Having A Laugh. Prices Plus Paypal Fees
Why dont we just adopt the Record collectors grading ready reckoner. It stops people from overpricing from book values. If you dont know this system get a copy of Record collector rare record price guide Or maybe some one could scan it ( For education puposes-Your not breaking copyright that way) and post it up for all to see. If people say they dont use the guides then why are most dealers prices & certain individuals (Except Pedro) so close to the guide prices? What gets me is people overcharging for postage & packing - It should cost what it costs and nothing more Spending time packing and taking to the post office is part of the Unit price of the item not part of the P&P charge- any businessman knows that!

Post Office Claims
Ive only had 2 in 8 years that were both broken The first one went pretty straight forward but the second which was Gladys Knight - Gotta get a hold of yourself on maxx was a nightmare. I sent all the documents they requested ebay- Paypal etc and they sent me a pack of 6 1st class stamps as compensation - I made a complaint and the complaints dept upheld my complaint and I got all the money back which was only £35 but it was the sheer audacity of the post office in sending me those stamps saying I had not complied with thier request that really got to me. It took nearly 3 months to get sorted. I once sent a record registered and paid the inflated extra to make sure it got there 1st thing Monday morning only to find out it arrived Tuesday afternoon. They said I was wrong until I showed them thier own tracking system - Not even an apology Just sent 3 records to you John Via Special delivery- Hope you get them allright

Charity Event Or For Profits
The Djs should not be paid and should also if asked offer a record or 2 for the raffle The recently cancelled one by Jayne (Miss Burysoul) I was Djing at. I was coming from Aberdeen to Manchester at my own expense and still will when the date is re-arranged. & I was bringing items for the raffle and I dont expect any money but Just a good night out thats all. The Charity that Jayne is doing it for happpens to be very close to my heart and its one way to give back to Christies for all the fabulous care they gave my father in his last weeks. So A charity event should be just that everything goes to the Charity full stop! Steve

Ebay Bootleggers 84 Items Now
I think each of us should go on ebay and report each item as a bootleg. Ebay would sit up and take notice especially if its 50 different people as If I report each one it could be seen as a vendetta from one member. Ive started with Solomon Burke Whose next!

Value Please-Francis Faye-Comin' Home Baby

No Recent Northern Discovery Would Have Cut It At Wc
Have to agree with Epic here I could close my eyes- Imagine I was back at the casino - & hear Deon Jackson - Someday the Sun will shine - It would have been massive (Even spaces for the odd multi clap etc) Now an unusual one - I think at the time of Joe 90 then this might have been a monster if pushed hard by a certain Dj - Millie - My Street (because it has all the makings of a uptempo stomper with a Carolyn cooke style voice)

The Beatles Backed By The Funk Bros
The Beatles had their moment in influencing others but so did lots of people Not everything progressed out of the popularism of the Beatles Elvis Presley was before the Beatles so whose to say that he didnt influence popular music to the same Degree. I quite like some of the Beatles stuff especially when I was 4 playing my Tennis racket to "Twist & Shout. But I also liked Helen Shapiro at the same time or Little Richard which was way before the Beatles. Lets not forget "The Pretty things" as one of the leading lights of pop music in the early sixties The list could go on- The Beatles didnt influence Lez Zeppelin as they grew out of more of a blues influence not Pop and some might say they were the greatest band in the world. So what I am saying is its all relative to the popularism of when you were brought up based on your age. As we get older we do see things different! The Beatles to some are shite and to their Gods- Its all as said just like Beauty! Im going home now to Play "The Moves- Flowers in the rain and remember that I liked the record for the melody and not the political undertones that the record was aimed at as I didnt understand politics at that time- Do I now?

Phyllis Brown On Le Cam
As far as I am aware it was never booted and the difference between the 2 labels is just a different pressing plant a little time later- Please tell me if I am wrong. Not noted as a boot in any of JMs bootleg guides. ATB Steve

Ovo Definition
Jock I wasnot looking for a Friday Ruck - I swear on my Grandmothers soul! I was hoping for simple answers but being stupid as I am that was too much to ask But i thank everyone for their contributions and yes I agree the thread hasnt had any real nastiness which has been unusual for a question like this one! This is my definition OVO is the first original issue or demo either by Local label or national label Other labels who pick it up to promote nationally is acceptable within say 2-3 year period but the above first line is the preferred option. Grapevine records or the like are only acceptable if The tune was not issued on any format. Original Lps are fine even if the tune was issued on 45 at the time as sometimes you dont know which came first. Original Acetates - Not reproduced/copied are fine Uk issued 45s specifically for the Northern scene are not acceptable eg Disco demand or even 70s Capitol uk issues of original 60s US releases This would also include the uk London/brunswick 70s issued 45s Acetates/ Vinyl made from Cds - Not acceptable So thats where I see it- and in a couple of days will trawl through all the comments and try to formulate a consensus definition for the other site I agreed to post it on ATB Steve
