  1. Or maybe Jeff lynn elo šŸ˜‚
  2. I’ve always rated the e Williams track, from being a regular play at Hyde social club soul nites, these days I wonder if it’s more a collectors piece rather than a tune for the floor? Certainly up there with the rarest!
  3. Looks like the Yorkshire ripperšŸ˜‚

I’ve just been looking through old posts,I can’t find the pic that Carl fortnum put up of Martha Starr,it was a pic with this and jd Bryant and don gardner!

I did a similar post to this some years back,I concluded that the Martha and cressa are the same track, and after Carl fortnum(I’m sure) posted a pic of his original 45 on charay copy of Martha Starr! I also thought this Martha Starr was the same as the girl on thelma! But maybe not! Bit cheaky though just adding and extra R to maybe gain extra exposure?
  6. I’m sure the Dave evison reference was a few years earlier than this show,im sure him making the point that the magnetics is the first to hit a grand, and the copy looked like a bad day at sea?
  7. My first point of reference to a record being the focus of money, was a Dave evison radio show on signal in the mid 80’s and the guest dj was on (maybe butch) mentioned this was the first record to exchange for Ā£1000 and it was magnetics lady in green, and it was then I realised not all records were a fiver or lessšŸ˜‚ so it was downhill after that šŸ˜‚
  8. Rarity or value? I’ve had very rare records that don’t have much value, then records that are easy to obtain but have to pay a lot for? so I wonder it’s a money driven scene more than actual rarity? or is it simply everyone chase’s the proven floor fillers, that are in the end the best northern soul records, most of us are just bored of them, but which in turn cost more to buy? I personally didn’t give a shit about rarity, value,or even original when I got into northern, but now for all my sins it’s a big factor!
  9. The cynthia & imaginations hey boy sounds similar to the four dynamics things a lady ain’t suppose to do on peachtree? if it is the same backing track, which came first? I sold a mint four dynamics on here some years back, wasn’t a fan of the tune, but I knew it was rare!
  10. Rita dacosta is a big price,I always expect to see that around 250 300 quid mark?
  11. The gentleman four was a nice price for someone, and a m-copy inside and out!
  12. A lot of work to put together the band, obviously many musicians are needed to get the full impact of the sound across, and I can’t see any musician wanting to put all that effort in it for one gig? Unless it was to continue playing regular gigs I wouldn’t bother! also I think you could play live northern soul anywhere and get a great response, as long as the tunes were a mix of popular and a few obscure!
  13. How the hell did you come up with that title guy?
  14. So did guy name it the Michigan move? Great title, but how the hell did he decide on a title named after a hockey move?
  15. Are we mixing the inspirations up palšŸ˜‚
  16. Cheers for that mate class sounds them! I wonder what the Cody Michaels c/u is?
  17. Just been listening,I also had them tapes, but now long gone! do I need to sign up to mixcloud to get the track listing?
  18. So I reckon this invitations variant is on a par with the spyder turner variant where mgm toward the end of the 60’s they have a number of releases or re’releases that were put out in small numbers and have through the passing of time have become very rare items! And whilst this invitations variant is rare and a great little thing,I suspect to be a reissue of the black issue and yellow demo from maybe a couple of years earlier?
  19. Isn’t the spider turner ā€œaliveā€ on this blue variant, but not on a black or yellow?

My all time fave film is salems lot from the 70’s with David soul and James mason, however there has been talk of a remake in 2023 which promises to equal the original, the film is made but they keep delaying the release!
  22. Equally I also think the intruders better check yourself is up there with best, but because it’s readily available and (cheap ish) I’ve no desire to own it,however if it was an under 10 known copy record I would want it! Stupid I know, but I’m not interested In a room full of records I would never play, just a jewellery box of gorgeous itemsšŸ˜‚
  23. Yes for me it would be and is the best northern soul record ever,I just wouldn’t be interested in owning it if it was 10 a penny, the quality and the desirability are 2 separate things to me.
  24. Very well put matešŸ‘
