  2. I personally dont prefer it over anything else particularly, i enjoy most things played at the better venues - enjoy a healthy mix of everything, including some of the funkier things to be honest all mixed in with some classy oldies, of which IMHO the Hy - Tones is, when ever I hear it, it always sounds fresh as it has never been thrashed to death like some things we could mention. Each to thier own, its just personal opinion really - not a case of he/she who shoots loudest is right . (That comment wasnt aimed at you BTW Dave, just a generalisation). Best Russ

  5. I love the Magnetics too lol........I was going to comment on ya gimp mask needing a zip for ya ear 'oles, but didnt want to be so rude...... Best Russ
  6. I think Pikey has been scraping brown stuff from your ass crack mate.......I generally enjoy your taste in the soul n funk stakes David, however in this particular instance you are spouting ectoplasm ..........maybe you had to be there . Hope you are well my friend Best Russ
  7. Its an absolute stunner, stone cold, drop dead gorgeousness of a record & you lot need your ears syringed, I expect it from Pete, I'm suprised at Mr Abbott though......... Russ
  8. If your selling let me know, if we can do a deal I'll paypal you as a gift today . Best Russ
  9. Thought the thread was about 'forgotten' oldies, from what I can see 99% of the records mentioned are well known classics ???.......I would love for someone to list some genuinely forgotten sounds from any era........ As a slight aside, the 100 Club must be the only Allnighter generating its own oldies & has been for many years........ Russ
  10. If I arrived at a venue & saw someone in a car park getting out of that motor, with that jacket on, carrying a box looking like they might be a DJ for the night, I dont give a f*ck how far I'd travelled I would turn round & go home straight away no messin',.....I bet I could name 99% of the records in the box too ........ OMG. Russ
  11. I want one of those record players Paul.....do you or anyone know what make & model it is & where I might get one pse. Hope you are well mate, say hey to Jay x Russ
  12. Gloria & the Tiaras is immense - both sides brilliant. Liberty is brill too - first played at Cleggy ? Keep em comin Pete Russ
  13. Think this was a Stafford spin for Pat Brady Dave, twas on Wicked I think. Best Russ
  14. With the exception of some of the things Pete & Deejay mention, none of the things mentioned thus far are really forgotten in the true sense - a proper forgotten oldie is something that when you hear it, its the first time in decades & it almost takes on the mantle of a newie again, I'm thinking of the likes of recentish reactivations like Lee Fields & Sandy Hadley, I had never heard Sandy Hadley before to be honest......but I know it was played. I would like to hear about things competely buried for years, that we all have literally forgotten. Not Wigan but what about these: Eddie Holland - Daydreamer Roy C - Gone, Gone, Gone Del Larks - Out of the In Crowd Backstreet - Detroit Rythmn Section Modern forgotten oldies anyone ? Sammy Lee is a stunner BTW Pete....... Good thread Russ
  15. Pete you constantly make my day with your hilarious comments, I mean that as a genuine compliment, as soon as I saw the thread I knew where it was going with regard to your self, but I couldnt help myself - sorry .................I respect your opinion BTW, but I'm deffo misunderstood, soul snob, I think not, I like plenty of proper blue eyed soul, particularly from the Carolinas, however, like your self I can be quite opinionated & speak my mind, therefore we aint gonna change our mind just cos you dont like it . keep it up mate Russ
  16. ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzzzzzzzzzzzZZzZzZzZzZzzzzzzzzzzzZzZzZzZ............ An iconic legend of a record by an iconic group.....& Pete has confirmed just how great it is with his disapproval...... Best Russ

Bloody hell thats rather nice........I'll take one of those thx . Best Russ
  18. More people are collecting internationaly, it'll continue as it has done.......cheaper records will be played/discovered which cos of demand will rise in price & the cycle continues in the same way as always........now record ealers making a living from selling records is a different thing altogether..... Russ
  19. If this is true & I doubt it (probably used as an excuse to sell).....they'll be looking right twats in 10 years & wishing they'd hung on to em......my problem with this is, why are people buying records to make a profit.....once I get em, to me personally they have no financial value at all, only artistic & I cant understand building a collection to sell it for profit & that being the only criteria......there have been many who have sold up for profit & then regretted it later..........having said all of this I do appreciate people fall on hard times & need to sell sometimes through circumsatnces. Russ
  20. He's on f*ckin' drugs the liar.....no way in a million years can RW say that & believe it, he's trying to white wash the Casino & make it palatable to the ordinary classes that know no better so he can come across as respectable & continue to make as much money from the scene as possible, in fact I would go as far as to say, if it wasnt for the gear, the scene as we now know it wouldnt exist.........it was overflowing with gear at every Nighter & it was the fuel that kept it going & he knows it......in fact I would guess that there might have been 10% who were clean & I'm being very serious, do not believe everything you hear from RW he has been proven time agaqin to have blurred the truth with regards to the Casino, its tragic really & he's messin with peoples memories...... Russ
  21. I'm not being rude, but the doom sayers are talking rot........there will be a scene & the records will always be collectable, not only that, but the scene will continue to evolve with new discoveries coming through to hunt down n dance too & will be pretty much business as usual..................anyone who thinks we're 'it' is a bit up there own asses IMHO the music & the scene is bigger than our generation & will continue. There are new DJ's coming thru all the time, the best will rise to the top t'others wont & the sooner all the little half assed promotions bite the dust the better, lets get the good venues full & let the 'vanity' venues die.....after all a lot of these people wouldnt be DJing at all if it wasnt for the fact that its there promotion & theyre employing there mates & vice versa.......the scene in the UK will be smaller but better IMO. For decades people have tried to talk the scene down - Northern Soul is dead, no new good discoveries left blah, blah, blah..... Kepp the Faith Soul Brothers & Sistas Right On.......... Best Russ
  22. I dont think so to be honest......but hey if thats the case I cant wait......... Best Russ
  23. Good call buddy - Johnny Davis is great........have a good un tonite. Russ
  24. Yann, ya crazy f*cker, what ya letting this beauty go for . Russ
