  1. Indeed he did - See post number 275 on this link (and a couple of Romona Collins comments after) Not an acquired taste at all, and dead easy to dance to (in my 'humble' opinion of course) Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Kitch, Butch, and others have had the record for many years - It's a cracker! All the best, Len P.s - In 'again' on a Sat night.....looking forward to Life-line....
  2. That's got me thinking Terry, maybe I should write a Children's Northern Soul Book 'to attract more youngsters to the Scene'...........mmmmmm........... ........'Farmer Suitacle Goes To Wigan' I do wish more was covered about the 90's Scene, that was a really healthy time. Mark Gibbs started one, but it's on the back burner at present. All the best, Len
  3. I'm sure Glen Bellamy was doing this sort of thing years ago (Somehow) All the best, Len
  4. Ady Croasdell never has (probably too busy) I recon he will one day. Stories from people like our Kimbo, entwined with record digging stories would be a great read (as stated above) and yes, up to present day - not only about the 70's. All the best, Len

Hi Mike, I know you've 'been in touch' with me a few times for this (and no doubt many others) .....It's a fine line though, I presume it's ok as long as doing so is interesting / entertaining, and doesn't go off topic for too long - Is that right? All the best, Len
  6. Not my generation (and I hate to say it) but it's healthy - let em rip up that rule book, and do it their way I used to think prices of certain records would fall dramatically as soon as something was pressed, but surprisingly it made no difference to value (if that's what is meant by ruining a collection because of this practise) The bit that is ruined of course, is the exclusivity. All the best, Len
  7. and it ain't the bloke who sells em's fault if they do. Although I understand the point that if they weren't available they wouldn't have the choice - sadly, this argument gets more irrelevant as time goes on I'm afraid. All the best, Len
  8. Yes, fully understand, and that's the way I would be normally.....but for some reason it's the other way round for me on this - can't really explain why, it just is .........It's just me on this isn't it? All the best, Len
  9. See above post......Give it a go........imagine you were really 'dancing hard' to it at a nighter........(Let me know if you change your mind) ......I'm still convinced - I don't normally go for instrumentals, but for some reason, this one really 'jumped out' at me. All the best, Len
  10. .....Sometimes I worry about myself! I'm now convinced I must have got so wrecked one night, that I had my record box the wrong way round (It has been said) .....But - play the whole record, I'm sure there's a lot more 'going on' than in the vocal........um, imagine you were wearing my ears........ Len
  11. I always play 'Jesse Fisher - Waiting' (The instrumental to 'Your Not Loving a Beginner') I like both, but I definitely prefer the instrumental. All the best, Len https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxWdI0DKK04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQofoYKczc8

...There's me thinking you lot are out 'Disco Dancing' every weekend! I watched Simon Pegg's 'The World's End' (I thought it was rubbish)......oh how times have changed - More on 'what we watched' next week folks See you at Life-line mate (very more than likely) Len

.....Unfortunately it has the adverse effect - 'The Pendulum' is always in time with another record! Len

    Confusingly - Yes! Len
  15. 'Bobby Valentin - Use It Before You Lose It' Great track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2Gf4x4qXM4
  16. He don't much, but we did manage to 'prize' him out a couple of months ago to D.J in 'The Den' - He did a great job, one of my all time fave D.J's........I may ask him to do the same night as Mark Bicknell, and do a 'spirit of' kinda thing. Thanks again for posting these clips - You may have just inspired a whole load of '80's returnees' All the best, Len

Oh go on - take the credit! Good point ref 'Comedy names', I think most (if not all) use these 'names' as descriptive only, and yes some descriptions may have a funny side, but no malice intended.......'Our' Terry once decribed mine as......"that silly Mid-tempo dance"......Owch! - But ya gotta laugh ain't ya? All the best, Len

.......Have you tried the flip? .....Nor me...... Len
  19. Indeed. The brightest stars shine then are gone - they don't just fade away.......I don't care what the 80's returnees wear - they were cool as far as I'm concerned, and still influence me. Len
  20. Abso'f*ckin'lutely - Look at your friend Baz on the video I mentioned - I've now played that clip 4 times!......I know what he would have said about eBay....... Len
  21. I warm to these types, I really do. Len
  22. ....You ain't missed much......but I recon this is the start of a new era - the 70's returnees are now 'settled or gone'......and now 10 years later, it's time for the 80's returnees to hit it - HARD!.....There was this guy at the last 'Len's Den', ain't been out since his Stafford days - Danced all night in there, and absolutely loved it! Right, that's a date mate - Bring whatever records you have...but most of all bring that ethos you and the guys had through the 80's Over to you Jem - Book Mark up for the event after Bob Hinsley and Robbo - Mark, you'll be in the Main Room, as well as 'Len's Den'....and you will smile! Be in touch Len
  23. Sorry to hear he's gone. He comes across as one of the great characters that made our Scene - Can you tell us anymore about him - Did he D.J regular? All the best, Len
  24. Hi Jon, Brilliant footage mate Len
  25. No we do not! 'Son' ......We don't need to, and nor do others 'of the same mind' .....btw our event ('Soul in the Bowl') is going pretty well, and I'm gonna 'put that wrong right' and get you DJing at it (if it kills me!).....even if I have to send a f*ckin' chauffer! (over 250 at thisun, and they respond to good soul music!) Great to see the footage of Sue Buck. All the best mate, Len
