  1. Cheers Tim, as I said, I did my best on the dates, it aint easy!! lol. So we get the below with that amendment on the date for 'That girl' (local green release). So going by our dates, it is just over a year from the local 'Porgy' release of 'That's My Girl' to Chess picking it up and getting it out on demo... Intersting point on the verve release Neil, we havent seen an issue have we? seems given Porgy moved on with the song, it's likely Verve halted at the demo stage.. but like to know if it did ever get issued... I've also added the flip on the Tribune release. Finally, anybody out there know more about the 'Congratulations' acetate? I might ask Tim Brown about 'Keep A Hold on Me' as surely from the same source...? ------ Monarchs Of Winston 1962 - Monarchs Of Winston-Salem - Army of Love / Do the anything / Tribune (T-1002) Porgy & The Monarchs 1963 (July)- Stay / Somebody Said (I'd Cry Someday) (Mala 462) 1966 (May) - That Girl / Is It for Real Baby (Musicor MU 1179) 1966 (Dec) - My Heart Cries for You / Think Twice Before You Walk Away (Musicor MU 1221) 1968 (May) - Love Chain / Magic Music Makes (Verve VK 10197) 1968 (July) - That's My Girl / (That) Boy and Girl (Verve VK 10609) 1968 (Oct)- That's My Girl / The Girl and The Boy (Sylves 123) Local NY Deep Green Release 1969 (Nov) - That's My Girl / The Girl and The Boy (Sylves 123) Chess distributed W-Demo 1969 (Dec) - That's My Girl / The Girl and The Boy (Sylves 123) Chess Distributed Light Green Iabel 1975 - My Heart Cries for You / Think Twice Before You Walk Away (Musicor MU 1221) Bootleg Blue & Yellow label variation marked as demos 1975 (Oct) - My Heart Cries for You / Think Twice Before You Walk Away (Musicor MU 1221) Reissued & Mis-pressed by Musicor with Hey Girl (You're A Dream I've Always knew) instead of ‘Think Twice’. 2. Just wondered, anybody have a scan, or confirm whether the 'Congratulations' Bell Sound Acetate was just a 7 inch, with congratulations written on it? or was it off a 12 inch with other tracks? I say that because I remember a 7 inch scan, but the pic on this YT clip has a 12 inch, could just be a picture of cousre..
  3. This happened to me and Russ Gilbert (Amsterdam Russ) on here. In that he has an unreleased acetate of a 'Duke Turner' track, which I've got on a carver, it's on YT but not in its entirety, but my carver is. He and I spoke about this at great length, and he's cool, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it, I just thought it was another Duke Turner & Chi Towns on Spinning Top records... it's a 'carver with Turner on one side and Audrey Matthews - I Have no choice on the back, which probably dates it as that was a name that changed isnt it. So it happens 😕 assuming of course, it is a one off... who knows..

Hi folks, need a few UK 45's, condition is everything, must be EX++ or Mint, if I can get em! I have nice Parlophone sleeves so not bothered about those, but these are to replace Issue copies I already have, I'd happily swap / trade my issues for the below demos plus cash. Brian Auger & The Trinity - Tiger / Columbia Demo (Green/White) DB8163 The Action - Land of 1000 Dances / I'n my Lonely Room / Parlaphone Records Demo (Red/White) R5354 The Action - Since I Lost My Baby / Baby You Got it / Parlaphone Records Demo (Red/White) R4574 The Action - Never Ever / 24th hour / Parlaphone Records Demo (Red/White) R5572 I have the yank demo on Capitol already... Anybody got the test press / demo for the 1982 Edsel 'Action' Lp? Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger & The Trinity - Streetnoise LP (Gatefold) or any good quality Brian Auger & The Trinity & Julie Driscoll 45's, especially interested in any Australian releaaes on them, which would be on Polydor, I have 'Wheels on Fire' already. A Real shame, RIP Marlena Shaw. One of my favorites is 'I'm Back for More', the below clip has the wrong Lp art, as it was released her Columbia LP 'Acting Up'. Also done by Leo's Sunship (Lyons), Al Johnson (Columbia) and Bobby Womack & Lulu (Dome). Although Marlena's is my favorite one... that intro!!
  11. anybody got a nice copy of this one? Shirley & The Squires - Drip Drop / Constellation Records I've seen Craig Moerer's one online.. Malc

  13. I know a track by Basic Black & Pearl, thats on Wam and later on Polydor, very nice 45 that is... all I can see in my minds eye is that Black Pearl Label, you know the one on The 'Touch Me, Hold Me'... funny how the mind throws back pictures, given our propensity to know a track, simply by looking at the label... !! Here is one which you all know of course, and is very hard on Demo, never got issued, Colin Curtis spin, I think... this acetate has the long version on it and was cut at NY Frankford Wayne, as apposed to Philly plant / location.
  14. and this crossover collectable, sounds earlier, but says 81 on the label 🙂 also La'fez - No Matter, on MJW
  15. Here is a brilliant one, only on the Gordy issue, not the demo

yeah the Yvonne & violets-cross my heart, is a bit much really in comparison... fair to say, the prices on some tracks on there are all over the place, and that's because they are simply not Auction items...
  17. Hi folks, I missed this when it was released last year, anybody got a nice one? Malc
  18. "You Don't need to be listed in the yellow pages! to be gifted" 'God Gifted' by Californa Flight Project...
  19. Hey Steve, hope you are well. I'm referring to collectors, not soul nights, I don't go to events any longer. I could not tell you anything about any 'Scene' today. But John Manship had a copy on Auction a while back, maybe a 8-9 months ago, something like that, about the same time I read that 'The Numbers - Got To Pull Away' was getting spins, and I know that as it 'We The People' was new to quite a few, me included, it made a stir... lot of folks after it, any copies on Discogs etc, they all sold pretty immediately.. I still need a copy 😞
  20. Don't want to shoulder in too much, but what do folks think of this one? early 7ts track, its goes for money, and is I guess a rare one... think the writer had a bag of marbles in his pocket when he wrote it...

  22. The truth is, there are loads of these 45s out there, they sound real nice when you first hear them, for the most part, they are rare, but ultimately, uninspiring... that 'Exit' Ive posted above, kinda the same really? Movin on, there was another 45 that got action not that long ago, The Numbers - Got To Pull Away on Rolashed, semi rare 45, but my god it's a good one. I've gone lolly about this reciently...rare on the Noodle label 45. This cover they used isnt wrong, but it's spelt 'The Tropics' on the 45...
  23. We The People - Ain't No Way / Magnetic South Records, made big waves quite recently, and it's brilliant!! right up my street, anybody got one for sale? still dont have a copy.... Oaxaca - Stop Your Crying, is very nice, on MARIPOSA Records, Ms. Victoria Barnes - Never Too Late, Morris - Can we melt the Ice, and Mojoba - I Know, all classics that dont turn up much.. This is a good one for this thread...no idea if they are the same bunch as the 'Detroit Leaning' on IPS, I posted earlier, don't sound like it.. there is another grouop called 'Exit' on JAY Records, with 'Life is what you make it again', again dont sound the same, but they maybe.. anybody know?
  24. Checked out the first episode of 'Bones' last night via Netflix, Hhhmmmm... I like this story, it could unfold to be very interesting, but their sets, share, for the most part, the same location in Whitechappel (1941 and 1890) are unconvinsing. Period drama, in my opinion always falls down on sets / costume, some better, allot worse than others, very few convince me we are in the year the story is speaking about. Gripe over, I'll hang onto episode two tonight, see where it leads me...
  25. apologies, updated with correct images ;-0)
