  1. bargain ? I am really not so sure...If it wouldnt have been for one not too smart acting bidder who already had put up the price by over ten single bids to 2700 USD days before the auctions ending only to fully dissappear on the last day I am sure the record wouldn`t have gone up that much. will be interesting to see if that serious price (3K UKP) is enought to tempt other collectors to part with their copy. Marc
  2. so wait till you hear the flipside "I`m Surprised" which is the side I prefer playing out for the first time for a new enthusing moment. LOL Seriously though great post baz
  3. in fact you were right chalky. the RWA 45 is great, but it was the Mars La Tour 45 that gave the "H.S.U."- factor
  4. Must say..I love it when..and it still happens regulary. I am always looking for the "hair stands up" factor...simply love that...unknown tune (to my ears) , heard for the first time, thinking "whats that f***g awesome tune!!" ... last "hair stand up" tunes I remember were acetate played by Dean Anderson last Hip City, listening to John Harris, Dave Thorley`s Ricky Andrews 45 at my place on new years eve night and THE JAN Playing me his latest discovery last winter for the very first time. Marc
  5. what a fabulous r&b tune...now that one brings back memories and a big smile. sorry, sold it long time ago.

blimey...I though Dean Parish (misspelt name on the credits) on WD Musicor was a bargain at 60 USD a few geeks ago...but Leonard Adair on One Way for 650 USD... ....well done and congrats to whoever got it https://cgi.ebay.com/...=item2eb303ed03
  7. cheers mate...indeed two ears..at least today morning before shaving LOL !
  8. If that was indeed the actual question, and on second reading I believe it was, the answer indeed has to be sadly yes. Maybe Joe Jama, Parliaments (Cabell) were among the last titles that could have been classified as such a new discoveries ? But thankfully the taste has widened and these days a bright variety of songs is accepted (by most) which of course led and continues to lead to more "new" titles being around to be picked up on. These new styles already added to the scene in general and also already have created their own sort of classics (Charles Sheffield to name just one obvious). Of course a major aspect and reason for this ever expanding variety of styles (first R&B, Popcornish tuneage, now Funk and Gospel-esque Soul etc) was and is the fact that new discoveries in the vein of traditional Northern Soul Stompers simply were not around anymore to be found. IMO.
  9. Havent checked the soundbite (if there was one) but if the reocrd plays as good as it looked it was a real real bargain IMO.
  10. In all respect,...I am not so sure about that. Sacred Four Cosmos Band Wally Coco John Harris & Soul Sayers Charles Simmons Ricky Andrews (Mars La Tour..) Willie Tee (Bonatemp) are just a handfull from the top of my head...surely not all brand - new, been around and about for five, six or only one year but all are just about to happen right now. Plenty of stuff out there. Especially if you take also into considertaion what Mark Bicknell and Phil have just said...so much cheap and unnoticed stuff still around waiting to be picked up and appreciated on a wider level . Been looking myself for a nice early Soul outing from NYC which has no kudos (so far) at all and finally found it for 9 USD on ebay...a week later the same title appeared with a soundclip and biff bang pow...it went for almost 300 USD.
  11. Yes, Tim played it at his last visit at the Hip City in 2009.
  12. seller usually knows his stuff...so maybe a typo and he wanted to say 2000 UKP / 3200 USD...which would be about a alright if not even a slight "bargain". Dont feel too comfortably using the word bargain at a 2/3 k price tag at all though LOL !
  13. Locations or Sensations ?
  14. Label was "damaged"...but the vinyl was ex plus if I remember correctly. As I am no butterfly collector its mainly the condition of the vinyl I am interested in .
  15. would have thought they are all in the same league value - wise although the Sensations offers more value for the money as it has a splendid flipside...which next to me sadly only Mick H is spinning here and there. Seriously I believe the Locations should be around 1.250 - 1.500 UKP depending on condition. TB just put up a Sensations in immaculate condition..wonder how much that will go for..
  16. As I didn`t get one single offer for my copy I`ll file it back into the collection now and wait what the one on ebay will fetch...
  17. my mate Franz re-activated it at the Hip City a year ago and upon hearing I had to get a copy...bought it for a little less than 30 USD on ebay...
  18. sorry, just noticed you are not on about todays auction
  19. Hi Flynny, you can check all finished items on the site...the days when all results where gone not to be seen anymore once the auction had finished are long gone past. Nowadays you can see them till the next auction wednesday has arrived.
  20. Prince Paul and the Swingin` Imperials. And yes, it has been a favourite at the Hip City too a few years ago. It was also released with a gorgeous picture cover by the way...which is extremely rare (to see/find).
  21. ...a look on the bidding history explains a lot IMO.
