  1. I've never read this guys book, but would love to find out where he got his info, I did speak to Greg Tormo some years back at Cleethorpes and he said that he has spoken to H.June Jackson, but he did not tell me much more that that... anybody know what the initial H stands for? Perhaps he was Horace, or Hugo.. or Humphrey... Laughs Malcolm
  2. not quite the same, but the reason I'm selling this one.. great tune, still available at a cheap price, as is Doris, again a great moody track by her, I got a demo through the door last week, hence sale. m
  3. Context Dear Watson!!! So if I got this right, the original release of 'I wanna thank you' on Stanton which made one side of a later Terri De release, then what might be the orig of I wanna thank you by Goody Colbert on Revue... then the alt version of 'Come back to me' which also makes one side of the Musette singll by the Phantom, basically Sonny craver on Karisma, this is a different and better take in my opinion to the Musette side.. then the very very very rare June Jackson...
  4. Musette - Label Of The Week >>>THE MUSETTE RECORDS STORY<<< This weeks been exceptional, this time last Sunday I was browsing Ebay as normal, I always start with typing in Musette on the off chance I might find some 45's on the label, anyhow after 6 or 7 years of typing that in and sending in Listings of Known tracks that came out, 2 new 45's I had never seen before were listed by a seller, I bid and won both tonight, so before some guy who's been collecting 20 years more that I have emais in and says yeah I got them and a load more not on your List, here's what reckon is a s much as anybody knows: MR-100– Unknown MR-101– Unknown MR-102 – Sonny Craver - I'mNo Fool / Come Back
 MR-103 – Unknown MR-104 – Unknown MR-105 – Unknown MR-106– Unknown MR-107– Unknown MR-108– Unknown MR-109 / MR-110 - Bobby Bryant Sextet -Fifty-Eighth Street / A Change is Gonna Come MR-112 – June Jackson - You're Welcome /Bottoms Up
76- 9151 – Mickie Champion -What Good Am I(Without You) / The Hurt Still Lingers On
65-10 – Lenni Groves - Sweet Sixteen (With ABroken Heart) / Fool For A Day
65-11 – Lennie Groves - Bye Bye Baby / AMillion Tears Ago
65-12 – Lenni Groves - Sweet Sixteen (With ABroken Heart) / Good Show
65-13 – Garnett Sykes -Longer Than Forever /Go Go Girl
 65-14 – Ervin Rucker -She's Alright / KidsTogether
65-15 – Unknown but that Musette Acetate exists and states - You know How Love Is / Show Business (MR xx 615) * not credited but June Jackson sang that, I'd eat my hat if he did not!) 65-16 – Arlene Williams - Duck 'All Over Town'/ Duck 'All Over Town' (Part 2)
65-17 – The Other Four - Searching For My Love/ Why Musette Acetate – (June Jackson-not confirmedbut deffo him) - You know How Love Is / Show Business (MR xx 615) So The two New tracks to me are 65-12 – Lenni Groves - Sweet Sixteen (With A Broken Heart) / Good Show and MR-109 / MR-110 - Bobby Bryant Sextet -Fifty-Eighth Street / A Change is Gonna Come. They are not mint but who cares, they exist and I'l be tracking down Mint copies from here on in... The Bobby Bryant release states produced by R.O Bryant, and these two tracks gained a release on the Chess label nationally. For me the addition of MR-109 /MR-110 really point to there very likely being releases for the missing MR series numbers, 101, 103, 104,105,106,107,108, who knows but these are really obscure…. Miki Champion is a very strange release with a release number 76-9151 that does not fit in any order, 3 are on the blue label, the rest on Orange But I did read somewhere that a green label release came out??? So if you have anything else to add, now is your time!! Mal.C.

  8. He did Paul, a great British collection... so I guess you both were in the navy? I know he and another guy called Jock used to go to Wigan in their Uniforms... as Tony would say ' we did it for the crack!'.. M

some may say this is more a Funk tune but I love it all the same: Rev Jamel & Bob Johnson - Did you See Those Men / J & S can anybody confirm this is the same label as Johnnie & Joe - I Pray To Keep Our Love Strong / Let Your Mind Do The Walking Fame??? Mal.C.
  11. which release on triode is it? mal
  12. Maybe, but to be honest Pete I now try it on every where I go as a rule, here, evilbay, record dealers at do's. not that I go out much these days but some of the prices at Cleethorpes this year were simply silly, 5 and 10 quid tunes for 30-40 and more, and in allot of cases you can go straight onto ebay and get em easy.. As for post, I'm always prepared to pay as long as I don't get ripped off.. John Manship BTW, I simply don't go too at all, I never buy from him but I went to join his auction the other day and it would cost me a pound for a free to view site, next he will be putting up a pay Wall over the rarest of the rare section......!! His prices are way over board, and condition is not always what's advertised, I'd say Craig Morer is a better guy to buy from any day of the week... Mal.C.
  13. Blue Rock acetates on Ronaldo Domino, and both sides of Dee Dee Warwick's Were Doing Fine release's. As I mentioned earlier the Ronaldo acetate I bought from Craig Morer six months ago...He told me it came from a prominent Chicago DJ, and I'm told something that was probably cut for his management or studio purpose.. It's single sided by the way.. as for the other, I'm assuming 'Thanks Cecil Holmes' is the Cecil Holmes of Buddah Fame?? Mal.C.
  14. Blimey, that looks to be the exact same acetate I bought from Craig Morer six months ago... came from a prominent Chicago DJ, and I'm told something that was probably cut for his management or studio purpose.. It's single sided by the way John.. I've got some more Blue rock acetates, i'll post em up. Mal
  15. Antwans - Aint no love o SNAWTNA is a good one.. there was also some Russian prat who went by the name of Strebor Nivek, I've no idea who that might be....... Mel.B aka Mal.C.
  16. Blimey you all missed Clay Hunt - Since I lost you / Kapp and I suppose this qualifies given it was cut but not released by Brenda Holloway as Lonley Boy : Eric Mercury & The Soul Searchers - Lonely Girl Mal.C

Old Rave period version, I mean it was spun at places like the Hummingbird in 89/90, its not Rave in style at all, But things like James -Come Home -Weatherall Mix, Chris Rea - Josephine etc were all enders back then, good version...and cheap!! mal
  18. ok, so the acetates were around long before the Kent CD? you assume if Kent have just released something and alt versions are being spun by 100 club residents, that there must be a connection... regarding it being legit, at the time it said to be 100%.... M
  19. it's worth mentioning that the slightly faster more Northern version, on the Benn X label was played by Butch, and was a BIG record for a while which I suspect came from Ady C, Maybe he can confirm that, the slower version made it onto a Kent CD release at the same time, Goldmine put the slower version on CD and a White Label 45 appeared of that version from them to I assume plug their CD.. I cant really comment on the murky world of some of their 45 releases, that said I bought both CD's and 45's well worth having.. Mal.C.
  20. Steady Toad, its all good fun...was as much a Raver as a soulie, so love both music's and people, but we were just punters, you pays your money and in you go....... Not wanting to turn this thread the wrong way...I leave you with a smilie face!! Mal.C.
  21. Laughs, POGOin.. or skipping if I remember right at the Hummingbird, you could dance in the middle or join a steady stream of Happy Ravers skipping round the dance floor, Here you go, Frightening!! I'm the monged chap in the Red Beneton top, my first and last try at Drug dealing, I basically I consumed more than I sold, and felt all the better for it!!! 20 seconds to comply!!! happy dayz...
  22. The Raves were at the Sports Connection,The Eclipse, Tic-Toc club used to run nights as well, I mean Dance nights with the likes of Martin red, unknown DJ (Mickie Rose), Neil Massie and all the birmingham lot would come over, Man Paris... as MC...MENTAL Times... I drifted into the Rave scene having started with Northern at the Rigger in Brum, Old Vic in Wolverhampton, and occasional 100 club, come 92 the dance thing was dead, and back to the soul records I went.. I do Remember playing Ted Massey tapes to mates from Cov after the Sports Connection, it was pretty good come down music!! Laughs I'll probably get shot, But might I suggest this for a little light entertainment!! My favorite from back then.. anybody for a cheeky half>>?? Mal.C
  23. Just a note of interest, remember Rob Pheasant having the Inst version of this, also on Dore.. unluckily it went before I got a chance to snap it up. mal.C
  24. cool, Sad Feeling on a Yank Orange, ssame again no credits for the two singers on this song... Its become a firm favorite of mine, real Moody striding pace.. EP's, so I have NO5, you can put your hand up for NO1 and NO4, do we know what else came out? Pikeys Dog who I remember from Dave Flynn's site, mentioned ages ago these would have come with Pic sleeves, but I've never seen one.. M
