Was looking for a copy for some time and observed a few sales, meaning copies that actually sold. My conclusion: demo ~500 issue ~1.000 for ex or better copies. respectively less for copies in worse condition. A vg-/vg issue went for about 500 on Ebay a few months ago.

Betty Semper massive? Not for me. Dull record. Sounds like a desperate "vintage soul" record. True Pages ok though.

I don't know how many alt takes Pete's article covers. But I remember you, Ady, saying many years ago that there might be much more alt version hidden on the Kent LPs that people are aware of. From what I remember you said back then that quite often you picked the master tape that sounded most like the released one whenever you didn't have the original 45/LP at hand for reference.

Thanks for the info! I'm usuallly not a big Stevie Wonder. But this one here is a sure exception. Maybe it's the mix of typical Motown backing with a "non-Motown" melody. Will give it a spin at a local 6t's dance next w/end and see if punters agree. BTW, there's also quite nice blue eyed/Garage version by "The Lime".
-
It was a huge in demander a few years ago. But prices have decreased quite a lot since then. I'd sell it for around 50 quid if it's in nice condition. However copies are hard to be found these days. If you really want it, buy the one on Discogs. Otherwise you may wait a long long time for another one to turn up.

Stevie Wonder "Love a go go" on the dutch "blowin' in the wind"/US "Uptight" LP. What a haunting tune. How I never noticed this one before I don't know. Was it played at allnighters?

I too recall when there were plenty of copies around. I know I paid 10/15 quid for it after I read a review in, I think, Martyn Bradley's Soul Renaissance mag. Plenty of dealers had copies. However don't know how many they had. Stamped credits surely suggest a rather limited number of copies. But what puzzles me is that there is such a demand for this record. Ok, it's nice. But certainly not a huge 3 figures sort of record IMO. Otherwise I would have kept my copy.

The 45 on german Liberty is in rather low soundquality. Or at least not like other Liberty 45s from the same period. I used to pick it up every now and then in the past. But not anymore. It more or less disappeared completely.... If you're not too fussy about the format, the track is featured on a number of albums from all over the world.

sorry if I may repeat anything already said. But I didn't read all the posts in this thread. Easy way to avoid needle burn: 1) use a proper modern DJ needle. they are shaped for cueing backwards and forwards, no matter how fast. Hi-Fi needles are shaped for one-way use. 2) Do not put too much weight on the tone arm. Today's vinyl can handle heavy weight, e.g. scratching etc. But yesterday's vinyl or styrene can't. Rule of thumb: 2,5 on the scale for any record in VG- or better condition. If you're about to play a record in worse condition, e.g. one that might jump or is warped, use 3.5 max. Turn back to 2.5 afterwards. I'v been dj'ing and cueing records 1.000s of times over the last 25 years. Never damaged a record.

I''m not sure it's 2nd. I only looked up one item, Jesse Johnson on Old Town. This was never pressed/reissued before, was it?
