  1. Totally agree, but horses for courses, I'd never heard the Rock version before Adam T graced it's presence on a mix cd - graciously provided and enjoyed in the main.. Not my cup of tea - and if Butch played this out Ted then it was surely a blip in his usually elegant selections.. Regards Greg.
  2. Cheers Keith! If anybody doesn't know this tune it's a cracker - so have a listen on refo and give Keith a shout and grab a copy. ATB Greg.

There was a copy on offer from Okehdokeh as well not too long ago.. Best, Greg.
  4. If poster is sorted, then would be happy to hear from any folk who have a minty copy of the same for sale. Ta very much, Greg.
  5. Hi, If any of you kind people could take the time to provide me with the deadwax info on this tune it will be appreciated. Thanks, Greg.
  6. Hi Paul You have a PM. Cheers, Greg.
  7. Seb That's what I mean when I say I take my hat off to you! You must be doing something right to get that kind of customer.. I absolutely love the tune so will be very happy to see it getting some deserved attention.. ATB Greg.
  8. You're right there gentlemen, absolute stormer of a tune and a current favourite of mine at least.. Relentless dancer with a storming vocal that deserves attention. But it should be yours Ollie for £25 - £30 if you stick up a want.. Freddie Scott has done some great stuff that can still be had, usually, for a good price - ''Am I Groovin' You'' is another to check out. So some demand is more than reasonable for a tune like this but the price achieved in this case is down to one thing - Seb has done it again and hats off to him ATB Greg.
  9. I thought twice about posting this in case it gets the wrong interpretation.. But I thought no, this is a genuine enquiry so I'll ask anyway... The question is; has something occured to drive up the Price of Freddie Scott - I'll Be Gone on Shout. The latest ebay sale achieved £140.. The reluctance to ask is because it was a sale by a good fellow member who sold it, who has an outstanding record in getting top dollar for a tune (I would even recommend him for an Entreprenuer of The Year award ;-) So is it another winner for the seller or does my spare copy have a cat in the proverbials chance of reaching anywhere near that amount? Over to you for your opinion..
  10. Depends on the tune - some almost always have dh But - I prefer a record without a dh where ever possible. I wouldn't necessarily not buy a tune with a dh or down grade a record I was selling. But again, imho, a seller should always list any deviations from mint inc dh's Regards Greg.
  11. I would have thought Voodoo R&B refers to records made or influenced by New Orleans or Mississipi Delta tunage.. And that perhaps the term R&B is meant to refer to early R&B, Soul & Funk from this perspective.. If not I wouldn't know what the frig else it might mean - surely not simply naming tunes with Voodoo or related terms for a title or artist.. Over to the original poster..

The Sir Guy tune is getting interest for the more funky flip 'Funky Virginia'.. It was a £25 -£30 tune but it's been selling regularly at over £100 lately. So somewhere in between these two would be a sensible set sale price.. Edit: Currently a copy on Ebay BIN at £50 Regards Greg.
  13. Bassline.. The bass all the way through but especially the break at 1m 30s in the awsome Mitty Collier's take on "Git Out" MITTY COLLIE - GIT OUT - And nearly forgot this one; Frank Beverly & The Butlers - Love ATB Greg.
  14. A really nice tune that 'could' crossover in some Northern rooms.. ATB Greg.

To be fair, it looks like this one has dried up from the usual source.. So doubt many will be appearing for sale in the short term.. £1k+ record in the past so £200 seems reasonable. ATB Greg.
  16. As noted the guts of a viable system is there already with the Wants/Available feature on Refo now. To make it more effective for sellers and buyers, could a search feature be pinned to both the Sales and Wants sections i.e. artist, title, label seach which then brings back data already held in Refo. The format of the form returned could be different to Refo so as to be more sales/buying oriented with all those records available from whom and those records wanted by whom displayed with an option to view further info and the option to play a sound file (doesn't have to be the one for sale to prevent replication as grading / feedback can take care of quality control) so people can use it to discover new sounds and then purchase if available. Just a first thought and would make use of what is already there. Regards Greg.

  18. Yep, unfortunately this one got me thinking too much with so many boots on Ebay UK. Didn't think it had ever been booted even more convinced now - feck! Cheers..
  19. Right, I've spent some time on Popsike looking at previous sales and.. I'm still not completely sure, but it looks like I may well have missed out on a bargain. Bo**ocks! In all probability, the camera has lied again and the difference I alluded to in my last post, is merely a case of light and shadow. If this is the case, it's not the first time that a colour difference or other camera created difference put buyers off. As I said, if anyone knows better let me know, otherwise I'll chalk this one down to experience. Many Thanks, Greg.
  20. Not suggesting anybody's stiffing anyone as I'm unaware of a boot and believe the seller was convinced of the authenticity - but this copy is visually different to any other I've seen personally and I was only saying the description was a little ambiguous, although the point about distortion for the first few turns is correct for all the copies I've heard, so I'm even more keen to find out if this has been seen before by any of our learned members. But, as I said, the main point was I wasn't aware of a boot so I'm looking for anyone who has seen this before. The one that sold in the link above has a centre that tapers in half way toward the centre on the label (see pic 1) - this is not the case with ones I've seen before (see pic 2). I was going to bid but because I wasn't 100% didn't do so in the end. There were no where near the amount of bidders/watchers for this copy as for others I've seen on Ebay and it didn't reach anywhere near the usual going rate. So, the question remains, did I miss out on a bargain or has a boot ever been produced? Pic 1 Pic 2 Thanks, Greg.
  21. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether / when this tune was booted.. My feeling was this ebay sale of TSU Toronados on Rampart Street https://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT looked like a boot, even though I wasn't aware it had been booted, I decided not to bid on that basis. The seller describes it as "In Demand Soul!! Mint Condition US 45 although all the copies have a very slight intererence for about the first 10 seconds which is bearly audible." Another worry in the description was the 'all copies' comment. Now I know that the Rampart Street original pressing has some inherent noise, but was this clever wording to identify a 'copy' i.e. boot or was the seller merely pointing out the pressing fault that I'm aware of? So was my intuition right or have I missed a bargain? Cheers, Greg.
  22. Hi Seb, Whoever picks up this won't spend a better £20! ATB Greg.
  23. Hi Dave, The Brooks O'Dell is a good price mate. For anybody unfamiliar, just a great double sider! Best Greg.
  24. Is this a different mix than the King release or was Sam playing the tune on King? Cheers..

Not surprised Pat! Well priced at 50 squid. Great record and an all-time favourite. The Lovemasters would be my next pick as my learned friend Soulbarner has pointed out. ATB Greg.
