Unusual Favourite Singers
Hoagy Lands is fast becoming my favourite Ady , known by me for years only for " The next in line " since he appeared at Cleethorpes I've been collecting his sides , everything he recorded to my ears is superb so far , think he cut about 17 ' 45's - got about 10 so far .Interesting subject ,and Lou Johnson is a great choice as well .Best ,Eddie

Steve Glover certainly was the man , back in the day , ran Soul Galore in Oasis market B'ham , he would take wants lists ,when you next turned up , there would be a brown bag with your wants in !! Awesome UK collection and loads of imports - he's still got them as well , so I'm told .Graham Warr records was downstairs in the same indoor market , great for all the [ then ] new releases etc , remember buying Ruby Andrews " I got a bone to pick with you on import ABC ,and Jean Carne " If you wanna go back " when they were hot , great days .Reddingtons records also made a few mistakes in the pricing , got Rick Sheppard " Can we share it " Columbia issue for £1 when it was still covered by Richard at The Casino as " Ronnie Love " .Best ,Eddie

Another great story Max , it makes you wonder where all those Edwin Starr's are now , as it's considered to be one of the harder Ric Tic's , some of the prices must amaze you now ? I remember when The Vonettes were everywhere for £2 , had to pay £60 to get it back a couple of years back - great eh ? !! Best ,Eddie

Wigan Casino
Thats a great photo , the casino used to look so different when it was empty ,The only way I got in free ,was stood chatting with Alan Rhodes at the bar [ think Tabs was with me as well ] after the early session , people started coming in for the nighter and no one asked us to pay.I think some people used to get in free by sweeping up etc . after the early session .Best ,Eddie

The Delfonics "you'll Get Enough" - Another Under-rated Gem?
Hello Ian ,I first heard the Delfonics via a Kent CD of unissued and obscure sides ." Agent for love " has an interesting story , being the vocal of course to Guys from Uncle " The Spy " .In the 70's fanzine editor Dave McCadden [RIP ] ,wrote a made up story asking if anyone had a copy of the vocal to The Spy , titled " Agent for love " .It of course didn't exist , though years later people were claiming to have heard it at Cleethorpes !! The folks at Joe Boy decided to make this in the 90's , recorded in B'ham I think .You probably know this story anyway ,the strange world of Northern Soul eh ? Best ,Eddie
