  1. Wow, been playing elements of love, at FTMNTC, paid a just over £100 last year on discogs.
  2. I like it, and in the right room, sound system ect can see it working for dancers.
  3. Thanks to all involved, it's brought intrigue, laughter and frustration at times, long may it reign.

Over the moon to play at this venue again. Always a challenge; be bold, be daring but don't play anything crap. 🫣😂

This night has really built over the past 12 months. If you say you're looking for something truly different, rather that the same old rich guys playing their nob wavers, this is actually it!
  6. Er yeah, exactly that.
  7. I'm not saying it's not a good song but it's so light it could blow away, I can imagine 5th dimension doing a version or Patti Boulaye, in some ways it's more poppy than BO. but we are comparing pop and soul from different years, must be ten years between the two songs.
  8. He's spot on it's just as poppy as BO
  9. Larry sheman- trax records, Chicago was infamous for his dubiously pressed records using my recycled vinyl. https://mixmag.net/feature/trax-records-chicago-house-originators-payment-larry-sherman

Recycling tends to degrade vinyl and records pressed on it are considered inferior. You often s e virgin vinyl as a selling tool on new pressing..
  12. Bring it on!
  13. Virtually everything Craig Charles plays is an edit, non new releases anyway. I've often wonder who gets paid, the editor or the artist?
  14. Hopefully by non soul folk but sad non the less
  15. Only had this experience once, in stockport, but generally I'm not on my own and either me or my mate know someone. But there are plenty of places I could get that vibe, if I didn't know anyone. I eluded to this in the thread, on the people over hyping, intergalactic soul festival year 2030! then it's them and their mates again. 😂

I know it from oldskool BMX sites, where it's over used to the point of ridiculous. Not heard it used in records context much. If you think record prices are silly, you better check out that kids bike in you shed it could be a ' survivor' they pay very well for rust! 😂
  17. Sounds like a great night!

£40 was the lowest I saw it go.
  19. Both cuts renowned as underground disco classics, real anthems from the paradise garage, loft, warehouse and power plant.
  20. If that is the case, then why not be honest with the punters, I'd appreciate it. I suppose it's the very anathema to the way promotion is done, and not realistic.
  21. It's a fair point, I'd not really seen it from that perspective, but given venues circumstances I'd have thought they weren't In a position to ask for such indulgences from promotors.
  22. Never considered this, might be the reason some promote in this way, but I doubt it.
  23. In the full time professional business of northern soul? Or is it the northern soul industry now?
  24. Couple of annual events, I was interested in going to, recently started to promote next year's event, straight after this year's had finished. I've seen this as a growing trend. Tbh, it's put me off; early bird ticket systems, no cash, accepted, sold out months in advance, same cliques, same faces, exclusivity and the loss of the spontaneous night out. A promotors dream but as a punter I'm just not into it. Your thoughts appreciated. Don't need to be specific and use it as an opportunity to grind an axe, it's a general trend for sure!
  25. Great article that, was aware of half, the rest are all very early pre 64 and not of a great deal of musical interest beyond Detroit collectors I guess. The myna birds got a reissue on a CD some years back of interest as a real musical curio and 'what if' piece.
