Capitols 'tired running from you' Karen WDJ west coast !!! £25 free P&P
!!! SOLD !!! This is the rarer west coast styrene press that plays perfectly. Which isn't the case with most of the other vinyl press. I've had so many vinyl promos and stockers copies through the years that played with strong hiss, noise and/or sound distortion. Due to poor vinyl material and/or mastering work. Listen to those two wonderful sides as they should be. This is the vey reason why this copy commands this higher end-price. Overall condition Ex. Sound clip of both sides and scans from actual record for sale. capitols.mp3 PM me for details. Gradings used are M/Ex/Vg... through +/- £25 free P&P all over the world - add £6 to have it registered

Rosevelt Grier 'since you've ben gone' RIK WDJ Ex+ £20 free P&p
Real nice condition on this one. Sticker on both sides of label that is supposed to be from a Belgian record "representative" company of some sort. 'Belinda' and 'Melinda' music companies was the one and the same and so if you find them stickers on some UK or USA 45's, I't's from that company that operated from the early 6T's to the early 7T's. One "slice" of the lot, from where this very single comes from, was sadly splitted and scattered all over Belgium and beyond I've even been told... It must have been huge originally. I left the sticker on this copy so the record still can tell the story. The day it was glued on the record was likely out of the pressing plant and right after it was shipped from N.Y. to 'Belindamusic' in the mid-sixties. Sound clip of both sides and scans from actual record for sale. roosevelt grier.mp3 PM me for details. Promises 'this love is real' BRC stocker or not ?
No, there's a stocker of their 'living in the footsteps of another girl' but NOT of 'this love is real (i can feel those vibrations)', unless you can show me...
-
Promises 'this love is real' BRC stocker or not ?
Does it exist on a black and colored stock copy on BRC or was it only issued as promos ?

Promises 'living in the footsteps' BRC WDJ Ex £30 free P&P
!!! SOLD !!! The BEST version IMHO. Evergreen soul stuff with all those little gimmicks to make it way above your everyday average pop tune. Superior to the original of the Chi-Lites and unrivaled by the later Maryann Farra & Satin Soul, brilliantly stolen by Delroy Wilson for a roots/soulful reggae Bunny Lee production, the song was covered by so many through the years. And hinted for the original video clip by member on here 'sunnysoul' that is like watching Dolly Parton in triple vision in Disney Land with better moves than Betty Boop swinging in her Looney Tunes... it all revived it for me. Overall Ex or better condition but has the slightest warp that is very faint to downgrade it to an Ex. Sound clip and scans of actual record for sale. promises.mp3 PM me for details. RARER WHITE DEMOS old thread anyone ?
Hi Gibby, so you acknowledge that there is no white label for this one ! The demo, as you have, are stamped with red stars ? Can you provide a scan or a good picture ?
-
RARER WHITE DEMOS old thread anyone ?
Yep, I've done it all round searching on the net with all options... When I read that it existed on here in that old thread, I was glad to hear it should exist and so while there is life there is hope. I'm still kinda dubious since after all those years I have all the first round from Big Wheel label N° 1967 to 1970 on WLP (it doesn't say PROMO on the label anyway). But not the N° 321 'I'm a fool (I must love you)' which is supposedly prior to those and so it might never got to see a promo release...
-
RARER WHITE DEMOS old thread anyone ?
Few years ago there was a thread here about naming the much rarer demo to the common issue 45's or the much less rarer issue to the ultra rare demo and it went sometimes vice/versa. Someone in the thread claimed that there was a white demo to the Falcons 'I'm a fool (I must love you) on Big Wheel. Has anyone seen, hold scan or photographed one ?

Millie Jackson's 1'st MGM vinyl STOCKER !!! £35 free P&P
!!! SOLD !!! No bluff ! How rare is this funk piece in it's stocker clothes ? Those promos are all styrene and I would like to believe that some picky collectors are just like me that they want all their MGM's to be on vinyl ! No ? Anyway, the rarests MGM's stockers on the northern front can really be rare. This particular funkster and ballad (real 'A' side) sticks definitely amongst the rarest MGM's stockers out there (Dean Courtney...). It's only in vg condition overall but is a good enough copy to DJ with and/or a collector's filler. Price reflecting condition. Soundclip of both sides and scans from actual record for sale: millie.mp3 PM me for details. Gradings used are M/Ex/Vg... through +/- £35 free P&P all over the world - add £6 to have it registered

'my baby likes to boogaloo' Emperors DJ Ex £30 free P&P
My fave is their b-side 'I've got to find her', just my intention to share my enthusiasm...
-
'my baby likes to boogaloo' Emperors DJ Ex £30 free P&P
!!! SOLD !!! This is a good alternative version to Don's original that is not hammered... Yet ! Maybe less powerful and gritty but definitely refreshing with a 'young, wild and unadulterated' attitude. The Emperors pedigree has nothing to pale either. All their 45's capture that "garage gig band" energy that they were. This is IMHO the better looking promo paper label to the more common painted plastic label. It's in great Ex condition. scans and sound clip of both sides from actual record for sale. emperors.mp3 PM me for details. Gradings used are M/Ex/Vg... through +/- £30 free P&P all over the world - add £6 to have it registered

Four Sonics-Triple B
This is from my set-up (not reworked) as such; turntable: Thorens TD160 'Super', tonearm: SME 3009 S2 converted into a heavy mass, headshell: Ortofon SPU 'G' model, cartridge Denon DL-102 (MONO), through a Isem 'Modulis' pre-amp (frequencies set to my taste), amplifier Etalon 'Exampli' then through passive volume "modulator" and straight into my mac using Audacity program without anything. It took me enough time, studying (I'm not a tech geek one bit) and little money spent here and there to add-up to a lot of dosh in the end to build up a proper home phono to read RIGHT those old USA 45 we love so much. There can be justice in this world sometimes. Sound reading of vinyls and styrene starts with the needle drop and everything that comes in between it and the speakers will challenge what you hear. Then there's the room and it's acoustic characteristics...All this I do know very well now. I will have to re-record them again so I will be able to send you a full and heavy recording of it since I never keep those full and heavy 'WAV' files. I will let you know when it's there for you.
-
Four Sonics-Triple B
Here t'is with both sides in one clip. 4 sonics.mp3 Straight out of my turntable and amp. Requires good speakers on your computer though. I think it plays better on this last "set-up" improved phono. Now depending what you call the flip. But there are definitely issues in the process of the recording and/or mastering. The 'blue velvet' side is absolutely messy. At the end of the song there are major dilemmas between the right and left channels and my needle and cartridge read mono !
-
Four Sonics-Triple B
Yes, as far as I remember it does saturate on the highs and it's rather sad since it's the take I like best. I'll dig my copy and check if my last conversion and improvement on my tonearm and turntable will read this capricious styrene better and more properly or not. Will let you know with an mp3 recording.

3 45s in a box
Doesn't do anything for me. The 2 firsts sounds like European prods and number 3 sounds like a "crooner" wanna be hip "à la Tom Jones"...

News: Deep Soul - Label Resurrected with Two New 45s
Same here, never kept a copy of Jaibi but I always picked it up and before it become a "collector" item amongst the "soul" or "northern soul" front, I always sold it as a "pop" record. Which is what it always sounded to me. With all the respect due to those who, like Dave Godin who listen to it differently than me, I understand the selector's choice for it's release as the label revive with Dave G. special mention for it. ***** Ady
