Butch Plays - Titles Wanted Please
I remember the first ‘Modern’ set butch did, I mean officially like at a do, me and Derek Jack hung about for that… it was great set, but not many folks turned up,,, some where in London I think… anyhow he’s on here, sure he remembers the night… DB, is brill as you say, but is it a butch spin? I think so but I can’t be sure that Latin break track I mentioned was Jimmy Castor - it’s ok, on Jet Set.

Butch Plays - Titles Wanted Please
Add in the two Edna McGriff ~ Been Hearing About You acetates… And I think, Darrell banks - knocking at your door? There are a few of those all different cuts of the same song, Richard Searling has one for sure. different version of Ann Haywood on Hondo, and he used to spin a real fast track at the 100 club, with a kinda Latin break, can’t remember the name, it’s on Jet Set records…

Your Top Fives Songs From - The Manhattans
Love all their Carnival Material, but very much like their Deluxe Records tracks, especially 'Give Him Up' as it was the first record that I identified as 'Sweet' and that record sent me in to collecting seventies in a big way...

Clean Gene Chandler- Any Favorites?
There maybe a few of them Paul, interesting idea. ‘Big shot’ for me sticks out as a song in his catalogue, dunno why just does. anyhow Mr Gene Chandler has done so much, we can only give him praise here, he just cannot be touched can he. A real good track that doesn’t get talked about much is ‘Teacher Teacher’ good record.

Clean Gene Chandler- Any Favorites?
For sheer Northern appeal, 'Bet You Never Thought', from the seventies, 'Without You Here', from the eighties 'Let Me Make Love To You' 🙂 And for the record, the one track I really never liked, at all! was 'Mr. Big Shot', so I'm gonna swap that one out with 'Such A Pretty Thing' on a nice Aussie Issue 🙂

The best soul album
I’ve been watching this thread for days, asking myself, given what’s been mentioned so far, what is really good, i.e., if you are having a beer, settling down, searching for something on a Friday night, what do you go straight to, because you know you can drop the needle and sit back and enjoy, so here goes. Both Manhattans Carnival LPs, For You and yours' & 'Dedicated to You' Willie Hutch - Soul Portrait - already mentioned, but it’s so good you have to! Ronnie McNeir - Ronnie McNeir, RCA & Tamla Motown releases of the same name. Larry Saunders - Prophet of Soul plus his others Leo's Sunship - We need each other Millie Jackson - all of em! but especially 'Still Caught Up' Both Mike James Kirkland Lp's inc Doin it Right King Floyd - Heart of the matter, which ever label you have it on. Betty Wright, all her Alston Lp's but esp 'I love the way You Love' JJ Barnes - Steve Mancha - Rare Stamps Gwen McCrae - Rockin Chair / CAT Doris Duke - I’m a Loser / Canyon Glen Anthony Henry - Relax and Love, massive Lp in 2008, upbeat thumpin tracks ! Jesse James - Let me show you / Soul Junction, brilliant LP throughout... Windy City - Let Me ride / Chi City Ecstasy Passion & Pain - Roulette - great throughout! My favourite Lp, which defies all, what label have you got it on? Bull shit, because it don’t matter! Terry Callier - Timepeace, 9 brilliant songs from the very missed Terry Callier 😞 That’s mi lot.

EMI Australia Info request
Cheers, I did pm you a few weeks ago, as I thought you might turn something up, you ignored me. the numbering system TMO to the 8000 series was in 1968, I have all that already. Ken East was in the uk from 62/3 to 66/7, so had no input with Tamla Motown launch in 65, so he’s not the territory boss for Australia in 1965. I have Bill Stanford, who was Personnel Director @ EMI GB, in 63, then became general Manager Overseas Division. So would have been the person the territory boss (Australia) would have reported into. what I need is the person responsible for the launch down under, not East, as he's no in Australia at the time, he’s working for EMI GB. I'm doing Cameo Parkway label, and that’s of interest, but this thread is a call about Tamla Motown Australia in 65.

EMI Australia Info request
Hi everybody, currently doing research on the Tamla Motown label in Australia, I’m interest in chatting to anybody who has knowledge of the setup at EMI Australia around the launch of the label in 1965. regards Malcolm

What is the best on line music App for rare soul?
Apple et al, have access to major label catalogues, in recent times companies like Kent & Numero group have got their catalogues onto these platforms, which has really diversified what you can expect to hear. That said, there is so much that we listen too, that simply won’t make its self onto streaming services, personally I'd stick with your own library of music, but you may find a mix of the two works for you. Apple are ok, but outside of general compilations, thery are thin on the rare soul side..

Styrene cleaning
That works for me. That said the wood glue on vinyl trick does work very well, especially on lps, other than that soap and water every time

What is the best on line music App for rare soul?
Think you would need a i phone to access…. best thing to do in my opinion is get your phone (I Phone or other) uploaded with a good selection of mp3 and run via Bluetooth. Maybe a silly standpoint, but I don’t want apple or Spotify deciding on what rare soul I listen to, put your own music up there… it’s cheaper for one, and you own it outright, no subscription fees
