rumble: Chaumonts - Now you've gone
  23. you're joking, right? Or is there an instrumental of it?
  24. Do you guys think it's pointless to ask for a (very) good quality MP3 of Mello Souls? The one I have is of rather low quality but the only one I got hold of and WCMI is sure one of my alltime favourites...
