Soft Touch - Look Up Look Down
I've just realised that there are 2 different label designs (different font) on this. Does anyone have any ideas why this should be given that it's not that common. One was sold recently on ebay (same as 1st pic below) and the seller said:- Soft Touch: Plenty of Action 7" 45 from 1976. On Sundance Century Records. This my personal copy I have had for the last 40 years. They were not sold in stores, you had to know someone who knew the band or got it for promotion. Back side or side 1 is "Look up, look down". The ebay sales on Popsike show that this design is more common - 75/25 split. Discogs shows one other release on the this label (The Diabolics) and has the design shown on the second pic below. There are only 4 sales of this on Popsike and they all have this 2nd design.

Your top 10 45's bought in 2016
I bought loads last year both in quantity and value but all had to be financed from sales of other 45's. It's difficult to do a top 10 but the following are all in my most played playlist on my phone. A couple were upgrades to demos, all are in M- and total cost was £95. Brief Encounter - Just A Little Notion Kenny Carter - Get Hip Girl Jackson Five - Darling Dear Enchanters - A Fool Like Me Timothy Wilson - Baby Baby Please Jack Moves - Doublin' Down Auditions - Returning Home From Vietnam Masqueraders - Gonna Stop / Average Guy Jive Five - Sugar Frankie And Spindles - There Is A Beauty

Carl Spencer
John Manships auction Oct 2011 suggests that the coloured promo is a West Coast press - Whatever copy you have it is still a great record and hasn't suffered death by overplay like many of it's contemporaries. "Discovered by Daly City Bob, perhaps the very first Yank to get the feel of the “Northern Soul Sound”. On a road-trip as his buddy Henry Mariano played through a pile of 45’s, out of the little portable came Carl’s booming vocal riding Bob Halley’s juggernaut production! Within weeks it was in the UK and on the turntables of the Northern Sea rare-soul-haven that was Cleethorpes! Tells a great story does Bob but his copy he sold me back then, was the rather plain White Label DEMO. Before you today is the glorious multi-coloured vision of the west coast press. Great tune - eye-grabbingly gorgeous, in this format. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 274.00"

Would you buy more records if international shipping was free?
Yes I'd buy more. Particularly the $15 - $30 sounds. I just spent 30 minutes yesterday looking through a sellers stock on Discogs to see if he had anything else I wanted just so I could dilute the charges for the one I wanted. I think if you are going to pay top dollar for a record you don't want to be paying postal charges of 70% of the record price. For most US sellers their postal charges are fair so I can't see how a seller could offer free shipping unless they loaded the sales price?

Help with title please
Thankfully I'd never heard this until this post and I have to say it is absolutely awful - even as a pop record. Was it really a Wigan biggie?

Walter, Walkers, Jimmy, Buck Ram?
"My Ship Is Comin' In" - A song I always play when I buy a lotto ticket lol - but which version do you prefer? For me I love the first 3 and no apologies for including the Walker Brothers here, but the one that really stands out IMO is Jimmy Radcliffe's version. I don't know if there are other versions out there, but one I wish there was, would be by Kenny Carter - I could just imagine that it was written for him and how he would interpret it.

Top Motown Floorshakers?
Your set would depend on what you have available to play. Will it be OVO? If it is you will be limited assuming you 40 years hibernation has prevented you from buying vinyl. If it is anything goes - CD or MP3,then you could do the best Motown set ever - and because it's Motown you could do the best set ever the next night then the next one and the next etc etc. It also depends on where your gig is and the audience. I think that in most venues anyone could play a Motown set and keep the dance floor buzzing. It also depends on your personal taste doesn't it? Play the things that do it for you - you can't go wrong with Motown!!! Just a few from me Miracles - Whole Lot Of Shaking - already mentioned above Originals - Suspicion - surprised this hasn't been mentioned Four Tops - Walk Away Renee David Ruffin - I Want You Back Stevie Wonder - Be Cool Be Calm Four Tops - I Like Everything ABout You There is also one that you must know despite having been in hibernation for so long. It's a previously little known track from 1965 by Frank Wilson called Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) which has gained in popularity over the past 40 years. This one is very popular with the dancers.
