Superb - very underrated version - another big play for Pete Haigh - very popular with the bar staff in The Tower Lounge.

Classic dance anthem - even heard it played at the more discerning northern venues.

Version Pete plays is by Laso on MCA
  5. Yea Pete - Used to have Joleon Lescott as my avatar - what ever happened to him? My family are from their originally - Whitmore Reans- visit the church that is Molineux on a regular basis. BRING BACK "THE LIQUIDATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Won't be able to join in when we get round to the "two-step" postings theme. My computer shuts down after four minutes when nothing happens.
  7. Good tune - reminds me of a Temptation recording with Ray singing in a David Ruffin style. See Pete you've got there in the end - please try not to slip back into your old ways again. Come to think of it we'd all be dissapointed if you didn't
  8. Has the same relevance as the gay topic from yesterday - thought this site was supposed to be about Soul Music. Plenty of other sites on the internet about peoples sexuality - if that what floats your boat.
  9. This price includes your commission of course
  10. Can't believe this thread is being allowed. I admit I can banter with the rest of them & like the fun that can be had on Soul Source but I find this totally offensive.
  11. Brilliant - always loved this - Try flipping over your Oscar Perry "Peritone" tunes - some quality hiding there also.
  12. On a Technics 1200 when playing a 7 inch single have you noticed the receptical for the aluminum centre fits a female DJs lip gloss or eyeshadow almost perfectly.
  13. Linda Lovelace................. oops that's already been done.

Then drive over Bill Bush & his Combo in my getaway car - would be worth doing time for - & maybe ALL records would be modern when I got out.

    CLASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you any easier questions? - perhaps ones on Nuclear Physics?
  17. Sorry - must have misread the topic Thought it was called "best Motown album ever" - it obviously says "best Motown album ,that sounds like a Motown album ever." I tend to look for the little clues myself - Stevie Wonder being a Motown recording artist is one of them.
  18. Actually sonds like a Motown album? Don't really understand that comment. "Songs In The Key Of Life" is widely regarded as the pinnacle of Stevies career. All his earlier stuff is raw & exciting but his "Songs In........" is just a genius fulfilling his potential.
  19. IMHO Has to be "Songs In The Key Of Life" - nothing else comes even close
  20. Donny Hathaway Leroy Hutson J R Bailey Jackie Wilson David Ruffin agree with Levi Stubbs. Dozens more - can't just pick one
  21. For once Pete I agree with you the vocals are better than Lee Marvin & Tammi Wynette - but it's a close run thing.
  22. Now just to add to the confusion - records like Bill Harris- Brothers Guiding Light etc. were all available & were bought as new releases. It was around the time of the disco boom & "proper" soul records were in the main ignored. Remember - Todays new release may be tomorrows oldie, classic, crossover, tent, big-room,nighter anthem.
  23. Got the sheet music for this tune - just having it tanslated from the Latin. Very popular with harpsichord & lyre set.
