  1. That's an odd one because it was a huge record for a short time and then it just vanished - Canada only release I think - I'd have thought £50 would get you one
  2. That Flirtations red issue is stunning

Seems it was the original and they just edited it down - same with Pookie Hudson, Rotations and other tracks on that brilliant cd.

The long version of Girl Across The Street is from the same CD as above
  5. Matt - Salmon sadly died 2 months ago mate.
  6. I agree. Too many unnecessary posts.

Can't say for definite but it looks like he either wrote or co-wrote all of them or 99% of them.
  8. No I was still in St Leonards On Sea John, I never went to the Lea Manor, apart from a chaotic stag night in 1982 I admire the pioneering spirit if not a lot of the music played there (am no fan of crossover) I think you'd enjoy the New Voice record, I think it's better than this Mercury one, but I do really like both of them.
  9. I don't know mate it was just sent to me on a PM
  10. Do you mean there are two different instrumentals on Contempo? One a remake and one the original? I think you need the one on Contempo Raries CS9016
  11. It's just that this scene never fails to amaze me. I never knew this existed before this week.

He did - he explained that on the youtube page - nothing to do with his personal favourite soul records, just his own ones that had videos - thats why number 1 is not by the Exciters but the only artist filmed doing the song
  13. Not officially but I shall tell you how to do it Mark. Copy the address of the podcast (the url) go to this site www.offliberty.com paste in the address that you copied it will now download
  14. For ENDING nighters you mean
  15. Doh! Was just about to do the same. Is that the one I sold you Grant?
  16. Mal C put me onto this. We both like a record called "Down By The Ocean" by George & Sonny Sands, from 1967 or 68 (New Voice label). It's a cracking beat ballad. Now Mal put me onto a 1975 release which uses the same backing track. Seven years later! Amazing stuff. The A side was a Mecca spin but has this B side just been totally overlooked? Sad to see the singer's daughter asking about it, saying her dad passed away several years ago and she doesn't have a copy of the record though.

I auctioned a job lot this week stating I will only post to UK addresses. Who's top bidder, a French person. I cancelled all his bids just in time. Dee is selling all Sam's Thomas stuff, we have stated COLLECTION ONLY and have already had four people asking if we can post it or have a courier pick it up. Is it really so difficult to read those two words? To send by courier we would have to go out and find at least three massive boxes and spend time packing them so that they can't be damaged, if they do get damaged then we'll get bad feedback. That's why we want collection only. I will be anyone right now that the winner asks if it can be posted.
  18. Calling anyone with kids under 6, I think - Davina is selling all of Sam's old "Thomas" stuff and there's tons of it, must be well over £500 worth that we accumulated, it's on ebay ending at 6.40 tonight and is only at £50 at the moment. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-COLLECTION-OF-THOMAS-THE-TANK-ENGINE-SETS-TRAINS-TOMY-TOMIKA-/261264557194?pt=UK_Toys_Creative_Educational_RL&hash=item3cd494c48a
  19. I'll remember that as I attempt to escape from the venue.
  20. This thread has gone to pot, it's obvious that midtempo records dominate the Northern Soul scene including allnighters so the question should be "will 100 MPH dancers ever return", Fascinators, Johnny Gilliam etc, they've been perfect allnighter records for 30 years so why are they suddenly not perfect? Not saying they should return (100 mph dancers) - but they must be outnumbered 10 to 1 by classy midtempo's, and I don't mean beat ballads.
  21. Not very
  22. Irma Routen. I cannot understand why Ian is raving over this. It sounds like a show tune. Worst record I've heard since Dolly Gillmore.
