  4. seen on list between £50-100 but maybe that doesn't help much ?
  5. Looking 4 this as close to mint as possible at a fair set price on the gold label by All Platinum & not the Atlantic distributed one. Like so;
  6. the Carl Carlton on Back Beat shouldn't cost more than £10-12 & the 2nd track is the Terrifics 'leaves alone' on Diamond Jim it's rare and $$$.
  7. OK like RobbK described it both have the same "original" matrix. The one he described and defined is the most common one. It is sung by Emmanuel Laskey. Even though I also have this very record, the first one I've had before getting the other one, it always bugged me how the mastering seemed "faulty". The whole backing track is on the highs only and there's no bass to give it some "body". Like you only get one channel or half of the backing track. I'm sure something went wrong at the mastering and/or the recording stage. And when I heard the "scratched out matrix" copy with full horns and b"r"ass mix, I was reassured to finally hear that great song with a good sound. Then, Emmanuel Laskey is not there anymore since it is Billy Kennedy singing instead. I love Billy Kennedy, but I really love love Emmanuel Laskey so I kept both copies...

  9. Great great record that is. Pat Pow.. is strange and OK pop IMHO. It shows how "deejay&orcollectors" can be ear-blind. The Marvelows don't command much money but for 20£, I'd be willing to buy few to supply my sales box. In my experience it's not rare but less common than any other numbers by the band.
  10. You mean a stocker of the Marvelows 'do it' b/w 'I've got my eyes on you' on ABC-Paramount ? If so a scan please ?
  11. Are you sure to have seen a lot of stockers of this one 'do it' ? I've seen a lot of stockers for their 'I do' (previous release on ABC) but never nowhere a stocker of 'do it'. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it must be rare since even the few promos popping up from time to time are scarce. It's not so well known or in-demand but indeed the 'I've got my mind on you' by the Marvelows is a real killer that if better known should over rule the Channels version one day !
  12. the Marvelows 'I've got my eyes on you' (1965) is a cover from the Channels (1964) but IMHO kills it by miles. The musical arrangements are heavier and the vocals... I do love the other Channels 45 on Groove but not IGMEOY next to the Marvelows !
  13. The red copies with "Distrubuted by Independent Producers' Group" is a later pressing. How late I could not say. But like stated here above by Dave with a "revive" factor for the record in Florida and the split between Beatty and Hendrix it all make sense it could be a '66 or '67 release where the Carrie is '64. I was just pointing out that the title 'temptation of love' was also released on Lanrod (yellow) as it was also released as 'I love you so' both on yellow Lanrod as the later red one ! And while I was at it, the mix on the red one is somewhat slowed down some to a smoother effect that IMHO suits the song for an improvement. And I'm very conservative with those issues, treatments kinda things in general !
  14. Indeed but might be a bit more tricky; The acetate was done for Carrie then with the title release as 'temptation of love'. It was then re-released soon after on Lanrod (yellow still with title 'TOL'). 'I love you so' was most likely change for a better fitting title and growing success. It was re-release and briefly (most copies have the distributer credits blacked out) picked-up for national distribution on Lanrod (red) with an "improved" mix work for 'ILYS' IMHO.
  15. I'm not a British collector and do favor USA and € pic sleeves cuties, but I do have the occasional 45 UK pressings if there's not other way to own it on a seven incher. The only TMG I have (few others bits I still need) is the Isley Brothers 'I guess...' b/w 'it's out of the question' TMG683. Simply cheap'N'FAB !
  16. Not sure about the Nico being first... and I might be wrong but since there's no "proper" demo (even though there are white labels for both the Fabulous Emotions & the Intrigues, but are they demos at all ?) for the Nico issue N-1000 and the Intrigues 'in a moment' on Bullet (1969) N-1001, why would the Nico be first whilst there's a demo for the Tamboo issue ? They (Martin & Bell with the Intrigues) went for a bigger exposure to YEW after that. Why would they then launch a "small" project like Tamboo with just two releases after/in between that ? I'd believe it's rather the other way around. The Nico would then be a second release followed by the Intrigues then reach for the sky... And I might be in the wrong at the same time. There's also the Tam-Boo/Tamboo Chicago label that might have forced them to drop the label's name maybe ?
  17. Motown releases they are !
  18. Odd things happens, here's a new one; https://www.mixcloud.com/Cloudfunk/timmy-soul-presents-soul-survivor/ Herb Ward — strange change Elridge Holmes — worried over you the Lockettes — I love the boy next door the Symphonics — guilty the Carstairs — it really hurts me Esther Phillips — home is where the hatred is Eloise Laws — love factory the Vontastics — I’ll never say goodbye Vernon Garrett — angel doll Chuck Overton- I’m so thankfull Geraldine Hunt — you brought the joy
  19. My bad here (I have in mind to have read somewhere december), but in fact it's rather early/mid 1973. Anyway, baring in mind that it is earlier it would makes this release few months earlier than first thought/calculated. So Ian D is likely to be more accurate than vague from his memory.
  20. The pink is legit, it's just not a second issue IMHO, since a second issue is made a short while after the first release. Either to supply the demand while it's becoming a hit or to promote it to a larger market through a national distributor or label. A reissue is made after/later for a "revival" to meet a new demand.
  21. Weither it took 12 months, some more or some less, reissues are made when they are/can be made, not when the dealers/shops need to sell them cause it's a hot sound. Bootlegs are just that on the other hand. B*llocks... are a pair and so are eyes: this (RC807) is the same as (RC 801) rather than (RC 814) !!! Is that what you say ? So where does the factor about new release comes in as a proof of anything ? Records in the USA often had a second lease. Sometimes few years after the first one. Sometimes even on another label or under new credits. Those did also found their ways in their time of release with "real" the new released stuffs on to the shelves. Beside the factor of the gap between the two editions (Chess v/s Red Lite) it's a second/reissue that revealed to my surprise (as jordirip's) a vital sound issue to it and I was wondering if anyone could explain WHY beside the one being vinyl and the other one a styrene press.
  22. Here it is; the 3 firsts were Chess distributed then self, then through Red Lite and the last one here RC 814 has all the same letterings... as the pink Carstairs and it's 1975 ! So at least a year and I've read that it could have been 2...
  23. There're good vinyls out there as bad ones. Styrene is the same. But here I believe the quality of the styrene is maybe not the best, but that is not the whole problem to my ears with this 45; the styrene pink issue is not as loud, not as clear and somehow sounds like a muffled poor mono on it's own and now even more after hearing the white demo first issue. It's a bit like comparing an original 6T's jamaican 45 with a 7T's reissue. The sound quality issue is the same as here and tend to make you fall out of love of these release in the end that are so lo-fi. Good styrene on a good system have a bigger sound spectrum than vinyls since they have more depth: the bass are lower and the highs are higher. Totally agree there.
