Tmg Or Us Original, Which Would You Go For Generally?
Generally UK earlier Motown 45's much dearer than the US issues, and probably a better sound on the British 45's, but if you want true Soul originals, the US stuff has to be it (but if you want genuine 1st issues be careful, loads of US Tamla / Motown / Gordy etc re-issued several times in the 60's / early 70's ) - at one time, I had 7 copies of Brenda Holloway 'When i'm gone ' - and I seem to remember there were 5 different label variations !!

Try to grow a sense of humour - life can be hard enough as it is without boring old tossers wasting time and space moaning about fuck all !

Which Northern Track You Dislike The Most
Can't agree, classic, tho' very dated 60's soul sides, don't ever hear them out anyway, so no point in slagging them off ?

Striped Blazer
No, young Mark has moved on to a lovely grey and black striped de-mob double breasted suit, circa 1946 ...worn with a pair of 40's black / white mobster style leather winkle pickers, and a shiny toff's monocle on his left eye, and sometimes sports a stunning fluorececent green lampshade made into a pork pie hat on his head = this guy has style !!

Striped Blazer
Got one now, a beautiful little number in navy, with red and tan thin striping, wore it at the 100 Club anniv - had some very encouraging and kind compliments, apart from Mick Smith, who asked where i'd moored my boat.

Abc Records - Joey Gee, Dawn
Anyone know why Joey Gee ' It's more than I deserve ' and Dawn ' Baby's gone away ' appear on both ABC Paramount, and the later ABC label, both seen on black issue and white demo on the Paramount label, but I've only seen demos of both on the other imprint (with the Abc in a circle). J. Manship has a Dawn demo on his site at present. Surely both weren't reissued ? According to an ABC US discography on the internet, the Paramount label finished at 10803, and releases after this are the later design, and as these two are 10781 and 10791, they shouldn't be ?!

Mmmm.....probably at least half of the sounds on the Searling playlist feature a white vocal, and most people would argue it was Winstanley who played most of the pop stuff at Wigan ?? comments, anyone ?

Earl Connelly..make Up Your Mind On Macon
I've got the 120/121 release on the white/green label, and it is a slightly slower, more x-over type cut than the 1976 114/115/119 Mecca spin, I actually prefer the later (1977) cut. According to Tim Brown's price guide, Maycon 115 came out twice, first purple, then orange label. I Personally think that all the releases are fantastic examples of the best of seventies northern.

Is it smokey by Lou d. Washington ??- Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
Anyone else notice how many of these hated records are old, overplayed, played out oldies .... just goes to show how many venues are spinning the predictable, worn out, boring, and totally shite sounds all forward thinking soul collectors don't need to hear anymore !!- Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
Don't forget, there is a difference between records you have always disliked, and those that have been spun so much, you have grown to dislike.- Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
- Spyder Turner - I Can't Make It Anymore - Other Version
Several versions of this wonderful tune, the great Spyder Turner, excellent Richie Havens crossover version, and there is an obscure white group version on a Detroit label that appears on Ebay sometimes- Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
James Brown ' People wake up ' LP track only ? No it's not !- Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
- Chantelle & The Aqualads?
Actually THE CHANTELLS with the AQUA LADS ' I'LL NEVER KNOW ' on AQUA 8-8755, just got one arrived from US today, cost me $150, well worth it, awesome sound, played covered by Carl Fortnum, Butch, etc in the early 90's. Label is from Kannapolis, N. Carolina i believe, and must be the same Aqua lads as on the Gold Bee release, as both credita R. Edwards (tho' Gold Bee 45 has N.Y. address). Quite a hard one I think, can only find 3 that have appeared on Popsike.- Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
One wonderful moment - Shakers (One terrible 45) We were made for each other - Terrible Tom ( Another terrible noise, but liked by many) Seeds - Pushing too hard (Played at Wigan '81 by R.W. - good Psyche sound, bloody terrible soul sound)- Top Tips For 2013
What about the great and not too well known Soulful modern mover ' KEEP SMILIN ' from EDDIE JAY & RAY on PPL.- The Delreys Inc. Destination Unknown - Tampete 5444
Delreys inc. on Tampete ............Think I will offer it on here as a mini auction, as several people have expressed an interest in buying it. Sounds like it's the proper 1st one, with 5444 in top side deadwax, and 5544 in flip side deadwax, very shiny, clean condtion, plays excellent. Best offer by end of day, Thursday 3rd Jan will secure. UK bidders only, add £4.50 to send insured. (Paypal as a gift). Thanks, Jez.- Margaret Little On Ebay
Saw that the damaged copy of Margaret Little on Genebro finally sold for $650 (£402) on Ebay - seems like a massive amount of money for a 45 missing a significant part of its vinyl !?! I know it's a very desirable and rare (5 or 6 copies ?) record, but i don't know why anyone would want to pay that sort of money for a 45 in that condition, ' first 7 or 10 grooves missing ' - probably losing up to 15 secs or so off the disc. Perhaps another ' Trophy record ' that a cheque book collector wants in his collection, irrespective of actual condition ?? At the end of the day it is his cash, but seems bloody crazy to me. Any comments, anyone ? - Crazy Lyrics In Northern Soul
