Sorry guys, though that the mix of carstairs on the flip, of the boot of willie kendricks, was different to the released mix, listened to it again last night and not so sure now, lol.
  2. tony Blackburn always seems to get stick and was for a long time the butt of many light entertainment jokes, so peel wasn't alone.

soz if done before, am I right in remembering the mix on the flip of Willie Kendricks - change your ways, is different to the issued mix, if so where's it originate from?
  5. ace oldie, has bags of character and originality.
  6. Obviously not, but the treatment the BBC have recently given to black music is piss poor. I have really bee so disappointed with the Beeb, it seems like all the decent music Tvee is now on sky. hopefully this should do something to redress the balance.
  7. is this BBC?, if so I'm expecting the usual derivative shite that airbrushes history, to enhance the narrative. No celebrity presenter?? wtf? thought that was illegal nowadays? For Christ sake the public demand a drivelling imbelcile that knows sweet FA about the subject but has been to performing / journo school!
  8. cant believe how young Mike P looks on this.
  9. I'll quote the mighty mace in response to this; "loads of them want to hear something different, as long as they're playing it".
  10. I did mean since this revival thing started, say the last 5 years.
  11. Well top post.
  12. suprised harfvey averne is still getting that kind of money
  13. there is I'm pleased to say, an albeit fledgling, resistance movement, a scene within a scene. A small but loyal crowd that still travel to hear something fresh, something different.; Burnley, rugby, soul function, go go children, spirit, empty bottles, different strokes and many others offer an alternative. I always live in hope for the true ethics of the scene, after all U2 and REM were once considered alternative music, and went onto become 2 of the biggest bands in rock history.
  14. don't think there's been any djs under 30 that have broken into the mainstream and have introduced new tunes that have been taken up at multiple venues. Now THAT is what the scene really needs!
  15. ns itself rose from the ashes of mod, wonder how many were saying mod is f...... In 67, when hippies hit.
  16. Being under 30 seems to have worked for quite a few in recent years, not going to name the obvious name but a certain capitol venue has always seemed to want somebody to appeal to the younger market. Nothing wrong in that of course, but I have seen some resentment on FB from guys who been paying their dues for a little while longer.
  17. is there any evidence that this is happening generally with rock and roll?
  18. if I remember correctly it was issued a few times before it became a pop hit, although it was big in dance clubs well before that. best original song they ever did, (there cover of someday was the best) hard to imagine now everyone got so pissed of with hearing heather's voice by the end of the 9ts.
  19. haven't a clue, but its really unusual and I really like it. Sounds like indie release and it's surely called October. Be great to find out who it's by Q
  20. bout as black as the antartic, a certified piece of shite if I ever heard one, yeah its white garage but that's not the problem its just poppy and twee and has that certain something that will appeal to BTB's (baggy trousered bastards) which means it wont appeal to me or anyone with an once of soulful taste or interest in black music, just imho.
  21. Dont recall Jazzy B saying we were racist, just mainly white, I believe it was more to do with the scene being made up largely of suburbanites. There was 2 black kids in my town when I was growing up,
  22. its just so fooking tasteless, couldn't watch it all, they look like the freeking goodies, but like more of them, f'christ sake we go on about the soul scene scraping the barrel, this is the fashion industry really scraping the barrel.
  23. 80's 100 club 90's Hacienda 00's Ritz- Current- Soul function Warsall
  24. don't I recall shades of soul doing an article on the suspected pressing of this??
  25. put this one down to Carl heard personally, he certainly popularised it anyway.
