Soul Night Disgrace
Generally most of the scenes "anthems" or "floorfillers" have been booted or re-issued. If you were to play a record like Billy Prophet or The Anderson Brothers (& neither of them were originals) would it affect the amount of people dancing to them? Or would they be too busy running to the decks to check their authenticity? I guarantee that everybody on this forum has at some stage danced to a record in "non-original" format.

Soul Night Disgrace
How would the scene cope with a policy adopted back in the days of Wigan & Mecca. Once a record was booted or re-issued it was no longer played at major venues - this was of course before "oldies nights" at Wigan.

Soul Night Disgrace
Can see all sides of the argument- however if I was booking a top "name" Dj I would not expect him to play such "overplayed" tunes that they had been booted in the first place. After all the "500" records I am talking about are not what I would expect a "Top DJ" to play. If he can only fill the floor with the "same old" - even if on original he's not IMHO, worth hiring.

The Northern Soul Top 100- 500
Think we all may argue at what order these records should be listed - indeed there are lots of records I own or have heard that don't even make it into the book. In fairness they probably represent the 500 most played/best dancefloor reaction tunes of the last 30 odd years. Like everybody else I have my likes & my dislikes in there - that would always be the case in a project like this.

Len Barry
Interesting opinions on this. Agree with Pete about Dean Courtney & Bobby Hebb - they are just perfect soul records - 2 of the best records ever played on the northern scene. The Len Barry version has a "cool - laidback" feel in the vocals - can imagine him just stood in the studio with an open neck shirt on & just going for it as if he was singing in a nightclub. Like it.

Blackpool Motown/soul Night Feeback Required
There are plenty of soul nights in & around the Blackpool area already with prices ranging from - FREE - £3.00 - £6.00 admission. I don't think any of them are full to the rafters - & to be honest "live acts" are not everyones cup of tea.

Just Another Fool
Always puzzled me why people have to make such grand announcements when leaving the forum. If & when I decide to go I will do just that - no fuss & certainly no announcement. Had quite a few people on here who have said things "I'll never post again" - Don't want to be a part of this anymore" etc. etc. Then after a couple of weeks the old "Frank Sinatra" syndrome kicks in - "Hey guys I'm back" Then these people have a grand reunion & welcoming back thread - "Oh how we've missed you" Just does not sit well with me people.

Fluff Freemans Top 25 70's Oldies
Good on ya for trying something different - not the usual same old, same old. I know practically all the tunes in your list & most hit the spot for me - & ALL of them are better than the truly awful Benny Troy.
