  1. Chris did do one for a while, but was forever chasing outstanding debts for adverts, and on a monthly print run it can soon add up to a silly amount of money. Its a great idea in concept, as advertising cost was very reasonable (£25 for a quarter page of a 10k full colour print run if I remember correctly?) and if all promoters involved distributed their share of print run in their own area it could achieve effective nationwide advertising.
  2. There was loads of these on ebay a few years back from a seller called Mayeluquet along with shed loads of other New Orleans stuff which she bought out in mass stock from a warehouse /shop, so I assumed it was a New Orleans label

If you include the early days of the Twisted Wheel I should imagine loads. Would think Eyes of Blue 'Heart trouble' (version of Parliaments) and Spencer Davis 'Trampoline' have probably had a few spins on Northern scene.
  4. Hi Keith - sorry to hear this mate. Seems as though selling at the majority of venues is hard work at moment - free sales CDs with partial tracks sent out to your customer base may help (if you don't already do it) You can buy, burn & post out 100 CDs 2nd class for about £40 (and get about 80 x 1 min tracks on each CD) If your invited offers don't bring in enough revenue then advertise a whole stock half price sale - only running until you sell enough stock to sort your finances for a month then it goes back to normal prices...might keep you going a while longer and may increase interest in your site, possibly creating increased future sales.. Whatever happens, I hope it works out for you. Regards Mace
  5. If you don't like it, how come you have it as your avatar now Phil Or does the label 'do it for you'..
  6. Would say £150 for Turley Richards is about right
  7. Funnily enough I was talking about the other version to Mik Parry and Joe Dutton at last Middleton. I also can't remember artist name/title or label to save me life, but sure label looks very similar to 'Merging' label.....help some-one...
  8. Pete, just because you come over as a 'Mellow Fellow' you must not let her take you for a 'Pushover'. 'Do I make myself clear'....????
  9. Great tune - covered up by Roger Banks many moons ago as 'Play in your own backyard' or 'Your own backyard'? Some-one will probably correct me now....... Got mine off Des Parker about 12 months ago....will probably spin it at Bidds Allnighter this Saturday (plug, plug, blatant plug ) Is it R&B...is it Northern???? Who give a f*ck...its the dogs doodarrs

I co-promoted Bidds with Dave Evison at that time, I also used to run Alsager with him and Gary Taylor. Dave decided he'd had enough with Bidds, so I carried it on, and pushed the policy towards the rarer stuff. It is indeed a great venue, ideal for the allnighter scene Hope you can come visit again sometime
  11. Freddie North - Oh Lord, what are you doing... Abet 45 Just gone through an old box of 45s and found this. A credible version of the Big Maybelle tune on Scepter. Any info - is it known, value etc... Cheers Mace

I'm sure I had a (drunken) conversation with John Kelly (the Scouse-Manc) about this tune once upon a p*ss-up, and he reckoned Amanda Love was another artist who was vocally very similar (in his opinion)....but I can't remember who he said (or even if conversation actually took place...hic ) I will ask him next time I speak to him, and if I remain sober during the conversation I will endeavour to let you know...
  13. Please send me same list, sound clip, and idea of price you are after Regards Mace
  14. that's beside the point...
  15. I once won a copy of The Drapers off ebay. The description stated 'recording in mint condition' When it arrived it looked VG at best, though played perfectly well. I questioned the sellers description, to which he informed me that he had stated the 'recording' not the record was in mint condition and he had recorded both sides on the 45 just in case of any such comebacks! I informed him he was a devious sneaky tw*t  B*st*rd!
