Little John
No it's horrible, messy, too fast. But if you want a copy you might just about find the one that the Stafford boys pressed in the 80's, has Donald Jenkins on the other side, actually they either pressed it as Little Jean or Jimmy Raye or something like that, the label is Maf(mafia)Mon(monster)

Souled Out Film Hits Trouble?
Paul, thats Karen, she's nothing to do with Souled Out or Soul Source or anything, she's an enity on her own and I absolutely love her though a lot of people don't - says what she thinks, often gets in trouble for doing so but at least she sticks to her guns. Oh and she designed my website for me for free.

Played at Stafford. Covered up as Little Jean. A load of bollocks.

Hermon Hitson
No, I'm not disagreeing with you, just saying it was around a long time ago along with the instrumental version of I Hurt On The Other Side, round about the same time.

I've had that Nate Adams for nearly 20 years in fact I cut 3 or 4 of those for people in the late 90's so they are there somewhere. Proper metal acetates they were I never had the record but I had it recorded directly off it.

The Dreaded 'skinhead' Reggae Sound
The reason I called this section Reggae 68-71 is because most people think reggae began in 69 when in fact it was of course 68, and those early reggae records are amongst my favourite Jamaican records ever - the really fast, early reggae sounds: Mix it up, Been so long, People grudgeful, I am losing you, Uncle Joe, Worries a yard, Sufferer etc. I don't like any of the UK productions that came the following year except a few of Dandy's, and I don't really like any of Leslie Kongs post 68 productions. But I can't fauly Liquidator, Red red wine, Reggae in your jeggae, The burner, stuff like that. By 1970 I've almost lost interest though...and 90% of Studio One music from this time I find completely boring and unlistenable.

I'm not sure I actually commented on that incident Joan

Ja Vs Uk
I do the exact opposite - I don't place any value at all on my Jamaican records but cherish the UK ones, and I'll swap you any day!

Yam Yams R Us ! Dudley
I'd be interested in all of your opinions on the post I made in response to Swoz's Canal Club not getting a very good turn out... Sadly I had a feeling this might happen, for a number of reasons. Sunday's never been the best day to hold an event, it wasn't so bad when we were kids and could do Wigan then the Locarno straight after and still get up for work the next day, but it's changed from drugs to alcohol and people who like to drink generally don't like getting up early next morning. Swoz you needed to get maps of the venue posted up, I still don't know where it is or where car parks are, I only think I know roughly where it is. Thirdly, I have said to you and I say it to any of the other local promotors that I will advertise your events free of charge on my mailing list, I won't do this for anyone else except locals, guess how many people have asked me to advertise? None, thats how many. I think we all have to face up to the fact that in this area there are too many chiefs and not enough indians. People can't keep setting up venue after venue and expect them to be a success because there are just not enough punters to go around, and people don't have the money or the time to go somewhere every weekend unless the kids have flown the nest. The most successful and long running night around here is, I think, Goodyears. How, I don't know, because the music policy is hardly ground breaking, but I noticed the last time I was there that it wasn't about the music, it was packed out because of the social side of things. If people set up a venue around here playing newies, obscurities, cheapies and rare oldies, you've got no f*cking chance because there's just nobody who will support this type of venue. Also, there can't be that many venues left to try can there? So Goodyears, Max's do, maybe one or two others will survive because they have their audience, anything else I'm afraid is doomed to failure and I think local promoters may as well face up to this, oldies rule the area ever since the Vic closed.
