  1. It's a very worrying move from Ebay. They maintain this is for the benefit of the buyer.. However, the reality is the only winner, again, is Ebay as people pass on their postage to the item price they get higher listing/finish fees! Ebay are becoming a dangerous, almost monopoly, marketplace. You could, as Kev says, put packaging as an added extra but I don't think that would last 2 minutes as the bidder will complain and Ebay will insist, as they now do, it is the sellers responsibility to ensure safe arrival. I really hope a viable alternative appears in the online auction market. Regards..

  3. You're right Kev. I've just posted in 'All About Soul' regarding relisting where the only option seems to be free postage. Have a read and look at the screen dump for more frustration!! Regards..
  4. Too true. Problem is we are all too busy looking for the next buy! Regards..
  5. Nice record that, as you say, that doesn't turn up too often. I got mine of Pat B or Adey Pierce in the mid 80's for about a tenner. I would say if a nice clean copy came up it could make up to £50. Regards...
  6. Hello Peolpe, Just been on to relist a couple of bits on Ebay which is usually a very quick process. However, this time I got a new screen that only allows me to relist if I list at £0.00 p&p! This is just blackmail and another example how a seller, even an occasional one as in my case, are being stiffed. I don't know what you think but this is just a piss take to me. I'd try and cancel them and then make a new listing to see if I can get round it but they will charge me another listing fee! This is bad enough for me, with only a few items, but for anybody trying to make an income on Ebay listing numerous items this must be a total bastard. The Bay is trully becoming the EvilBay. Robbing shites Let me know if you've had the same experience. Thanks...
  7. That's what I mean soulman. I paid about $15 for my Topics and $12 for the Enhanted 5. Seems something's in the air with this one if it's selling at $76 and had 16 bidders. Maybe a buy now ?? Or Maybe not Cheers..
  8. Thanks Boba, That clears up any confusion regarding the cut and the band. Anybody know if this is one to watch given the recent blip in demand? Cheers...
  9. Cheers Nick Thanks for the info. Don't you just love this music! It doesn't make it alot clearer but it's made it more interesting . Regards..
  10. Hi Noticed a little bit of interest in the Topics - Try A Little Love - Heavy Duty. The Topics last ebay outing with this went to $76 with 16 bidders, the only copy on Ebay is at £92 (!) and there's a couple available on GEMM for a more reasonable £25. Not earth shattering I know, but just an interested anorak So 2 questions for you people in the know: 1. Is this the same cut/band as the Enchanted 5 - Try A Little Love - CVS? 2. Is the Topics track picking up any interest anywhere you know of? Thanks in advance...
  11. The flip on the Canyon and Maple releases is also a good track and they tend to turn up in good condition and as mentioned a very clear mastering of the 'playboy'. It depends whether you want the first release on Lee John that bad. Matter of each to their own.. Regards..
  12. There's a couple dealers with a copy at the moment. Off the top of my head, I know there was a copy on soulfulkindabiscuits Regards..
  13. Today mine is: Rising Sun - Good Loving - Kingston Just got to wait for the money to come through from the kidney I sold Rising sun - Good loving -
  14. Not surprised gentlemen. Real nice tune that seems to have gone pretty much unnoticed. Play it and play it loud! Best...
  15. Note to self - spell the artist right to find refo clip For anybody else who doesn't know this flip.. Harry Starr - Step Into My World - Very nice double sider Keith. Regards..
  16. Absolute winner of a Casino classic. I've never heard the flip though :-( Any chance of a refo clip anybody - please Regards..
  17. Afternoon People, Took delivery of a 'Little Archie - All I Have To Do - Dial' the other week and really like it. But today, I decided to give the flip a play 'You Can't Tie Me Down' and I'm in love - no I'm in lust! What a really nice surprise when you get a disc and then find an unexpected gem on the flip.. Would be interested in your opinion of this flipside as I wasn't aware if it was considered a double sider by anyone. Thanks..
  18. Thing is Benji, it was a UK only listing i.e. the only option is the UK postage. If a buyer from Europe comes on to Ebay UK and sees the Ebay 'Contact Seller For Postage Rate' message then that's what the stupid twat should do. This guy has obviously decided to use this approach as a scam with negative feedback as a threat to any seller that won't play ball. Problem is that the seller is always getting the shitty end of the stick even when everything is listed coreectly and the process followed to the letter. Like I say, put it down to experience. Regards...
  19. I think it was about £15 + £3.70 Signed For = £18.70 The guy wanted to pay £3.75 i.e. the UK post for a vinyl LP well packaged.. Don't tell me you wouldn't pay either Regards...
  20. Portugal... An Ebay bidder from Portugal bid on 13 LP items of mine (very heavy package obviously) and when invoiced refused to pay the postage cost. He refused to cancel his order as an option and also refused my offer to contibute something towards postage at my own cost as a good will gesture. I advise in the listings not to pay until the invoice is sent so the correct postage is paid but he paid immediately. This guy refused to pay unless I gave him UK postage rates! I went through the Ebay Resolution process but the bidder refused to compromise or pay. I stopped the transaction and relisted - still unpaid. The guy then left 13 negative feedbacks! I then spoke to the Ebay Support and there answer was tuff shit or to quote them "When a listing ends successfully on eBay, the buyer and the seller will be able to leave feedback for each other even if the transaction is not completed." What a bag of shite but there you go - shit happens - best put it down to experience. I mainly buy on Ebay (80/20) but I do think that Ebay has gone too far in making selling a pain for the seller with no redress against disreputable and dishonest buyers. Regards..
  21. Definitely Patti And The Lovelites for me and always has been. Great record as far as the price/quality ratio goes! Regards...
  22. The simple answer to this is that as a buyer I've had quite a few records that have been liberally graded to say the least! I will only send as personal/gift if I know the dealer from before or by recommendation. For everybody else, if the record is the right price for me to buy, then I'd rather pay the paypal fee for peace of mind and protection. I agree with Mace that before paypal it was a right ball ache for buyer and seller and I also agree with Pete S that it is fair to charge paypal fees IF the price of the record and its condition is right. The key problem, as noted originally in the thread, is greedy twats charging full "book" price for everything regardless of reality and then asking for paypal at 4% on top! They don't and won't get my business. So you pay your money and make your choice. Choose sellers wisely, and alert the community of any real nightmares so we can avoid rip off merchants. Regards...
  23. Hobby - 9.3% Passion - 58.14% Addiction - 32.56% Well, firstly thanks to everybody who took the time cast a vote. It's always interesting to gauge the feelings of others. If nothing else this poll confirms that to the vast majority of us this music and lifestyle is not simply a hobby. We don't collect and hear records like others collect and view stamps, we do it it with a powerful passion that we have inside ourselves and share with our fellow followers. For a healthy majority, passion for our music is what drives them but for some the passion boils over into an addiction - a soul compulsion. Given the emotional and physical effects this music has on me I can see how the passion becomes an addiction. I must admit, that I alternate between passion and addiction until reality hits home - money, work, family - and I have to get back on the waggon to soul sobriety! Keep the passion flowing! Regards..
  24. Yep, that's the best way to own this record with that advertising sleeve, used to promote a shoe company, and with the very stylish 'toto' multi-coloured label. Very pretty! Regards..
  25. Im not sure mate but they don't turn up as often. I think this label was distributed less widely than the coloured issue. For me, I like the coloured issue, just for aesthetic reasons, but I'd guess this is the more rare. I'm sure somebody else will have a bit more info/insight but for £65 it doesn't seem too bad. Regards..
