  1. I would love to go out and hear some new quality tunes, and I spent years and years going all over the country trying to find some. There was very little of quality out there. That's why I started my own nighter, so I could hear some decent new to me tunes. Anyone can play an hour of stuff that no one has heard before. The problem is you'll never want to hear them again because they are rubbish. I also spent years travelling round the country to listen to Dj's that were highly regarded so that I could book them for my event. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. With the exception of Butch, Andy Dyson and Kitch I never heard anyone that impressed me enough to book them. It's all down to taste, or should I say the lack of it. How can you hope to inspire dancers when you don't dance? And I've heard the stuff you play, and I stand by what I said.
  2. If it was available for a tenner, would you buy it? We are all desperate to hear something new, but at some stage you have to wake up and admit that all the good stuff has been found. Try going out without taking drugs or getting pissed. A great deal of the stuff being played now has nothing to do with northern.
  3. You knew what I meant John. I still don't get it. Rarity over quality in my humble opinion. 2 grand for that is madness.
  4. Played this a few times now on some good speakers loud, and I just don't get it Words that spring to mind are, barrel, scraping and bottom.
  5. I've had a couple over the years, all were on vinyl. Maybe they were boots?
  6. No it's a fact that the white demo is the only way to own this brilliant tune. The issue is very muffled with too much bass and Marjorie's voice lower in the mix. The demo is much sharper/crisper with Marjorie's voice to the fore. Same goes for Bobby Garrett- I can't get away. The demo is superb and on styrene. The issue is terrible quality with very low volume.
  7. If it's any good it won't need that Steve. Word of mouth and personal media will make it a must see, and a big hit. My fingers are still firmly crossed.
  8. It's called hot boxing and it's the future.
  9. Bloody hell, look out mate he'll be threatening you with legal action. He's done it with me a few times. There's only so much integrity when there's money involved. If you want to be certain of a fair deal, then you have to sell the stuff yourself.
  10. The thing is it ain't rarity that fetches the big prices, it's the big Wigan era stuff. Some very rare 45's have gone for peanuts in comparison. I love Gwen Owens by the way, and Eddie Parker come to that, but not that much.
  11. Just incredible.........what recession.
  12. Benji there's a Romance Watson on the Anglo American list that I put up in sales today. Give RIck a call or send him an email mate. Best regards, Phil.

  14. It's a two grand record all day long. Wonderful
  15. Yes, it was Tim's copy that went for big money Kev. I had always thought the demo was around £150- £200 but obviously not. To be honest, you don't see it for sale much these days. If I hear of one, I will let you know.
  16. Sorry to interrupt your thread sir, but I was recently astounded by how much this 45 is fetching nowadays. I just wondered if you we're aware of this?
  17. I think Dickie Watts copy was the last one one Manships auction. Can't remember if it played perfect or not, but seem to remember it went for around £3.5K.
  18. I think someone should pin some of this thread. This question seems to come up every other week.
  19. Yes I do. You can only scream "hold on" so many times before it goes from crescendo, to bloody annoying. There's a very fine line between brilliant, and over doing it. To me the 45 has got it just right.
  20. I personally think it ruins a great record. The 45 is one of the best tunes ever put on vinyl in my humble opinion, and you can't improve on perfection.
  21. Absolutely Kev......Wish I still had them.
  22. I actually did once I think.
  23. Let my copy go very cheap then. Mick H got a bargain.
  24. How much? I hope you are joking.
  25. Here's the Prophets track. Happy days. Prophets - Hey,hey,hey.mp3
